I heard that. It was just a rambling conspiracy theory that Terry Foster mumbled after Valenti shook him awake. I wouldn't put too much stock in it, unless it's reported by someone not fresh out of a coma.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
I wish I could punch in the fricking face. He's a complete moron. If he says that MSU, Iowa, and Wisconsin are consistently recruiting better talent than us, I'm going to drive across the country to bitch slap him.

Sounds about right. I mean, at this point, does anyone still actually think Harbaugh (Jim at least) will be coming to Michigan this year?
January 6th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
Don't believe what you read in the media, for it is contrived.
Harbaugh would never turn this down. He will be announced the coach of Michigan next Thursday.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
Well damn, I hope so. Your optimism is either insane or contagious. I'm going with the latter.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:23 PM ^
Brian put the kibosh on that. I doubt that's going to happen but would be absolutely thrilled if it did.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
Brian is preventing us from hiring coaches? Someone needs to stop this guy...
January 6th, 2011 at 4:37 PM ^
...finding him.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
He's been putting up a thorough scouting report of the Michigan team every week. All opposing coaches need is the internet and they know all our secrets.
Damn you, Brian!
January 6th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
Looks like we have to change the banner again...
January 6th, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
I guess the Dolphins were so happy with their experience with Nick Saban, they decided to hire another hot college coach. I wonder how well Harbaugh will work out for Miami if the player personnel people in the front office don't see eye-to-eye with Harbaugh on talent, or if Harbaugh can't work with the GM.
And, as for the rushed Rooney Rule interview, I hope every affirmative action candidate that the Dolphins contact declines to interview. it would serve the Dolphins right for making a mockery of the process.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
So Harbaugh has agreed to take a job that isn't even available currently? That shows real respect for the game, doesn't it?
January 6th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
When you play the Pats for the first time will you please give us your best, "What's your deal?", to BB?
January 6th, 2011 at 4:28 PM ^
This really sucks. Not only is he spurning my college team, but also going to a rival team in the NFL. Why do you have to break my heart, Jimmy?
January 6th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
could be after the same HC.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
I wouldn't worry if I were Pats fans. They have a stranglehold on that division. Plus between them and ol' Foot Fetish up there in New York, Harbaugh is going to have a tough time winning considering the talent, or lack thereof, that is on the Dolphins' roster.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:10 PM ^
There is no fear of him going to Miami. Just the pain of him breaking my heart twice.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
hopefully now and forever. If he didn't want the Michigan job when we needed him most, I don't want to hear his name come up 5 years from now should we be in search of a coach and he is washing out of the NFL.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
... I think Harbaugh was listening to Randy Moss rather than his heart.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:39 PM ^
It's all about the quan. Sad.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
I doubt he'll get 6-7 million.

When the whole story comes out, assuming he goes to the NFL, it'll end up being in the 5s somewhere.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
Holy shit, this is perfect for the situation. This should be posted on the front page for the next week.
January 6th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
Yes. This.
If I could +1 you, I would.
Except I don't ever want to be a Dwight.
January 6th, 2011 at 7:12 PM ^
I would +1 the hell out of this if I could!
January 6th, 2011 at 4:45 PM ^
I guess that's

his deal
January 6th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
More rumor-mongering - just heard on ESPN Radio that JH talked with DB today. Anyone else hear that? Or did I miss this posted somewhere in the 300 replies to each of the threads?
It goes against everything we're hearing but I thought I'd toss it out there.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
Hope, sadness, sorrow, longing - I don't know what else to say, despair.
That would be great, but this sucks.
Can't put thoughts together. Head hurt...

Could Kirk Ferentz slip in there as a contender ? Seems like he might be getting stale at Iowa and with the recent discipline problems he may be wanting out. Apparently he was born in Royal Oak...doesn't qualify him, but throwing another good coach out there.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:57 PM ^
No big ten coaches skipping to other big ten programs, please. Thx.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:57 PM ^
This would be good news... for Chad Henne.
January 6th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
How so?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:30 PM ^
Harbaugh has done pretty well with his quarterbacks.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
Shefter basically saying the deal will get killed by the NFL because of the Rooney Rule violation. Cue circus music
January 6th, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
makes Harbaugh's first order of business to report to "Dolphins Training Camp" in Ann Arbor and win a National Championship...
January 6th, 2011 at 5:07 PM ^
4-5 million in Michigan or 6-8 million in Miami? Might not have been that close. I love Michigan more than anything, but as much as I do, I have a family and they would have voted Miami 10 times out of 10. Please remember JH has one to.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
reminds me of Latrell Sprewell talking about needing his salary to put food on the table for his family. I think the Harbaughs could have made ends meet at $4-5M/year.
The only impact 4-5 million v. 6-7 million has on what you can provide your kids is a potential effect on the brand of 5th car you would get each one.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
Spree actually did need that money to put food on the table. Dude is broke. He got his boat impounded from the Milwaukee harbor, and he has like a dozen kids to support.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
Says who? Just because it's nice to visit doesn't mean everyone wants to live there.
January 6th, 2011 at 6:59 PM ^
People, the grass is not always greener. I moved from Michigan to Southern Cal over a year ago. Overall, I definitely wouldn't say SoCal is better.
January 6th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
LONDON: Increased attention toward football in the United States is having a ripple effect across the Pond. The Glazer family flew to the Bay Area this afternoon to interview Jim Harbaugh for the, allegedly, soon to be open manager position with the Manchester United Football Club.

DB has meltdown: replace "Iaian" with "JIMMeh"
January 6th, 2011 at 5:55 PM ^
before he made his call?
January 6th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
Harbaugh is 28-21 at I-A. Without a quarterback many consider to be the best college QB in a decade ore more, he's below .500.
What I'm saying is, it's possible that it's Luck that made Harbaugh. Not the other way around. Given the lack of success that more established college coaches have had in the NFL, $8M a year seems like an incredible gamble.
This is going to be interesting to watch play out. I don't fault Harbaugh in the least, though I don't care for him using an alleged $5.2M offer from UM to leverage more from Ross, as some have reported.
I'd sure like to know what Brandon's itinerary was like today...
January 6th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
He supposedly reached a deal with the Niners yesterday afternoon.
