Unless he's restricted, I'm…

Unless he's restricted, I'm guessing that he ends up at PSU. I remember at the end of the game. Franklin made an effort to go directly over to Black. During the handshake, he leaned in and talked to Black for an extended period of time. That stood out as odd to me, and at that moment, I knew Black was gone after the season

I'm not a fan of either team…

I'm not a fan of either team, I was just watching the game, so there's no bias in my observation. The Steelers were getting beat like a rented mule. The o line were impersonating matadors instead of blocking. Rudolph had already thrown 4 picks, and spent more time on his back than a flipped over turtle. He had been punished all night by that defense. He was upset, when Garrett had him, Rudolph tried to pull off his helmet. Which is a personal foul penalty. Garrett then starts pulling off Rudolph's helmet, PF penalty, Rudolph kicks Garrett ( you call it a foot shove, but that's still considered a kick) Decastro gets in between them. Rudolph comes back over and re engages Garrett, another PF. Garrett hits him with the helmet, another PF. In my opinion, they both should be tossed for the remainder of the season. If it would have been a rb vs. lb they would have suspended them both without hesitation. Qb involved, and the the other guy becomes the villain. Rudolph started the incident, then escalated it when he charged at him after someone separated them. Legally, if this were on the street. Garrett would be at home with a beer, while Rudolph would have a black eye, and be in jail. Garrett got separated from the situation ( duty to retreat/ fight until you can get away self defense) Rudolph charges at him while he's being restrained by someone. Rudolph is the Aggressor, even though he lost the exchange. The league needs to toss Rudolph as well

Garrett gets tossed ok,…

Garrett gets tossed ok, Pouncey gets tossed for kicking Garrett in the head ok. I was watching that game, the reason Garrett got mad..... Rudolph kicked him in the baby maker on purpose when he was going down. If someone with cleats kicks me in the groin, I'd hit them with whatever is my hand also. Why isn't Rudolph gone, there's even a specific penalty for kicking. Everyone is harping on Garrett, Rudolph tried to neuter another man, and the league doesn't do shit.

If Indiana wears an all…

If Indiana wears an all black alternative uniform this year. He will officially be a Big Black........ I'll see myself out now

The McGuirks are worth close…

The McGuirks are worth close to a billion, so that " barn" is probably nicer than most homes in Rochester Hills

I will go to a few games…

I will go to a few games this year, because my kids high school, and my Alma mater have established a bit of a rivalry. Saginaw Valley league football is always good, tough, hard hitting football. Nice combo of corn-fed linemen, and Uber athletic skill position players. Every year my family tries to make it to the Dow vs. Midland civil war. A game that my brothers and I played in.

Favorite memories: Trying to play corner against Charles Rogers, that was a tough out.

"Accidentally" laying the wood to Stu schweigert at a no contact scrimmage, it was a rb pass trick play. The rb lobbed the ball too high Stu went up and caught the pass, however I separated him from the ball with authority.

Summer time 7 on 7 drills, hosted by Bay City Western. One of our heated rivalries. There were 6 schools participating, but they made sure to stand by the entrance when we got there to start the intimidation. It was tense the entire day, always staring at each other as we walked past. It was palpable, the energy was buzzing throughout the day. Finally, the last matchup of the day was us verse them. This was 7 on 7 no pads tag your down passing exhibition. It was very physical from the beginning. Just waiting for someone to light the match and throw it on the powder keg. One of our db's was on a break crashing down on a comeback route. The QB threw it high and the kid got leveled. Everybody got quiet because our guy was on their side of the feild. The kid he tackled got up and pushed him. The match lit the powder, what ensued was like the charge scene in battle of the bastards from game of thrones. Two armies smashing into each other. We had a full compliment of every tight end, rb,Qb,receiver, linebacker,db on our team. At least 20 kids, and they had an equal number. Both coaching staffs let it roll for a minute or two before stopping it. That incident secured our status of being the toughest team in Michigan. I might be the only person on the blog that can write the following statement: I saw Phil Brabbs punch a guy....lol

Short's Brewery is not on…

Short's Brewery is not on this list. That is criminal, if you haven't tried it yet. Get Soft Parade, a fruit beer done correctly. No love for Dirty Blonde by Atwater either. As Meijer expands it's National footprint I'm sure more Michigan beers will end up on these best of list. If any of you end up in Midland, Mi. Check out Whichcraft, a nice little bar that specializes in serving Microbrews.

Going out on a limb, and it might break

I am not a Hoke apologist, but pulling the interim tag off Hoke might not be a bad idea and heres why: hes going to be relatively cheap I bet he would accept 3 mil, instead of the 5 everyone else would want. Hoke is a proven recruiter, and lastly I think he may have learned his lesson about offenses. His last two positions have been under spread coaches, he might have been converted. All he needs is an innovative O coordinator, and he might be succesful.

Youth is a helluva drug man

with age comes wisdom, this year can be explained in one play. On Saturday O'korn threw a fade to DPJ. The receiver caught the ball out of bounds. This happened because he ran his route to close to the sideline. That has happened in every game so far this year. Darboh/ Chesson would not have made that mistake. Next year DPJ won't make it either. With age comes wisdom.

A couple pennies

I rewatched the game a couple time, I wanted to see what was different between the Speight, and O'Korn offenses. I didnt see a dramatic difference in playcalling. There really didnt appear to be a difference in what Purdon't did on defense. They kept 8 men in the box even though the passing game started to click. I did notice the run game became better. They were still running into a defense that was cued on stopping the run. The playcalling for run plays had a couple wrinkles, not the passing game. I think with Speight in the difference would have been 1 less touchdown ( The sack avoidance to a completed pass was all him, that drive was his chemistry) I could be wrong, Im not an offensive guru, so anyone that is, what do you think? Watch it again, it looks like Purdue made zero adjustments throughout the second half.

Charles rogers

I played football in the San Valley conference when it was loaded with ridiculous talent. Mosques Wedlow at qb/s, and Chuck Rogers at Wr Rogers was by far the fastest in pads I have ever seen, and I'm fast in pads. he was so fluid it seemed like he ran in a super cavitation bubble, smooth and fast, I will second a poster above, his better sport was ball I think, the him against Jay Rich in a crosstown rivalry game, those were epic we went to a few, plot twist I didn't live in Saginaw at the time, double plot twist, my team beat his loaded Saginaw team twice in the same year, at the high both times.

congrats

Congratulations on your first predivorce...remember hit lawyer, delete the gym and tinder up...I think thats how it goes.

Don't Know if already mentioned

I don't believe that Apple has any real room to stand on in court with the privacy issue. The Phone was actually owned by a municipality. The lower court ruled in favor of the Govt, because it is there property, not owned by a private citizen. They should learn to pick their fights, this one is a loser,...... or  maybe Apple wants to lose this battle so they can pretend to fight when in reality they can do what all companies in telecom do. They cooperate with the government because they need the spectrum which the government regulates, and the money they give by awarding massive contracts, first Verizon had the federal govt contract for cellular service, now at&t has it you think the govt gives away billion dollar contracts without getting their back scratched. If you really think Apple doesn't have a back door into their phones then you are wearing your blinders.

marcus ray spread

Butch Jones currently runs a spread offense, when Marcus Ray was on staff with him at Central they ran a spread, a very successful spread offense, his comments are nonsense, I will never understand the endless disdain for running the myriad versions of spread offenses at Michigan.

A real suggestion

Richrod is not a real suggestion, but what about Calvin McGee,you can have the Rodriguez spread, without the Rodriguez baggage, and a guy that would be only tasked with offense, and even a potential HC if needed, it would be a good move for him to get out of rr's shadow to up his own profile. All the upside of Rodriguez, none of the downside.

I know everyone likes to

I know everyone likes to blame rich rod for online recruiting, but this staff has had three years to develop linemen, and I don't see the development, the best linemen are lean and schofield, after they go this year, who is your anchor next year, who has been developed as the guy to run behind when you need a first down. Since 2011 the passing game has went backwards, the running game has gone backwards, the oline has gone backwards, fitz can't find a hole even if you roll the fat in flour changes have to be made, USC pulled the trigger to save next year, maybe Brandon needs to take notes

Maybe hoke has no confidence

Maybe hoke has no confidence in the offense to win,if that's the case, that's a serious vote of no confidence in borges

Wash rinse repeat, wash rinse

Wash rinse repeat, wash rinse repeat. Much like the Borges play calling,if your shampoo isn't getting your hair clean.......maybe you change the freaking shampoo

Maybe the line is not ready

Maybe the line is not ready for this Frankenstein offense, so far the high point of the offense that Borges has called, is the 2011 season when they ran mostly spread, maybe they need to look at that and bring more of those plays back

Does anyone know if Ann Arbor

Does anyone know if Ann Arbor torch and pitchfork has a mobile app

Worse than 4ot against

Worse than 4ot against indiana

Another look

Mattison is very crafty, i looked at it again and I still think its a 3-3-5 under. He just disguises it by having Cam's hand down with the plan to drop him in coverage( Gordon never plays with his hand down he's a tweener lb/safety) It's not a 4-2-5, because Kovacs would need to be lined up bracketing the ILB's, with Gordon the deep safety. if it were a traditional nickel, then wouldn't Gordon and Kovacs  line up with the same relative deepness? Either way, this is a confusing look/package that will apply difficult reads for a QB.

Alignment

Is this nickel package a 3-3-5 under? ( Hiding behind blast wall, waiting for heads to explode)

Dantonio hates Michigan so much

So much so that he hosted the alabama coaching staff this summer to give pointers on defending against Michigan.

weak sauce

Well if  there are any true fans out there, come grab a seat. There is an empty one here next to me on the bandwagon. I survived this board thru the RR final season, lose the first game of the season and people have already turned into wrist cutters. Fair weather fans are annoying no matter which fan base they are in.

nice data crunch

So why didn't they tackle anyone on Alabama's team?

Don't remember many of those

I thought his footwork was definitely improved over last year, i particularly don't remember any backfoot throws. The main flaw i saw from Denard is a mental aspect, i think he was too hyper. He is a high energy guy, which sometimes can get uber-athletes in trouble. He seemed to be kinda bouncy.Reminiscent of a hummingbird on a three day Meth binge.

Board still stuck on emo /s

!. I looked over the board, and i didn't see any positive threads. The sole purpose of this post was to lok for positives from the game.

2. Not a Denard love fest, this is reality. i found some stats because you guys love to believe those lies. Arkansas, is considered to have the best Offense in the SEC. ( The ESPN pundits said that Alabama will get a real challenge instead of what they faced Saturday) Tyler Wilson and crew rushed for 17 yards, scored 14 pts, and went24/40 for 209 yards and threw too interceptions. MIchigan scored 14 pts. Drob Went 11/26 200 yards threw 2 picks. Sure Arkansas's completion percentage was better, but they scored the same amount of points, on way more pass attempts, Michigan doubled their rush yards, and threw the sam amount of interceptions, and allowed the same amount of yards on defense. Remain emo if you want to, but Michigan equaled the best offensive total of any team that Alabama faced last year, i don't think Michigan regressed, Bama is just still good. The likelihood that any team on the schedule can replicate Bama's defense is almost unlikely.Any other team will blitz Denard heavily. Alabama had the athletes on defense to apply outside blitz contain, and drop the ILB's into zone. The first pick you cant even blame on the QB, that was a timed route, unfortunately Roundtree got schooled and ate turf on a one handed jam. Enough with the emo Michigan sucks/ Denard armpunt crying, no one seems to be able to pass on this team, give Bama their due, those boys can play, and quite frankly Michigan got out played, the same way every other team that has faced Bama has been outplayed.

Myth

The myth is about the superiority of the defenses in the SEC. In Reality the deciding factor of who plays in the MNC game is a beauty pageant, it is rare that the 2 best teams actually play each other. Personally I think several teams could have beat Alabama in that game last year. If LSU would have had a playbook that had more plays in it, rather the Jordan Jefferson Deer in headlights play, and 5 yard out to Taco Shorts ( Taco Pants younger significantly smaller cousin, so small that it appeared Jefferson was throwing the ball into the turf on purpose) Lsu could have won.

It was while using the save

It was while using the save function that i got a 503 error message, and the original post was much more informative, I spent an hour compiling the data and composing the post.

Edit: who is Fits Clarke? Is that a Great Gatsby character?

OOc schedules were compared

The advantage leaned in Uof M's favor. MIchigan faced opponents that scored more points per game, while allowing the same amount of TD's as Alabama, i got my stats from ncaa.com, the metric i used was scoring defense, and scoring offense the numbers are pretty straightforward, advantage goes to Michigan .

bombs away

I say unleash the dragon, 3 and 4 wide sets gets the secondary to play the pass, gartuitous use of zone read, and roll out the pocket, give Drob more run/pass options. They are vulnerable around the edges, and Michigan has dangerous speed at once our players get to the edge. Finally the Vincent Smith screen pass, that thing could be lethal for the tide defense in this game.

3 different beers

I don't remember the name of the brewer, but the beer is called soft parade, a mellow way to start the day, then i would transition to Cowcatchers Red Ale ( Mt.Pleasant Brewing Company) Similar to killians and bass, a touch smoother finish, and finally to celebrate a wolverine victory, i would suggest Coal stoker Blackberry ( Mt.pleasant brewing company) think guiness and chambord for flavor context. Best of all all 3 are available at Meijer.

Probably too soon

Ocho in the clinko

Don't eat that Chicks Fil-a

Challenged writer

Yes i know my writing style is somewhat unique. It comes from my favrite literary sources which are in no particular order: Trumbo, Steinbeck, Vonnegut, and Ellison. I am nowhere near their order, but if you have read their work then you can probably see the influence HAHA.

Morgan got picked on alot

Morgan got picked on alot because of his inability to cover fast TE's or some shallow routes. Gordon gives you more of the ability to cover faster guys and still stand up against the run. I always figured that Morgan would eventually grow into a MLB, which i think is a better postion for him once he acquires the neccessary size. Honestly this is a good problem to have, so many talented LB that you don't know what to do with them all.

Dantonio and Discipline

Dantonio's tough talk on discipline is so hypocritical when it comes down to implementing it. It's kinda like when you 2girls One cup, then getting pop up by meatspin, only to get rickrolled to lemon party, but not as subtle as goatse..................

For the love all things respectable, do not try to find any of those, if you do may god have merc on your soul.

what is a pro style offense anyways?

I am glad that we have data to prove what most of us were hoping. This was definitely a clear case of coach speak to appease the bluehairs. HOWEVA, while some of you may believe that the manball memeis one that was made up by Brian. You are definitely out of the loop. Just look at all the post about the weight of the offensive linemen. All the love that everyone feels because fullback will now be restored to a scholarship position. All the people postulating the deployment of Tight ends now that Hoke is the coach.People love the 3 yards up the middle every down style of yore. The average sports fan has some antiquated idea of what pro style offenses look like. they believe it to be a double tight end single two wide set under center. Oddly i dont see that formation deployed very much in modern football. I see alot of 3and 4 receiver sets, tight end going in motion ( Don't remember the last time i saw a fullback used in a 2back set), and the coup de gras- more and more mobile quarterbacks. Multiple set is what i see in the NFL. Which brings me to the question, for all you experts out their ( especially Magnus your always good for solid answers that aren't biased) What is pro style offense? Am I right in thinking that i see the most successful teams running multiple, or doth mine eyes deceive me?

I thought the overall

I thought the overall principle behind the spread was to create 1on 1 matchups with defenders. i see this alot with the combo routes that are preferred in the passing schemes used by the NFL. the Larry szonka/Earl Campbell style running back is extinct in the Nfl as far as i can tell. It is also somewhat mystical that people think the running qb is some new spread derivative that has never worked in the NFL. Steve Young, Steve McNair, and Donovan Mcnabb did alright . I have stated before, if given the choice between Warren Moon, and Steve Young, ill take Steve young everytime

I grew up

I grew up in a humble home, my dad lost his job when mom was pregnant with me, so we lived in a low rent part of town, under the bridge....in a van...DOWN BY THE RIVER

I truly don't think that the

I truly don't think that the manball is the kind of offense U of M will run. I think it will probably look like what the spred and shred was supposed to look like under the old regime. There is a reason that the last guys really went after Devin Gardner. They only used 60 % of the playbook last year. I personally wanted to see more hback/TE sets, some I form power sets in the red zone. This was stuff they practiced, just never got implemented. Honestly though, the reason some of us use the manball meme is because this kind of rhetoric, coupled with the Michigan Man crap will kill the program.

as a side note, can someone tell me what a pro style offense is. when i watch pro football, i see alot of 3 and 4 receiver sets. I see qb's spending significant time in shotgun formations. I see alot of zone blocking being deployed with other schemes. I don't see alot of " Downhill running" in the old meaning of the term. I see alot of slot receivers making plays in space, i see alot of runningbacks catching passes out of the backfeild. Whether or not the bluehairs or talking heads on CFL want to admit it, the spread has made it way into pro ball, hybrid offenses are the way of the future,we shouldn't be holding on to vestigial schemes, we should be innovators you know.......the leaders and the best

Hmmm

So how did wisky fair against that gimmicky 3-3-5 defense TCU runs?

Forever faithful

In September when the season starts Coach Hoke will receive all the support any other coach has ever gotten from me.Those that are skeptical of the hire like myself im sure will support him also. That does not change the fact, that he is an unknown quantity. The Schembechler hire turned out to be great, however those that doubted him as a coach were still justified in doing so. When he turned out to be the Grant to woody Hayes's Lee, this ended the doubt in everyones mind. I am not Anti hoke, i hope Hoke turns out to be the offspring of Yost and Crisler, and that he wins 15 consecutive national titles. I also hold the right to question his ability until i see an on the feild product that is better than the last two guys.

Logic not computing

There has been an argument put forward that RR did not take personal responsibility for the teams shortcomings. Fair argument, however the evidence offered does not compute. one can not say that he did not take personal responsibility, then use a qoute saying " WE  did not execute". We is a possesive, by its very nature it includes a group at large and the speaker into one unit. By using the word we he implicate the team, the coaching staff, and himself as underperforming. When one implicates them self as a party guilty of malfeasance, doesn't that mean that they are taking responsibility. At least in a court of law it does, that is why we have the 5th amendment priviledges. In a criminal proceeding if a defendant were about to use the word we in reference to codefendants and taking responsibility, a quick recess would be in order, followed a 5th amendment plea. If your argument against a concept, can be used as an argument for a concept. You should choose a different argument.

( not trying to be douche, just give us a better rationale)

For the record

I was an ardent RR supporter, A fourth year would have been nice.I was underwhelmed by the Hoke hire. Massively irritated by the way the coach search was done. Now that Hoke is here, i will give him the support that i believe every coach deserves, however I have my grievances.I think that my conceptualization is similar to Brian's, this incestuous love affair was something that Brandon said was not important, and then promptly went out and got his first cousin pregnant. That " Michigan Man" meme may never die now. Then DB killed this recruiting class, which to me is the bigger sin. He has handicapped Hoke, this in turn I believe is the biggest fear that individuals such as myself have. What happens if Hoke doesnt make a new years day bowl next year. Everyone will be clamoring for his head. how will that affect the 2012 recruiting class.Worrying about the OC is important. The Media said that RR did not adjust his schemes. Will Borges adjust his to fit the talent currently on this one? Those of us that believe RR was treated unfairly are stunned by the way this hire has been viewed. Perhaps if the good ol boys club had reached out to the last coach we had, then we would have been in better shape. I have heard it said, that the NCAA investigation wasn't a freep hit job, but rather someone from inside the Alum/booster circle handed them that story. I believe we have the right to express our anger over this.

More importantly than anything else, if the offense is not tailored to the talent on the roster, then we indeed have doom. 7 wins this year with and improved offense should be 9 wins in 2011. That is where the expectation level is, and if the team wins less than that then it is a failure, and the higher ups will start to question the hire, then the factions wil again appear, and then there wil be another messy divorce, and we wil be Notre Dame. That is what Brian is most upset about, he doesnt want to be the irish. This was supposed to be the splash hire. If Hoke doesnt turn out then we wil indeed be The south bend crowd.Brian and others like me just don't want us to be Notre dame. People wanted LLOyd out beacause he couldn't win the big game, everyone got tired of going 8-4. the factions wanted rose bowl wins. The factions wanted someone else. Well now the factions got us into this . Maybe Brian is being that crazy guy with the end is nye sign, or perhaps Brian is that guy that builds the ark before the floods come.Who knows. But if Brian is selling ticket for his ark, i will hedge my bets and by a seat. Because if the factions arise again, i would rather float on a boat, than swim all the way to south bend.

edit: Hoke just stated he would tailor his offense to the talent we have. I am still tracking the price for those ark tickets, but im also planning on good weather.

Introduction

The Halftime Introduction of Brady Hoke should be emceed by Denard Robinson. I don't care what he says after that. He can go all " double rainbow guy" and play chariots of fire after that. I just want to know that the most dangerous player ( and obvious heisman front runner) is going to be wearing maize and blue. Imagine how much love and goodwill he could attract from that happening.

1.How quickly can you steal

1.How quickly can you steal TCU's defensive coordinators?

2. How do you plan to deploy Denard

3.Have you ever, or do you ever plan on wearing a sweater vest?

4. Do you know where hell is?

5.Follow up from question4, if you don't think it's Columbus Ohio give 5 reasons why?

As far as the wide out meme goes.

Roy roundtree has over 900 receiving yards, and he doesnt even have the best hands on the team, and is not the fasest guy on the receiving corps ( best route runner though) Stonum had over 600. We are attracting receivers without a problem. What we don't have are Nose tackles, and Middle linebackers. ( we need more than martin and demens to stop power run teams). Teams don't beat Michigan around the corners, they beat em up the middle.

Revisionist history

Perhaps we have all forgotten the running qb's that annually shredded the BO-Mo-Carr defenses. Maybe people don't understand that LC wanted to retire years before he did. Maybe people in the midwest don't that 4 out of the last 5 NC are spread teams. Maybe they don't realize that teams like Stanford and OSU are successful because they run multiple, and employ a running quarterback. Maybe they don't realize that Denard threw for 2500 yards, which is historically on par for wolverine quarterbacks. Perhaps they don't realize that LC wanted to run multiple with a lot of spread formations. He recruited Tebow as a QB really hard. Before that there was Jermaine Gonzalez . Furthermore, how can any of us forget that Henne quite possibly would have been riding pine save for his senior year because of Uber athlete Antonio Bass, whom LC loved. The system really doesnt matter as long as it wins. Maybe some of you don't watch NFL , but many teams are utilizing spread concepts. Hell, Drew stanton ran a read option for a touchdown. the patriots use the pass happy Texas Tech version, with receivers that are under six feet tall. We all know that Vick is the Nfl leader for rushing yards by a Qb, guess whose second.....Aaron Rodgers of the Packers. Hate to break it to the supporter of the 6'5 pocket statue. The spread is here and its going to stay, and it will be adopted and adapted for the NFL. Why would take a guy that is tall and big and slow with pin point accuracy, over a guy that is tall and big and fast with pinpoint accuracy. To put it more succinctly, who would you rather have as your quaterback, Warren Moon, or Steve Young. Warren Moon had quite possibly the best deep ball that a quarterback has ever thrown, but Young has the Rings, and the Hall of fame, i'll take Steve Young.

good question

its either burnt siena, or oompa loompa red #6.
