Split QB starts
It's total garbage. It's early August. If there is a real QB competition there is no way they have made up their minds about it. When they do decide there is basically zero chance this sort of arrangement would be used. And, even if they were to make such a decision, there is no way the employee of a tv station is getting this news before Webb, Lorenz, umbig11, Brian, etc. There are at least four levels of implausibility here.
I don't know anything about her or her "sources" either, it might be a good-faith mistake. But it's totally wrong.

Not only is it garbage it doesn't even make sense logically.
Start one player versus a top 15 team in the country, in Game 1, in Dallas then let the other player start against Cinci and Air Force at home...then compare them?
lol...think about that.

that means he has lost the last 4 of 5 games he has started. Isn't it plausible to consider a QB change after the FL game? Beating teams you're suppose to beat isn't an achievement. Its beating teams that are good as your team that differentiates a winnig QB from a mediocre one.

You're assuming a loss, assuming that Speight is responsible for the loss and assuming that Peters gave the coaches reason to move him ahead of Speight. Why don't you throw in an assumed injury, then you'll really have reason to make a change.
whether Peters ever sees meaningful snaps in 17 will depend entirely on HIS OWN performance.

This is the correct answer. You can add it will depend on how the team does in specific games. I expect Peters to see lots of snaps against AF, Cincinnati, Rutgers, MSU and a couple of other teams.

That would be a terrible idea. We have a brand new receiving core. Whoever starts needs to get comfortable with those WRs by the time we play PSU. Also starting a new QB against Air Force just seems scary.
Staring any QB against AF isn't "scary." Their scheme and personnel on defense are nothing special. It's the defense that has to be "scared."
I wouldn't say Harbaugh is a legendary coach at all yet. If he retired tomorrow, 20 years from now his name wouldn't be brought up outside of Michigan circles and even that would be rare. Legendary coaches win championship.
i get what you are saying.
No way the coaches would decide this one week into camp, and no way they would let it get out if they did.
Fake News
that doesn't do much for continuity on offense.
That tweet seems very clickbait-y to me...
I honestly believe Jim would not allow something like this leak out.

I am gonna believe Jaime Edmonds...I have no idea if she pulled this out of her ass or someone was just giving her misinformation but she is a horrible source to spread what is clearly FAKE NEWS. We know Jim isn't going to do something this asinine, and he wouldn't announce it this early in camp to anyone.
Utter bullshit. No one is saying that to anyone right now, and likely no one on this staff ever will be.
She reports sports on channel 4/WDIV and host Sunday night sports show
The only way this makes sense is if there is still lingering problems with Speights shoulder and we want to rest him while giving Peters some experience (in case Speight is injured midseason).
Drevno's comments from the presser make waaaaaaaaay more sense.

is well aware of this. 5 points away from a potential national title. S. M. H.
I still think M and Alabama were playing the best football at the end of that season and in an 8 team playoff that might have been the title game.

You guys act like news hasn't been leaked before. I don't believe it, btw.

Harbaugh is dreaming of each player starting, playing winning. Teenage boys are dreaming themselves winning. Grown men dream these dreams. Nothing is silly. It's all too serious.
I don't accept the source, and this strategy doesn't seem very Harbaugh like, but it would sort of make sense if they really wanted to prep Peters for the future.
Like even if Peters outplays Speight in camp, I doubt if I'd want a player making his first start in what's essentially a road game, against a ranked team. You go with the experienced player no matter what. THEN you ease Peters into the role over the next few cupcake games.
But then again, this doesn't seem like Harbaugh, and there's a reason he gets paid the big bucks.
