Does UM have the most exciting offense in the country?
Now, I'm not saying that we have the best overall talent on offense. We don't have a game breaking running back, save denard. Our offensive line, while very good, isn't among the best in the nation, and our recieving core is decent. Even so....
This offense looks very aestethically pleasing. Much more than many other teams in the country. Tactically,on offense, are we the most entertaining side in the country?

please have a comment and not just a heading or the mgoblog app for iphone crashes
And Oregon is the most exciting offense so far this season.

Id say for non-UM fans, it would probably be Oregon. I think Denard is generally enjoyable to watch though. Michigan is up there.

We have the edge over the Oregon - our uniforms induce less vomiting.

I'd make this edit:
our uniforms in
duce less vomitingspire awe.

I would argue that these teams have much more exciting offense...
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:44 PM ^
if "exciting" is the word you're looking for.

I think the defender needs to check her pad level

I took my Buckeye-loving girlfriend to the UMass game (a hopeless attempt at conversion...) and I made a comment to her that Denard is the most exciting player to watch in college football right now. I stand by that. I suppose that would mean the offense as a whole is exciting to watch because he, essentially, creates every play with the help of the rest of the cast... Everyone has to block, but will he beat you on the ground, through the air, or with the THREAT he brings every play?
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:35 PM ^
dump her already
:)
September 24th, 2010 at 8:07 AM ^
Seriously, my Michigan loving girlfriend bought me tickets to the UConn game for my birthday.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:00 AM ^
that's a keeper. My wife has placed herself atop the list of "Best Wife Ever" by buying me her little sister's student season ticket for my birthday this year. You know you're loved when you lady sends you to the Big House for your birthday.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:17 AM ^
Well, she did buy me a new Adidas premiere Michigan jersey for my birthday (#7, which is forward looking for Gardner, but also my dad's number there), so she's not all bad ;)
September 24th, 2010 at 12:32 AM ^
or you got to dump her since she's a buckeye gal. :-P
September 23rd, 2010 at 8:51 PM ^
yes. This offense is more fun to watch so far than Henne, Hart, and Long. And that is weird to say because I love those guys.

Martinez has a Denard-esque ability to take it to the house on any given play; I'm not that familiar with the rest of their offense, but having explosvie speed like that in a guy who touches the ball on every play makes an offense exciting IMO.

Taylor Martinez, freshman QB is seventh in the country in rushing yards.
Martinez leads the nation's qualified rushers with an average of 10.5 thanks to touchdown runs of 80, 67 and 46 yards. Helu, an I-Back, at 10.3, is second. Burkhead, another I-Back, at 8.8, is sixth.
Nebraska's average touchdown drive takes just 4.9 plays
Nebraska is #8 in total offense, 513 ypg, #5 in scoring, 47+ ppg
Should be a GREAT game to watch next year in AA.
Denard is terrific, believe me, Nebraska fans will appreciate watching him play in Lincoln in 2012, we know a thing or two about dual threat QB's. Enjoy him!
September 24th, 2010 at 7:47 AM ^
Did he graduate, get injured or was he just beaten out by Martinez (who looks wicked good)?
September 24th, 2010 at 8:09 AM ^
The mixture of fail that was Zac Lee and Cody Green were beat out by Taylor Martinez.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:36 PM ^
last year's starter Zac Lee (who had offseason surgery) and everyone else. Much like RR, our coaches wanted a dual threat QB and liked what they saw in Martinez--who wouldn't?
Martinez was in the same hs class as Denard, but a redshirt with zero college playing experience. It was a pretty big surprise that he won the job, we'd never seen him till the spring game.
Wow, wonder if DR will be able to take the pounding, you're using him an awful lot. Nebraska's spreading out the touches more. We're even playing our 2nd string QB for a series or two in the first half.
September 24th, 2010 at 8:37 AM ^
Oh we will Nebraska Guy, we will.
September 24th, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
Western Kentucky, Idaho, and Washington will make any offense look exciting.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
Connecticut, ND, Massachusetts, & Bowling Green :)
The real action for both schools starts in October, that will separate the men from the boys.
September 23rd, 2010 at 8:58 PM ^
to go to catch Oregon imo. That offense is crazy good.
September 23rd, 2010 at 8:59 PM ^
I'd say the oline is probably within the top 10 in the nation.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:11 PM ^
Oregon and Nevada.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
This.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
It's a receiving corps, not core.

Receiving Corpse.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
Unfortunately, no Michigan does not. There are a few more balanced and powerful offensive teams out there. Oregon, Alabama, Boise St., Oklahoma St and Stanford are all very strong.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:21 PM ^
I would say all of those teams, sans okie state, listed have better personnel on offense, especially alabama & boise state.
Except, I would say Alabama is more pragmatic, more workman like than Michigan, Oregon && Boise. The best athletes at every position, doesn't neccesarily mean they are the most exciting, tactically entertaining team.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:16 PM ^
Every position save one. Get Denarded.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:21 PM ^
The key word is "exciting". That certainly excludes Stanford.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:32 PM ^
And Alabama.
September 24th, 2010 at 2:43 AM ^
Subjective term. I know a few Bama fans, and they love the way they impose their will.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:37 PM ^
I knew they were sadists. Those sadist bastards.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:21 PM ^
Denards numbers are pretty balanced actually but I agree he does need more help. I just get the feeling with Oregon's offense that they could score at any second!
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:25 PM ^
behind Oregon and whatever NCAA '11 team Mike Leach is coaching on the PS3.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
UM has the most exciting offense in my country.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:53 PM ^
The general consensus seems to be that we have the most exciting colleg football player in the country. For the first time in my lifetime, I am now reading SEC fans post things like, "I want to try and watch as many Michigan games as I can this year just to see Robinson play". And "boy, that Robinson sure is fun to watch". Add in a big play threat in Stonum, a reliable receiver in Roundtree and a back with big play potential in Shaw, and yes, I believe we arguably have the most exciting offense in the country.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:18 PM ^
I like what you're saying here, and you had me right up until the very end. In all objective honesty, the answer to this is no, but we're on our way. Oregon wins this one hands down right now, but that's actually a good thing for Michigan, in my opinion, because that is where Michigan is going.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:17 PM ^
We'll see if Oregon puts up points against a real defense. They looked like crap against OSU last year.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
I'm certainly not going to argue that Oregon played particularly well in that game, but you are aware that only Navy rushed for more yards against Ohio State last year than Oregon did, right?
September 24th, 2010 at 5:11 PM ^
I can't help but notice the irony here. Wait and see what Oregon can do against a real defense? If that is what you really think, I hope you don't begrudge folks who think the same of UM.
September 24th, 2010 at 2:40 AM ^
I believe that you are simply way off putting Michigan's total offensive package anywhere near that level. Michigan needs to show a RB threat and a deep threat before we can put our team in the Top 5.
This is all just speculation at this point, of course. We won't know what Michigan's offense is really capable of until 4 weeks from now when some better measuring sticks have hit the schedule. But, while I love the Wolverines and think the start is encouraging for the offense, I think we need to keep it real until we face some true top 30 defenses.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
it is one of the most difficlut to defend. If you're a defensive coordinator, you probably are only hoping to slow them down. I doubt that any team they play this year will hold them for under 21. That to me is exciting.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:02 PM ^
It's the most exciting communist offense out there for sure!
Alabama is the most exciting red blooded American offense.
