Denard - SIAP

Submitted by Lampuki22 on
This may be very unpopular but I really think that Denard is a special, special talent but that he will never be an NFL day to day quarterback and instead will play for many years in the NFL at a slot, wildcat and special teams star. So why not start working that in with him now?

Imagine an offense in which he and DG BOTH occasionally line up split behind center and the options that could be run from that set? Imaging the chaos that would cause for defenses. Imagine DR on a reverse, reverse pass or running behind DG on the option. Not to mention returning kicks. Or just in any situation where they can't key only him. Unstoppable.

When I hear that he will be the "focus" of the offense and will run for 1000 yards, this is what I think Hoke/Borges have in mind.

I love this kid and don't want to see him get hurt or misused as he was under RR. He can still take 80% of the snaps at QB too while DG gets quality time to do his thing.

Denard wants to play QB. He's made it perfectly clear. One of the reasons that he chose Michigan was that he was going to be able to play QB, and I'm sure that was one of the concerns when the Hoke staff took over. They've told him he's playing QB. And he can't do everything on the field. I mean he can probably do well at them, but we can't leave him in the whole game. Even dilithium needs a breather every once in a while, maybe more than most because of the speed he's traveling at.

In summary: no.

Well ESecPN has already started.

Denard, if he bulks up a little more and keeps showing the growth in his passing game and decision making, can be a NFL QB ( won't say "will" because many great college QBs don't for various reasons).
HOWEVA I think he will do those things and will be successful at the next level.

why stop there? we should make DG a running back/ slot receiver too and just let bellomy be the starting qb. just think of an offense where ALL THREE of them line up behind center. why would we only take our best qb and make him a running back when we could take our TWO best qbs and make them running backs.

i have to go...i must tweet this #offensivegenius

We should put Denard and Tate in together and do all this totally awesome stuff. No, we shouldn't. This isn't ncaa 11. Denard is a quarterback and a damn good one. He just finished a pretty good sophomore year. Let's see what happens in his second year as a starter? Save the daydream awesome offense talk, please.

saying "idea sucks" and then your gone is a sucker punch. I don't particularly agree with the thread, but I can't say the idea never crossed my mind. If they don't find a way to keep him healthy, we may not see him at all. The better D's figured us out after a quarter or two. Mix it up, keep them guessing. He's still our man (80-90% under center) and maybe 10-20% slot, RB, dual QB, etc. Food for thought, but who are we anyway but fans sitting on our butts thinking we know best. No doubt, though, DRob is amazing and an incredible kid (most importantly). Coach will find a way to most effectively use him.

for self-immolation.

"I love this kid and don't want to see him get hurt..." but you want to see him returning kicks and carrying the ball out of an option formation.

Classic use of logic.

...to criticize this one, or would that be "point-ist"?

What's amazing to me is that the OP has actually received 2 upvotes. Pity votes, votes of stupidity solidarity?

I have seen some really poor content around these parts, but this takes the cake. Definitely the worst title ever -- how vague and absurd can you get? And the post itself? Rambling nonsense but coherent enough to seem genuine. Classic. +1

It is fun pigeon wholing people. I think Denard would make a great Janitor, they should give him the oppurtunity to clean up after one of the games this year, I bet he would be great at it. Denard wants to be a qb and it appears he is willing to work his ass off to be a damn good one. Great work ethic +desire+ freakish athletic ability = I can be awsome at pretty much whatever the hell I want to do. It would be a huge mistake for Michigan to not give a kid like Denard that oppurtunity.

You sir are a genius for posting this. Since January 1st the bloggers have been split...do we keep RR, do we fire him. Who should be our next coach, recruiting discussions etc. Nobody can agree on anything. But you sir - in one single thread have united all of us again. Unfortunately we seem to be united against you.....oh well, win some, lose some.

The best QB for this offense is going to start. If that's Denard, it's Denard. If that's Gardner, it's Gardner.

I, personally, think it will be Denard, if only for his work ethic. I would not be surprised to see Devin Gardner become our starter with Denard moving to a PercyHarvin++; role. FWIW, I've heard rumblings that said not to be surprised when both are in the backfield.

I, personally, would prefer to see #16 take every snap at QB (when the other team is within 3 touchdowns late) for the next two seasons.

Let us know how the nightlife in La Paz is.

signed,

Tom Brady (speed, arm strength), Drew Brees (size), Mike Vick (accuracy).

If the kid wants to play QB, let him play it. We've already seen him take a huge leap from Freshman to Sophomore.
