I had the pleasure of playing on a city league touch football team with Nicky his last year when he was academically ineligible (architecture major????) He joined our team because he was "in training" for the combines. His routine was to sit in the car with his trainer and smoke pot for half an hour before each game. He was a gifted athlete with great hands and amazing skill for someone his size. He was my height and a hundred pounds heavier... But moved quite well... The similarity I see is a pattern of bad decisions, and a linkage of pot and questionable work ethic. Nicki ended up drafted by the Cowboys and was their starting fullback for half of his rookie year... then he was the guy with Mark Tuinei when he died (http://archives.starbulletin.com/1999/05/11/sports/index.html) It is certainly a stretch to equate the two, but at some point making bad decisions is rooted in a lack of ability to make good decisions. For people on the ledge, drugs seem to gently push them off in far too many cases... |

Or was he just not going to be the guy? Never can tell how hard the coaches tried to keep a kid, could be the scholarships are too valuable to talk anyone into staying. |

Would love to see him come to Michigan! I have lived in Columbus now for 21 years (yes, really), and love the attitude of the team, the coaches and all of these recruits... Whole new attitude! Go Blue! Beat Ohio! |

I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to keep Fickel and Vrabel on the defensive side, but not sure they would stay at this point. As noted in other posts, Mattison was Meyer's recruiting strength for 3 key years at Florida. When he and Mullen had gone the recruiting dropped off significantly. Go Blue, Beat Ohio! |

I have always wondered how much weight LV puts on the fanbase of a team when setting the odds... Anyone know how and if they account for this? Logic says that most fans bet on their team to win... but is that enough of an influence to move the odds? |
