Kellen's dad sent me this video from My Fox Houston, which features Kellen as the Player of the Week.

...That he and Barwis are going to get along famously.

Love all your work!

He's a 5* in my heart. This coaching staff is doing a great job of finding kids with the right attitude.
October 23rd, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
This just feels so right..

Can you be considered "OMG shirtless" with a shirt on?
October 23rd, 2010 at 12:03 PM ^
Something tells me that Kellen Jones can do whatever he sets his mind to
October 23rd, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
Everyone can, as long as they truly understand what it means to set your mind to something.
October 23rd, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^
That's pretty deep. You want me to credit MGoViso from the Internet when I tell my kids that?
October 23rd, 2010 at 2:18 PM ^
As I was reading this, for some reason, I thought your comment was going to go the route of "something tells me Kellen Jones can do whatever he wants to me."
October 23rd, 2010 at 5:10 PM ^
and I only use that line with the most special of dates, so yeah I'm pretty excited about Kellen...
October 23rd, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
That is what you call swagger. In love with this kid already. I'll love him even more when he's putting running backs on the turf in the backfield.
October 23rd, 2010 at 11:41 AM ^
very well spoken kid. i am impressed.
clearly he knows how to shoot a gap.
October 23rd, 2010 at 11:46 AM ^
Line Kellen up against Taylor Lewan and let those two go at it, that would be fun to see, until the fight breaks out.
October 23rd, 2010 at 6:44 PM ^
Kellen is no one's donkey!
October 23rd, 2010 at 11:47 AM ^
Congrats Kellen, keep it up. GERG will have alot of fun with this kid. No dreads?
October 23rd, 2010 at 11:50 AM ^
That's the closest thing I've ever seen to a field goal being intercepted. Lovin it
October 23rd, 2010 at 11:51 AM ^
approves of this young man. Thanks Tom for your updates and all you do.
October 23rd, 2010 at 11:58 AM ^
This young man is what the defense needs. A confident, aggressive player who loves the action. LBer's gotta have the emotion and aggression to go with their talent. Seems smart too, which is another huge piece of it.
Kellen Jones - A true Michigan Man! Can't wait to get him up here to represent.

Tell me he's enrolling early
October 23rd, 2010 at 1:32 PM ^
....he's sneaking onto the field against Penn State next weekend. My gracious that was impressive, even for high school. Great kid.
October 23rd, 2010 at 12:52 PM ^
Is there anything better than when they have that confident, can do swagger, yet are well spoken and bright? I tell ya what, has anyone else noticed how many great kids are in the fold now? I am truly falling in love with these guys. GO BLUE!!
October 23rd, 2010 at 1:22 PM ^
to you, and that both parents are so involved and proud. The Dad with his football background, the Mom with the grades... And since he was a "late bloomer" per his coach (and relatively recent position switch), another case of the M coaches finding people early. [Okay, I'm not going to do the research to find out if they got there before the word got out to the rest of the world. Enough that they got to him early enough to get him!]

I never grow sick of this highlight reel. Just can't wait to see it in Maize and Blue!
October 23rd, 2010 at 4:40 PM ^
He could start on our D right now!!!
October 23rd, 2010 at 6:18 PM ^
Is absolutely incredible
October 23rd, 2010 at 2:15 PM ^
"Only a dozen or so games at middle linebacker."
Anyone know where he was before that? He looks like he's been destined for this position his whole life.
October 23rd, 2010 at 2:48 PM ^
He was a DE before he was moved to MLB because of his speed.
October 23rd, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
Can't wait until this kid gets on campus!!!
October 23rd, 2010 at 3:28 PM ^
Some cross between Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis, absolutely ridiculous! The D is definitely getting an upgrade here.
October 23rd, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
Is that you Fred Jackson?
October 23rd, 2010 at 4:35 PM ^
Cannot wait to see him with wings on his helmet
October 23rd, 2010 at 5:07 PM ^
I like that in a MLB!
He sure hits the backfield quickly on some of those plays. I hope that holds up once he is here. I have always had a thing for guided missles in Blue.
October 23rd, 2010 at 6:21 PM ^
RR and crew are doing a great job recruiting. We are going to see a continued upward curve with recruits who are all in for Michigan and fit with the program in the right way. Make no mistake, Jones wanted to be at Michigan, with what is happening here. He could go to TX, USC, FL, but wants to be blue. That is exactly who we want here. Adding a good dozen solid defensive recruits a year for the next few years will make a huge difference.
October 23rd, 2010 at 6:32 PM ^
His attitude on academics...I likes it.
October 23rd, 2010 at 7:16 PM ^
What position does he project to in our defense? I'm assuming it's between WLB and MLB.
Both positions are pretty lacking in depth. It seems like the depth chart at LB for next yr is pretty up in the air. Maybe something like this:
MLB:
Demens / JB Fitzgerald / Isaiah Bell /
WLB:
Mike Jones / Leach / Jake Ryan?
I'm really not sure what position Jake Ryan or Isaiah Bell are playing so I kinda just guessed. And it seems like Fitzgerald just kinda plays anywhere. The coaches might put antonio kinard at WLB and Jones at MLB. Although it seems like Jones is pretty effective as an edge rusher...who knows. Regardless hell have to add a good amount of weight before hes a viable option at either spot. But hopefully he won't be forced contribute for a couple yrs.
October 23rd, 2010 at 8:54 PM ^
I've heard him say that Greg Robinson has told him both spots, so I'm not really sure. It depends on how he fills out when he gets there, and what happens after he's in the system.
October 25th, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
sounds confident in himself and looks like it on the field. vidoe shows that he blitzes well and tackles well AT the point of contact. scrapes well and wraps up! i actually think wrapping up is a dieing art. mayber there are coaches that teach fundamentals out there. bring those fundamentals, atleticism, mean streak as well as your academics up to A2! have fun gettin ready to be a wolverine kellen! Go Blue beat psu!
October 25th, 2010 at 12:06 PM ^
I'm excited to have him on board too, but some of you guys go a bit overboard. YouTube highlights are great, but it drives me nuts when people look at highlights and think someone is great. So slow down on saying he'd start right now, let's let the kid graduate high school before we proclaim greatness.
