I think the chicken littles out there actually have a pretty strong position on which to rest their "sky is falling" case on. Meyer has always been very succesful recruiting, but he has also been absolutely ruthless on the field. And that was in the SEC. It looks like he is pulling in an elite SEC-level class this year, and this ain't the SEC. When Urban was flipping kids from other schools, a common refrain designed to evoke the "calmer than you are, dude" state of mind would be something akin to "Urban was supposed to get those kids! This isn't news!" The problem with this is that if all Urban does is "get the kids he was supposed to get", we are in deep trouble. HSFB in Ohio is rife with talent, and IMO we certainly won't survive long vs. Urban unless we can beat him out for recruits out-of-state. Disclaimer: I would describe myself as an unflagging pessimist, and I imagine this post portrays such a fragile mental state well. |
