Coach Yaklich

On ball defense is just nasty
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:29 PM ^
Is pretty good at defense, eh?
March 22nd, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
Thats what I'm hearing. We have him for two more years. I think moe is coming back too
March 22nd, 2018 at 11:19 PM ^
Man, that's quite a scoop you heard.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:25 PM ^
Defense intensity was obvious tonight (spoken by the announcer every 30 sec). But, ya, for real.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:25 PM ^
Couldn’t agree more. Gotta do everything we can to keep him ours. GO BLUE!

Viva Poncho Beilein!

They must really love eachother, because Poole straight up spiked the empty water bottle off Beilein's head at the end.
If I would have done that with one my coach's, the video would end with me running away while he chases afterwards.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:51 PM ^
Hope Beilein pays him a little revenge with non stop dribbling drills in the offseason. Kid has swag but for someone who cant handle the ball worth a shit, should maybe think on that confidence a little.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:28 PM ^
I dunno, did you see the 2nd half performance out of the D? Fell apart.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:30 PM ^
They held serve. That's all they needed to do after the first half.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:30 PM ^
But the pace of the game was insane. TAMU was pushing pace to keep up their possessions. They still needed a ton to get close. Typical game has them at 62 points for the game
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:31 PM ^
We didn’t pressure he ball in the second half
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:34 PM ^
Are you sure you watched the same game?? We maintained a 20+ point league throughout the entire half. A&M could get nothing from outside the arc everything was inside the paint. Any dumbass could tell you that was going to happen. This game is a perfect A+ by both the offense and defense
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:35 PM ^
Not to mention at this point every team you play is #1 no more push overs or Cinderella’s. Even Loyola is totally legit now
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:39 PM ^
Dude, you should have used the /s. Apparently, a bunch of people needed it!
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:28 PM ^
But...they used 35 possessions in first half and around 33 in second half. I had them at 29 at the last media timeout and stopped counting. Impressive 1.05ppp
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:58 PM ^
without rewatching I say they had about 8-10 pts off of their press. Points really scored against our O.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:28 PM ^
Agreed. Beilein said at halftime that it was our defense that keyed things in the first half, and he was of course right. Just sick, nasty D. I love it.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:29 PM ^
totally agree...
but also credit Haynes and Washington too...Haynes is in charge of coaching up the gaurds and Z and MAAR have been absolutely lights out, while Washington coaches up the bigs... and Mo, Matthews, Robinson have also been fantastic.
Michigan should lock up these asst coaches for the next 3 year imo
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:32 PM ^
Give this man all the money
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:32 PM ^
...then the D would be perfect
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:33 PM ^
Dilly dilly.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:34 PM ^
is Duncan Robinson. That guy was soft as Charmin and could not guard anyone with a pulse.
He's now a very good defensive player. Duncan Robinson.
I don't think I've ever seen such a tranformation on that end of the floor - especially an upperclassman.
Credit goes to coaching and to the players - well done!
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:46 PM ^
he played some great post defense tonight. totally agree.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:48 PM ^
But giving credit to the coaches and players?
Obviously the credit for that performance lies with the marketing department and equipment managers.
March 22nd, 2018 at 11:00 PM ^
because in the past there was no "D" with Duncan, lol. There's definite D with Duncan now, heck with the whole team; these guys have a genuine shot at winning the whole enchilada...
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:35 PM ^
We won the first two with D. We won the 3rd with O (and D). The D has been there EVERY game over this 12 game win streak. How do we play? HARD. What do we play? DEFENSE. Because we want to be? CHAMPIONS
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:39 PM ^
I feel like we should fire the money cannon at him rather than throwing it at him.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:40 PM ^
This is the most balanced, complete team left in the tourney. Unbelievable game! I root for Coach Haynes as a fellow Golden Flash myself
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:40 PM ^
Haynes deserves a ton of credit too. He has worked really closely with Z. We don’t get where we are without Z’s massive improvements.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:42 PM ^
Seriously the most underappreciated part of this team
Actually I'd say the other two assistants, Saddi Washington and DeAndre Haynes, are the most underappreciated. Yaklich has been getting a ton of (deserved) love all season.
March 22nd, 2018 at 10:57 PM ^
Whole coaching staff has been great. I believe Haynes is responsible for helping to develop a game plan with JB. It was on point tonight
March 22nd, 2018 at 11:25 PM ^
Loved how the announcers seemed surprised that Michigan came out in a man2man defense tonight. Were they expecting a zone because we really don't do that? But, they certainly saw and then complimented the great defense by all the guys tonight. Loved the effort, loved the solid rebounding and then pushing the ball up the court for good looks before their defense got set. What a game!
