I checked a few weeks ago but couldn't find anything; I think Brian even mentioned he's not on Louisville, but no mention of where he is. I hope he's on the right track though. This defense would be a lot more interesting if he was granted admission. And by interesting, i mean awesome.
September 30th, 2010 at 10:46 PM ^
I hope he gets on the right track as well. The statistics are stacked against him though.
September 30th, 2010 at 10:40 PM ^
He did not make M, nor Louisville, nor is he enrolled at the JUCO where he signed the other LOI. Best bet is his Mom's couch, feeling very sorry for himself and trying to figure out what to do next. That's where I'd be.

I sure hope Denard doesn't go missing-- I don't know what we would do!
September 30th, 2010 at 10:47 PM ^
Yeah. Major typo. I've got dilithium on the brain!
September 30th, 2010 at 11:16 PM ^
He might have had the grades to satisfy the admissions people.
September 30th, 2010 at 11:38 PM ^
What kind of recourse does a guy like Dorsey have if he's not current enrolled in college anywhere? Can he improve his high school grades at all and retake the ACT/SAT, or does he have to earn some college credit and hope for admission somewhere as a transfer student if he wants to play football?

would be a beautiful addition to the L.B. photoshop thread. Excellent evolution for your avatar!

+1 for sitting on the couch. Not for the statement that Dorsey is home sitting on the couch, but because I wish I was the one at home right now, sitting on the couch.

Noooo! This ship has sailed a long time ago. If and when he is on a college football roster, I assure you someone will know about it and post it immediately.
September 30th, 2010 at 10:44 PM ^
ya i feel like he got screwed over just from like an educational stand point.
"here is a free education come to our school and play football"
2 weeks before practice "sorry you cant come here" "Find another place for a scholarship and to play football in less then 2 weeks"
September 30th, 2010 at 10:48 PM ^
about the "high school" he attended some classes at that weren't apparent until late in the admissions process.
September 30th, 2010 at 11:42 PM ^
He didn't have acceptable grades. M and others did ALL they could to get him in, but in the end, he didn't do enough in the classroom. I hope he gets his life turned around, but I definitely don't feel sorry for him.
October 1st, 2010 at 12:15 AM ^
How can you not feel sorry for him? He grew up in a terrible area, in a school that obviously has zero expectations. He made some bad choices early on and really had no one to kick him in the ass and set him straight. The kid tried to turn it around and came up short.
October 1st, 2010 at 9:00 AM ^
They are not blessed with an incredible athletic ability that allows them a way out. They are going through all the same things he is, yet they have nothing at the end of the tunnel. That is the real tragedy.
September 30th, 2010 at 10:54 PM ^
It wouldn't have made any sense to admit him if he couldn't make the grades to keep himself playing. If you want to go down the road of fudging his grades because the football team was that desperate then you're cheering for the wrong team. Hopefully in time he will get himself together and get on a program somewhere. Hell he could go to a MAC school and become a star. Do something with his life.

Give up the dream. sorry.

very saddened about the news that he wouldn't be allowed into Michigan, that he really looked forward to being here. Listening to the players during press conferences makes me feel Demar would of been given good direction here, good influences. Would he have been a top student, maybe not, but I think it would of been a fair trade for the University to give him the opportunity to grow, both mentally and physically grow, and give him a chance at a career in the pros; certainly the program -and by extension, the University- would have benefited with him being on the team.
Demar, I hope you are out there reading this, and that you don't give up on your dreams; prepare for your future and get things moving NOW. Give it another shot and make preps to come to Michigan. Or anywhere; just get on the road to being the "You" that you can be.
September 30th, 2010 at 11:07 PM ^
or prep school is on him. Unlike D1 schools each JUCO sets there own accademic requirments, infact many JUCO's specalize in prepering former dropouts or GED holders to go on to a four year school. Demar has the talent to play at Michigan but with his grades and apparent lack of motivation about school I think the he would have struggled off the field at Michigan.
October 1st, 2010 at 10:21 AM ^
Agreed. I teach at a D-2 school, and we get lots of athletes like Demar - not nearly as talented, but having the same lack of preparation for college work. Because it's the mission of our school, we provide these students with lots of help, trying to assist them in catching up with their better prepared comrades.
As you can imagine, we have some great success stories and some pretty depressing failures, but schools like mine are geared (and driven by their mission) to help someone like Demar - UM is not, so JUCO or D-2 would be a better option for him.

as of earlier this month he wasn't going to be anywhere because the grade issue was a clearinghouse issue and therefore not the fault of our admissions for not accepting him (meaning he doesn't make the grade anywhere). He is now trying to enroll for spring at Louisville which is why he isn't on the roster now.
October 1st, 2010 at 1:27 AM ^
He could probably still get into classes at a near by JUCO this semester Many offer quarter classes. May help with the transition in the classroom at Louisville. I wish him all the best!

October 1st, 2010 at 7:56 AM ^
...Dorsey you speak of? I do not see him listed here.
It's time to GTFO the "No Fly Zone" (where O substitutes for over vice out).
October 1st, 2010 at 8:07 AM ^
I doubt he plays football for any BCS school. The only reason I say that is because his poor grades are coupled with a background (I don't want to say criminal because he wasn't convicted of anything) that make many academic institutions leary.
I hope I'm wrong because I really wanted to see him on campus, but that dream is long gone unfortunately.
Good luck Demar.
October 1st, 2010 at 8:57 AM ^
Many schools have shown that they would in fact take him, its just his grades don't make it. If his grades were there, he would be at M despite any background issues.
October 1st, 2010 at 9:24 AM ^
He just passed me the dutchie with his left hand.

He had signed with Ft Scott Community College back in April as a fallback, but don't see him on their current roster:

Ok, NOW we are done talking about Demar Dorsey.
