Born in Denver, CO.  Dad…

Born in Denver, CO.  Dad retired from Air Force and moved us to Battle Creek, MI (the first time).  Moved back to Denver and grew up there until I was 10 where we moved back to Battle Creek so my dad could be a part of the family Miller Bros service stations.

I remember having Wolverines, Tigers & Denver Broncos stuff all over our many homes that we lived in Denver.  Whenever my dad could get a Michigan game or Tigers game we were watching.

The move back to Battle Creek and being IN Michigan allowed me to get more entrenched in my Wolverine's and Tigers fandom.  Not sure if it was my first game at the Big House, However my earliest memory that stuck was the Colorado Hail Mary game.  I was decked in both teams gear being young and rooting for both teams.  I remember though when Colorado won that I was mad and I KNEW I was a wolverine fan first!

I wonder if we ever met eachother both of us gowing up in Battle Creek?

Check successfull coaches…

Check successfull coaches/orgs for reference including the owners willingness on their spending habits:

The next evlotion and telling sign(s) will be if Dan and Brad can bring in successful coordinators with each successful season regarding whatever turnover may occur.  The 'Firm' foundation seems to be in place.  In my view now is the time we (The NFL world) will see what happens with FA pickups as well as whomever the new coordinator(s) may be?

Only one team wins the Super Bowl each year.  Howerver, many likely feel, with the foundation that is in place along with player personel and execution on field the Lions can be perenial playoff contenders.

Growing up my dad would grow…

Growing up my dad would grow a beard the length of a 2 from his birthday Oct 1 to April 1.  He then would shave it off.  In college I went with the Goattee.  Then met my wife and went with a zz top goat.  Then wanted a beard and grew mine like my hero (my dad from my birthday Oct 7 to April 1.  Which turns out is my wife's birthday.  Then would go back to my goattee for the summer months.  Ten + years ago I decided not to go back to the goatee and keep the beard all year.  For two years I keep it the length my wife likes it and every third year I go mountain man (except for my side burns which i trim and fade it into my lower beard) for six months.  I have told my wife that at some point I want to go a full year without trimming it (except the neck line) to see what a full year of growth would look like.  My beard growth is usually down to my clavicle line in six months.  My beard is completely salt and pepper now but I cant imagine not having one.

press points

without rewatching I say they had about 8-10 pts off of their press. Points really scored against our O.

for edit

I hope I can figure these steps out so I can watch the game at school tomorrow.

SOH

I am also in Battle Creek. are you from here?

Thank you

Our cousin really needs those right now.

I found out last night

Watching TV with my wife, seeing msu stuff she heard nassar's name. My wife mentioned several years ago that her cousin talked to her about being assaulted by Nassar! A year or so later she took the day off work (she is a few steps away from being a doctor) and drove to EL to file her report. She is currently struggling with Extreme deep depression! including suicide attempts! We as a family are rallying around her to help her get through this. Since last night's discussion I am struggling with more ANGER than just reading (seeing on tv) about these atrocities! Lord please bring Peace and healing to those that have been hurt/crushed!

In reply to sabermatricians/analytics...

First I believe arguing/debating over the internet embolden's folks into believing thier opinion is gospel.  Second I am willing to admitt and openly accept analytics, while also understanding watching the game with my own two eyes has benefits as well.  There must be a mix of the two: analytics and game 'watching' with gut decisions.

Sabermatricians like to sprinkle their analytics like it is magical fairy dust.  I have friends who are very good with stats who are thinking of careers in sports analytics that do not watch the game or really know how it is played.  If closers, saves and holds were not important to 'the game' they would not pay players to do it.  Call the titles of stats what you want.  Call what you want arbitrary or important.  Watch the game and use common sense along with analytics and predictives.  Be fair to the game and to the players and coaches who play and coach!

Debate worthiness based on the climate and culture of when those players played the game.  I realize it is very difficult when typing a few paragraphs to make a complete argument.  For me making a complete argument means using both sides of the coin.  I am passionate about baseball.  I believe baseball will be better with analytics.  However, I see a growing trend of folks that are relying too much on them and not using common sense to see the actual effectiveness of a player.

I would enjoy sitting in a comfortable setting with some of you sabermatricians and drinking some barley pops discussing this topic.  Whether that happens or not blessings to you my Mgobretheren and sisteren!

Go Blue beat the boilers!

Thank you for replying...

I actually forgot I asked.  I saw the Mgo13th birthday and went to check my account to see how long I had been on.  That is when I saw my question to you.  Anywho, I am not sure you will even come back to this thread to see my reply.  Either way thank you!

Forgive me for an OT ish ? Who is from Pinconning? My wife lives there most of her life.

Go Blue! Beat State!

Went to bed late last night watching Baseball with my precious 1 month old daughter (we are adopting, she is our second adoption; my boy is 3.5). Today woke up knowing several things: It is great to be alive! Great to be God's son, it is great to be an American! Today we celebrate our 'Gotcha Day' with our boy (so called in the adoption world for when you legally become parents of an adoptee). This day I turn 41 at 2:02 pm!

Go Blue - with today's victory we celebrate all msu peeps turning green with sickness 'Deep'down knowing that there run of success vs us is over!

My coach in college baseball did the same...

I wore one in each ear and did not like the rule.  Not only could we not wear them around the baseball complex, school gym or campus we could not even wear them around the town.  He told us that if anyone reported us, he had many people in the community who were baseball supporters that knew many of his team rules, that we would have exercise consequences.  I also thought it was harsh.  I look back on some of the rules and believe it was micromanaging, as well as religiously restrictive, dogmatic (I went to a pentecostal founded school).  I realize after years of reflection that, although they seemed petty and restrictive I was not at school to wear earings.  I was there to be as good of a student athlete as I could be.  I am sure many people have their own oppinions about this or any other micromanaging rule.  If as a person we are able to see past these things we can flourish even in disagreement.  I was better with some of the rules than others but some of the principles have still stuck with me in becoming a better man, husband, father, coworker, etc.  Either way you think about it I am sure Coach B's players love and respect him and play hard for him.  There is always room for improvement from any human and I am sure Coach B and his staff realized some of these ideas after the traumatic experience!

Go Blue!

Binge watching is soooooo nice sometimes...

I just binged GoT (all 6 seasons in about three weeks! The adventure of the show is awesome! Fear TWD is coming in June and am anxious for more Walkers! Also binged Blackist: Redemption. Some friends mentioned last night Designated Survivor? Tiger baseball is on now so my show watching is slowing down! Go Tigers!

Go Blue (Hope the team enjoys Italy's). Also pretty cool that so many footballers are staying over in Europe for internships.

Stay in the moment(s):

Sure as an adult you know how to plan for the day, for the week, for the month or even for the year (5Yr plan? 10 Yr? College? ).  Enjoy each minute, hour and day that you are in each other's presence.  Dont think too much about what she will be able to do next or when this or that might happen.  It will be inevitable to have some thoughts towards this.  I have found that staying in the moment allows me to look back on pics and videos and cards and such and not be sad because I lived it!

Whatever your daily or weekly routine is you will have to sacrifice some.  Hopefully not all because Daddy's & Mommy's need alone time or buddy time.  However, you will want to be a part of almost everything as you build your eventual unseperable bond!  Enjoy each smile, each coo, each diaper change, each breathe, each arm wiggle, etc.  If you are like me you will have routines set up for feedings (we adopted so Caleb was on formula from jump), burp rags, towels around the house, baby wipes in each room, etc.  For me this helped create less stress when there was a spill, or spit up, or nasty diaper change.

Last thing DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR WIFE!  Help with dishes, laundry, the bathrooms, etc.  You will take on more responsibilities, take care of her and let her see you love your daughter!  Be patient for lovin both sexual and even cuddle times!  Like putting money in savings, CDs, stocks, etc. you do not see the dividens right away.  Sure you can withdraw some early on.  We know the payoffs are bigger the longer our money acrues.  Your marriage will be great, your fatherhood and your wife's motherhood will be great because you will recieve in return what you put in!

Blessings of Peace, Joy and wisdom!

Go Blue!

M Ascending...

There will likely be a dropoff.  How much remains to be seen?  I believe the way X played was somewhat passive due to playing off the bench.  He deferred to DW and DJ and Mo and even Duncan and MAAR.  If you look at some of his confident drives he was able to create his own shot well at times.  His drives often created good looks for others as well.  I think he will be a hard worker and be able to dish and create as he experiences driving the team.   If not then Coach B and staff will find others to step up.

Go Blue!

clap, clap, clap clap clap

for these two (and the whole senior class).  Takes some guts, as I am sure you who have degrees from Michigan or elsewhere to 'Finish'!  I pray blessings on these young men as they go out in the world to represent all that is good in them and around them!  As for the play of DW Jr and ZE I believe they both have the confidence to play at the next level!  I hope they both have good to great professional careers.

I look forward to him meeting his birthmother someday!  Obviously I do not know when or where he will but I pray that it will be awesome!  I really hope you have an amazing time!  I am sure you have many thoughts and emotions about it.  Enjoy that she gave you life!   Show her who you are, have become and where your future is headed.  I mean this sincerely, I would love an update on how it goes.  Hope that is not too intrusive?

Go Blue and be blessed Zarniwoop!

R U mad bro?? /s

Mad would you have the same convo with your friend as in your last paragraph?  If so I think you should have that convo.  Then after you say your piece tell him happy celebration of his birth.  Then have a great time at his celebration!  Time can not be replaced.  Friends, especially good loyal frends are hard to find and few and sometimes far between.

MH this is just a bit of sarcasm so hopefully my tone is not offputting.  Either way enjoy your Friday and your evening with freinds.

Go Blue!  Beat Staee!

Edit:  This reply is to OP original post but was cast way down here.    A Friday cheers to all of you MgoBloggers to have an Awesome Friday and to friends!

Edit # 2:  I am on the left with one of my best freinds in life!  We are having a beer downtown AA prior to celebrating with the Matt Demorest community before the Indiana game.

Edit # 3: My niece (my older brother's youngest) is coming over for the first time to enjoy popcorn, games and a movie.  Then taking her to her bowling Saturday morning bowling league.

Unless...

Hopefully we do not finish second here?  If we do though, I believe JH & Co. along with the product on the field will start to turn 'the tide'!  The original MIMITW has cemented his legacy and the new guy has work to do.  For as long as the original MIMITW has been 'the most interesting' so has Alabama been to the elite footballerz of America!  I believe 'the tide' will turn!

Go Blue!

Unless...

you are a player from NorthWestern, Ivy League schoolls and a select few others.  You can say we 'kick your ass on the ACT, SATs and others'.  Some can speak to both, Michigan being included.  These tests and that mentality is obvioulsy not enough to sometimes overcome regional bias, childhood loyalty to a or specific shools, etc.  I hope that Solomon comes to play school and football for Michigan!  He would really help us with our D Line needs.  It would suck if does not come.  However, JH and his staff will ensure that there will be a good product on the field as well as the classroom!

Context is Sam Webb's job is recruiting.  This hire would affect recruiting.  Vague questions from you leads to a nearly meaningless reply from you.

Maybe not his first priority

Though, I am guessing Webb can multitask with the best of those in his line of business.

Human emotions

will not allow me to not be bummed missing on some of our biggest targets.  Yet, I cannot help but think about how the future is so very bright at Michigan!  All elements considered I am amoung many who believe Harbaugh and hist staff(s) (his staff members will be sought after and will change each year) will bring the best!  From staff personel, scheme, scholar athletes, work ethic, etc. we will be celebrating many victories as well as BIG time wins!

Bloody Mary on a Thursday night.  I had knee surgery last week so I am recovering.  However, I am plugged in as i have cousins that border Minnesota in Wisconsin and my wife's uncle (that sadly passed away) had a cabin in the tri-city area.  Where we fished on several lakes and the sentiment was that PJ could not handdle the cold there.  Of course it could all be the bloody Mary and the whiskey mix drink I had.  Or we could wake up in the morning and the Flexmeister will still be 'Rowing the boat' in WM?

I actually do not believe this...

MGo is like Heroine (only faster and gets mega YAC)

Your last sentence seems to me a 'cry' for Help?  Maybe you need the MGocommunity to help you take a break?  I suggest pushing away your computer or mobile device and grabbing the nearest empty brown paper popcorn bag.  Draw on it 'Najee's' name and on the other side write 'I will not overreact.  When you are done eat a cookie (so you have something in your stomach) and take an apsirin and call again on MGo in the morning.

Or wait unitl everyone else knows about Najee to Michigan before you do on Monday.

Stay committed either way

Gina Carano

Although she did not match Rousey's success in the octagon, Gina brought fame and recognition that women could hit and be hit! Plus she made several movies (is likely still doing that). So Ronda and women's MMA owe a debt of gratitude to her.

Growing up the Christmas Holiday season was a special time...

My parents are my heroes and we did a lot as a family throughout the year.  Especially though, throughout the Holidays.  I really enjoyed watching Holiday movies.  My favorite with my dad was Holiday Inn.  My favorite with my mother was Polar Express (unfortunately she passed away a little over two years ago.  So we watch it every year with family and friends that were close with her to honor her).  Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy 2017!

I Agree wholeheartedly with you...

I would just add that he has assembled a great team full of football knowledge.  Wisdom is what I think seperates our coaching staff from most.  It is one thing to be full of football/life knowledge.  A step or more above to be filled with wisdom as to how to apply your knowledge.  Harbaugh's staff I believe presents this to current players and that shows to the recruits.

Time is coming for us to have classes like Abalama (don't hate this is not a slam for Alabama I just like the sound of Abalama) and osu.  We ARE closing the gap with results on the field.  An  Bowl vicotory will be another step in the National arrival.  Of course we must beat osu first though  /s.

I appreciated the excitement!

What some might have looked on with 'quit ruining the/this kid's moment'.  Seemed to me to be genuine excitement and unrehearsed joy!  Nice to have heard that the football choice was tough (helps me believe that M is definitely in the minds of the top elite's of the country!  In the end M's academic difference was the key.

Also nice to see 'Hold me Tom VH' talking about his Michigan Wolverines picking up a HUGE committment!
