I just posted the 7000 miles, post, hadn't read yours before I did! It was safe, fun, exciting, loud, not as advertised, much better and I would recommend it for anyone who'd want to go in the future!!

It's a bet that I would love to lose

28-24 OSU

Praying that I lose this bet

From Jordan

As an international Michigan Fan I'm always streaming the games, especially on the go. I would recommend the following sites:

1- if on ABC or ESPN : ESPNPLAYER.com   - PAID service where u can just subscribe for one game or week if u want

2- if on BTN : http://international.btn2go.com - PAID service same as espnplayer

3- on either you can use any of the free streams (example first row sports): http://firstrowusa.eu

Now your other issue is internet speed, if hotel internet is good enough then just use that, otherwise i recommend you buy a dongle and sim for your laptop (from any mobile provider), or just buy a 4G data sim for your ipad or smartphone and download the app of espnplayer or btn2go (note I usually have issues with accessing free streams on mobile browsers!)

The only games I ever have a problem viewing are those on Fox TV and that was only this season with the UTAH game!

On the other hand when it is a game at notre dame (which won't happen anytime soon) those are provided as a free stream on NBCsports.com

Hope this helps..

2007 and the road we were on

If the outcome of this hire is positive then I belive that the road we travelled since the Horror (my homecoming game at the time!) would've been exactly what this program and its fans needed.
Our expectations of our players, coaches and the program as a whole have become so high that nothing short of a NC would be enough to satisfy our thirst!
Winning over any MAC team is a forgone conclusion, beating up on most Big Ten teams is a no brainer and beating our rivals is expected 75% of the time (if not more). We stopped celebrating wins, we only celebrated monumental wins!
Honestly, if JH does what we expect him to do in Ann Arbor, we would come out with a stronger team and with a better spirit and I belive we would go back to enjoying a trip to the Rose Bowl and a Big Ten Championship.. We wouldn't take things for granted anymore.

So the Horror in 2might have been one hell of an important day in Michigan Football history that made us who we are today and paved the road for this hire be a much more special hire than it would've been 7 or 3 years ago..

Dreaming of those better days..

Go blue

55-13

I predicted 55-13

It's not about execution

Honestly it's not about the QB, O-Line or RB play... It's not about blocking, it's about predictability in play calling and more importantly this pathetic attempt to run the ball from under center or otherwise!!
I don't understand why Borges is insisting on playing such a bonehead plan! In the past when our team couldn't establish a run early, they'd start passing! Now nooooo, we try to run it again, must've been an execution problem... Once, twice, thrice, until we're down in the game with 2 mins to go and a needed TD.. Even then, I'm sure Borges still thought about running..
My coaching experience doesn't go beyond NCAA football 2014 on PS3 and I'd have the common sense to stop running the ball if I faced what Michigan has faced today defensively!! That is just wrong!! This was our win and we just handed it away.. This is all on the coaching staff.. The kids played their hearts out there, didn't turn the ball over and got 2 turnovers, just to be beaten by their offensive coordinator!

Too bad.. go Blue! Let's hope we have a chance when OSU comes to town!!

For the future

Bigtenticket.com for BTN games
espnplayer.com for ESPN and ABC games
Nbcspots.com for NotreDame home games (when Michigan plays them)
Firstrow sports website for everything!!

Michigan 38 - Minnesota 24

Michigan 38-24

1997 - NC year

A win for sure, I think it was 24-3
I had no student tickets because I was a freshman international student, so I scalped a 3rd row ticket at the gate 2 miniatures after kickoff for $1, ended up being a lot of fun and the best assigned seat I ever got for a game at the big house.. Believe it or not, a friend gave me a ticket for free for that season's ND game and OSU game..

We are the 12th man

We are the fans, last game about 10000 seats were empty because they thought this wasn't a game worth their time.. So 12th man energy is important in these games, don't u agree?

I stand corrected

I did not choose my words carefully, the actual statement should be "they looked mistake free because bad Michigan play made them look that way". I agree that two bad teams were fielded yesterday, and were it not for the Michigan self inflicted wounds we would've won with ease and covered at least a 32 point spread if not more.
And if it were not for their mistakes they would've beat us by about 14 points, so I stand with one statement there, boy we're lucky we won. And Go Blue.

Laying the blame

Disclaimer: I'm not one to hate on any of the Michigan kids or coaches, I believe we do have a great staff and talent on the team with a good maturity level, and do appreciate the fact that Michigan is 3-0 today and Michigan under Hoke is in a different world that the coaching of 2008 3-9 team. So all is appreciated.

Now for my point,

QB: DG made a lot of mistakes and he got into the funk early in the game and didn't get out of it. The coaching staff seems to have instructed him to play soft early so as to preserve himself for future games which meant he was trying not to break himself rather than win a game and create separation. He also took big risks seeing that the weak competition would not be able to capitalize on mistakes. That was a very wrong assumption. By the time they had to change that mentality he wasn't able to really get in the game, although he eventually did just enough to keep Michigan in the game, and eventually win. If it had no true repercussions in the future, the coaching staff should've considered subbing in Morris for a couple of series in the 2nd quarter to change the pace of the game (he would've had more motivation to prove himself) I know that is not logical but should've been considered when your QB ended up with 4 very costly mistakes that should've lost you the season.

O-Line: They didn't give the QB enough time to pass on many plays, and no huge holes for the RB, but play calling might have had something to do with their performance. Again their mentality coming into the game was that they are playing a Glazed Doughnut so really they didn't expect to make the D-Line of Akron look better than that of ND. They definitely had no fire in them and I believe that to be their biggest mistake rather than technique.

WR/RB/ TE: honestly, they looked best on the offense , Butt and Funchess had great plays and yard, Chesson turned his first reception into a TD. And in the second half, Fitz saved our lives. So I guess any other mistakes are expected any game.

Defense : mixed reviews and blame there. When they rushed 3 we couldn't get to the QB, when they rushed 4 we couldn't get to QB, 5 same thing.. I guess e had to rush 8 to almost get to him... No sacks against Akron is just wrong. As for the CBs they shouldn't allow those deep balls against Akron or even against OSU..
1st half looked much better than second.. The 2 goal line stands are heroic, but the other team shouldn't have gotten to our 1.5 yard line in the first place. They had a lot of great individual plays but didn't play well as a team.

Coaching: now comes the dissing part... Honestly, this was Brady Hoke's low point at Michigan. I respect the guy a lot, and I respect Mattison and Al Borges a lot, but honestly They made too many mistakes yesterday namely:

a- they didn't prepare the team mentally for the game allowing the letdown
b-play calling : they were not effective on defense or offense most of the game, being conservative at times and taking too many risks on offense at times.
c- they way underestimated the competition and with that almost made Michigan beat Michigan with the don't break yourself mentality.

Honestly this one is on the coaching staff, they were way out coached this game but were lucky to have fielded the more skilled players on the field.

Akron: they played their best game in 4 years, almost mistake free, if the wind didnt push their field goal and if they were more conservative playing in our redone they would've won this game. Honestly they are much better than advertised, not Michigan caliber, but better that a team that hasn't won on the road in like 4 or 5 years. If not demoralized from this game, and barring injuries, they should be able to win at least 3 to 4 games this season in MAC competition, if not more. ( that being said there was no excuse for Michigan not to beat them by at least 21 points)

So there you have it, please tell me if my brain got it right or am I crazy.. Though I will take an ugly win over a loss any day and I Thank God for this win... So hopefully this is a fluke and I never have to watch Michigan ever do that again... Ever..

Go Blue

Don't panic

At least he can get a medical redshirt.. Although I was looking forward to see his ability this season. Go blue..

Wait a minute

Something wrong with his offers' list, according to Tim and ESPN Arkansas has offered him!! I'm shocked that you kept that out... The Hogs, the Hogs.... And I heard they are close to stealing him away from Michigan with a scholarship and mating companion ..

Go Blue

Where does it rank in heart breaking losses

Of the games that hurt my heart and soul:

1- Weber timeout

2- loss to Duke 2 years ago in the Tournament

3- this freakin Indiana loss

Honestly we had it and lost it.. I don't blame the players, they were under too much pressure, it just happens. Lets just hope this happened at the right time, we still have a B10 tourney to try to win and a NCAA tournament out there. I'm hoping this teaches us humility and gives us a push to win both of those.

On the bright side, OSU and MSU just lost the B10 championship :).

Go Blue..

One comment

So I guess Kenpom was wrong this time.. Glad this ugly stretch is done, time to go back to winning at home and playing the likes of PSU

Thank u

Honestly, I've been trying to look for any video which has the celebration after the last play and couldn't find anything.. Thanks for this Brian

Thanks for comments

Thanks for all the comments, as sarcastic as some are I do deserve it because this was a test.. I will work on a much better piece next time.. Lets beat Iowa and I will start working right after that game.. Thanks for all the comments good and bad..

Thanks for the comment will

Thanks for the comment will work on it.. My mistake on breakup of blogpost.. Will work on things and hopefully have a better one after Iowa..

It's simple!!

Possible but no Probable!! Then again that was the answer on can Michigan Win with 18 seconds to go, down 3 on their own 36 six... Hmmmmm... Possible :)

Wow, took my words

Ace, I congratulate u for translating my thoughts into the most beautiful poetry.. Michigan poetry.. Boy now I understand why I love Michigan football.. Go Blue

Take it easy

Borges is calling crap plays I agree.. But Gardner is more athletic.. Putting gallon in right now as a running QB is better than Bellomy.. It's just cruel to keep an inexperienced QB who obviously cannot handle the pressure in the game right now.. It's WRONG.. Desperate situtuations require desperate measures..

Guilty until proven Innocent

Well, with Gibbons I would agree, I remember he was a hyped up recruit, but everyone clearly remembers he sucked early on, and Brian was right to be skeptical.. Anyone in his right mind would be.. Thank God we were all wrong.
Now in the Drew, Denard and Hoke area this is how everyone is about such recruits and hires, Guilty until proven innocent.. We love high ranked recruits, and proven Michigan Men coaches, we are terrified of the unrest and we don't believe in Heart over size ( Mike Hart could be a good example from the past).. Tom Brady was killed by fans who wanted Drew Henson in when I Wasan college and they didn't quite down until he won the bowl game his Junior a year, now they name their kids Tom or Brady because of the dude.. So ya we are a very skeptical group of people.. But who cares today, Michigan just beat MSU in the most hurtful fashion... Without scoring a single touchdown.. Oh how sweet... Go Blue

The bright side

As bad as the offense and offensive play calling was, I am shocked to say that Michigan was definitely the better team on the field.. We had equivalent defences but our offense was much better.. Now turnovers are not precalculated In my book rather a stupid act.. We just had some players and calls that were willing to do it 6 times.
Honestly I would never diss shoelace, but for one I would agree with his comments, this was his worst game ever and if anything, him and Borges should take the weight of this loss. They had some good calls, but having linebackers intercept him 3 times is just over doing it.. The Vincent smith interception was just plain wrong.. And the fumble was inexcusable.. So sorry shoelace, in this game they should've given you a rest right after the 3rd turnover.. Now it is out of respect for all your previous achievements that I say "I respect you" and you have earned the right to lose a couple of games!! So lets credit this game to your account..
Honestly all respect to a stellar Defence who was shockingly great.. A super O-Line who gave us some holes and some good team effort.. Again Michigan was the better team on the field but it was not meant to be..

Go Ble

Alabama and our strategy

To be honest, Alabama players were big, fast, better, more well conditioned and they had unbelievable depth. To be honest Dave Brandon (God Bless his Soul) shouldn't have scheduled this game originally. And remember he even scheduled this game at a time Michigan was unranked, so it was supposed to be an even mr lopsided match up.
Maybe it helped in recruiting players fom the south, but damn it was bad. Granted if we had miraculously won, this would have been huge, but come on, who are we kidding!? We had absolutely no chanc unless we would've played like a complete underdog and amagined we were App State or Praire A&M and tried to milk the clock on every possession so we might have a chance of mounting a comeback in the 4th with something like 2 scores!!!
It was a madman's quest, I believe if we win the B10 this year it is just an indicator of how far the league has to go to catch up with the SEC at this point. Seriously what I saw in this Bama game was an NFL team playing against a college team.. Seriously, their 4th string RB had a higher average per carry than our first.. That is just wrong.. Our depth is miserable.. Any backup on the field couldn't match up to their players, why any great starter ( Robinson and Lewan) couldn't do anything against their backups...
God Bless our players and coaches, but 2 years ago we wouldn't beat Toledo, how did we think we could beat Alabama this year, it's a publicty stunt and not a logical game.. Let's hope we win the big ten, go blue...

Excited

Just a Go Blue shout out... Always great to hear good news... I love it

Peter

See when I had a post about the commentator getting his university name wrong on TV I got 500 points knocked off my account :)

Taken too seriously

So, I posted a post yesterday just because I was pissed about a ex-Michigan swimmer whom they said Wasan Florida dude by mistake.. I got 480 points knocked off my account and am at -380 instead of positive 100.. This community is getting too cranky and too serious.. Haven't been reading much in the threads lately and didn't think it would be taken so seriously...not only that but they deleted my entry.. If it cost me that much at least let me see all the swearing that went on behind my back!!!

Seriously!!!

Let me explain how seriously they r taking it!!

How can I

Hey all, so how can I upload it to my game, i've been playing the game for a while but am not too savvy with uploading the roster.. Thx

Alright here goes

So a 10-2 season is probable, considering the home field advantage in most cases is considered a 3 point (advantage). Saying that our offense should be better, we lose mainly Molk, Koger and Hemingway there, but really gain a better Fitz and still have a good OL and have Stonum back and don't forget about a better Denard, Gardner and any freshman coming in to the class (Kyle Kalis included).

On defense, the whole secondary is intact (I love Woolfolk, but comeon we've lost him 2 years ago!! Thomas Gordon and Cam should fill in)... The DL is another story, but I am hopeful that Cambell and others should fill in at some point. Defense honestly should be better, we have to take into conisderation that the defense had good numbers this season but really we were all hopeful for 2012, that means they should improve, especially with the contribution of incoming freshmen in 2012 and the maturity of current freshmen like Ryan, the weakness might be the DL, but the DEs and LBs should be better, so lets call it even here.

Special teams definitly should be better, matured returners, new contributors, an ok kicker and a solid punter, lets also call it even.

My conclusion based on weak evedince is Slightly better offense, no change on defense and ST, and a tougher schedule (Remember OSU should be better and ND too).. So toss ups are OSU, Alabama, Nebraska and ND, lets go 2-2 and those are your losses, 10-2 season and depending on who we lose to we might join Wisconson (If they aquire Crist from ND) in the BTCG (if so it a 50-50 again) so a NewYear Bowl is very probable, a BCS bowl is very possible.

For worst possible I would say 8-4 (3 tossup losses and one surprise loss) though Michigan might be overwhelmed by being the favorites in most games (pressure factor)

On the other hand, I was taught at Michigan that we should aim for a National Championship every year so my hopeful prediction is thi 13-0 and a National Championship appearance :D GO BLUE AND LETS BEAT VT

How about

How about a list of apps you could have your girlfriend use for the 3 hours of the game.. Angry Birds is one thought :)
Never miss watching a game (only exception should be the birth of your own child) :)

I live in Jordan - I watch games online all the time

Ok, here goes if game is playing on ESPN or ABC it will probably be online on

ESPN player: http://www.espnplayer.com/espnplayer/ncaa - will cost 14.99 to watch.

if game is on BTN then you can watch it on bigtenticket.com and I think it would cost around $20

if you're thinking of doing it for free then a less reliable choice would be something like Justin.tv , I don't recommned this choice, the first 2 are much more reliable with a ok internet connection.

If the game is on primetime, then there is a slight possibility that it doesn't play on the first, but that would be solved with watching ESPN at any of the hotels or bars, but that rarely happens and even when its on primetime you usually have it online too an example would be the MSU-UM game where it was on both.. Don't worry, you can watch the game live in Sydney, enjoy..

The Positive side

We expected at least 2 to 3 losses this season, we have one out of the way, it was a 50 / 50 game and we lost, still our defense was not bad and if anything, bad offensive calls and game plan doomed us.. Never have I seen Michigan so apparently misplay offensively for a game more than today..
Still 5 games to go, Michigan has a chance to win all of them if they plan better.. Go Blue..

Fan in Amman

I actually live in Amman, born and raised here, went to school in Ann Arbor, and been a fan ever since.. Always great to see fans around me here :) Go Blue..

I agree

U know what, that is why I left the 9-3 option open, honestly no clue who will win our games every single week, u get a surprise each week.. But u have to admit, Michigan is actually getting better as a team week by week, and they are getting better during games (evident in better second halves than first halves) so let's hope for the best..

Not sure yet, jury not out

Well, I watched the LSU - Florida game yesterday and suddenly realized what type of team we are aspiring to be like (wow, LSU has some monsters everywhere). So I would like to do some backward induction, if we play a big SEC team for the bowl game all I can say is good luck Blue.
As for our remaining schedule, MSU and OSU are always toss ups regardless of record, the game tends to bring out the best and worst of both teams, so let's say 1 and 1. Purdue and Iowa could be the softer games, let's take those 2. Illinois looks better than OSU and equal to Nebraska let's say 1 and 1 Illinois and Nebraska. And if We do make it to the Big10 Championshionship, my GOD have mercy on our souls if the Badgers stay as consistent as they are currently..
So 10-2 is still the logical prediction with a really wide open door for 9-3 or 11-1. With a two faced team in Michigan u really don't know wwhich team will show up Any given Saturday.. Although my hopes stay high for a perfect season, I've seen some hints of luck go our way and u never know, some wind there, someone slips here, a fumble or an INT and that could make the biggest difference for our boys.. In all the schedule is softer than some of the other years and I am hopeful.. Let's enjoy the perfect record for now, Go Blue

With the FG kicking being ok, it was perfect

Well, we actually kicked a couple of average kicks, makes me feel much better.. Also important to note that both defense and offense were super today.. One slight note is kick return coverage and punt return coverage, we need to work on that side of special teams.. Go blue

Note

Did you notice how the two guys to his left don't even react to anything.. It seems like they're sleeping... Whaaaaaaa??

All in all great job

Well, all in all, this guy did a superb job, hey made this memory a perfect one for me.. All these guys on the team did.. Wow wow wow.. Go Blue

All in all great job

Finally

Finally we have an old school guy who respects tradition (and doesn't need a headset to coach :D )

Go Blue

RESPECT

Honestly, just one word

RESPECT....

go blue
