Bill Stewart to resign following bowl

Submitted by dakotapalm on

According to the Smoking Musket (WVU blog) Bill Stewart will resign after the Mountaineers' bowl game. I'd seen several reports throughout the day that hinted at this, but this is the first concrete statment about the situation.

Oklahoma St OC Dana Holgorsen is expected to replace Steward. Interestingly enough, Holgorsen had recently declined to seek the Pittsburgh opening.

I would love to have him, but didn't he want to stay in WV becuase it was where his whole family was?

I hope RR is already in contact with him and he decides to finally make his way to AA.

#3 total defense + #6 total offense = 2011 National Championship right?

When RR was hired, I remember telling the WVU trolls who invaded Mlive that RR would last longer at Michigan than soon-to-be-overwhelmed Stewie would at WVU.  It looks like I at least got that right.  Hopefully, the predictions that mentioned National Championships and a long career at Michigan for RR pan out, too.

Casteel had already turned down the HC job at WV, or taken himself out of consideration...

Possible that this time of waiting is to give GERG his bowl game, and a respectful send-off...

Possible that this is already a done deal awaiting an early January signature...

OK, now you can start with all of the reasons it is possible I have my head up my @$$

that there will be a coaching change at WVU depending on the outcome of their bowl game (Link Below).

Would be great to see Casteel come to M, but it seems that his roots may be too well planted in Morgantown.  Of course there will be a metric-ass-ton of speculation as to who ends up where, but I'm sure this will be a fun story to watch develop over the next month.

how RR, DB and co do this we NEED Jeff Casteel to make his way to AA and run his blitz heavy 3-3-5 defense. pretty much is exact opposite of GERG 3-3-5.

Come on Jeff you know you want to come to AA!

just saw on ESPN.com that Auburn gave Gus a big pay raise and he's staying put. A smart move on both parts. Vandy would be a job with a low ceiling.

There hasn't been a program yet in the conference with a DC with any real experience running it.

Using UM as a test case for whether the 3-3-5 will work is like going out on a date with Roseanne Barr and concluding that all females are overweight, ugly, and screechy.
