I fear the game will never be the same for all the reasons you mentioned.
We need a governing body at a time when the powers that be are trying to get rid of the NCAA.
Even if things eventually get straightened out, the next 3-5 years will more than likely be college football in a free fall like it is now with the usual suspects looking to capitalize.
For the current fiscal year, the athletic department projects a slight operating surplus of $0.2 million based on operating revenues of $215.1 million and operating expenses of $214.9 million.
The athletes who don't make the pros have a University degree.
How is that not working?
Dinosaurish? It worked.
Right now, nobody has a better solution, but we were told there were BILLIONS to be had for everyone.
The only solutions I've seen proposed are for football only and entail turning college athletics into some sort of semi-pro league. Are fans going to be as enthusiastic about that? Eliminate non-revenue sports? That in itself is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Pay the coaches less, and lose them all to the NFL.
I realize we can't go backwards, but we can certainly slow the sentiment of turning college football into a semi pro league that nobody cares about.
No idea what we have in Hall, but if we were that fond of him, I would think he would've got more than 15 carries this year. Really bizarre how neither Stokes or Hall got any carries this year.
Semaj is a nice player but he's obviously undersized and doesn't have top end speed.
Don't understand the RB ball distribution this year.
Neither Corum or Edwards had their best years, yet nobody else really got a chance to carry the ball and that's with all the cupcakes on our schedule.
Mullings 32x
Hall 15x
Stokes 4x
How does Stokes only get 4 carries for the entire year after the promise he showed last year? I guess it's Hart's way of telling the kid to transfer. Also, Hall only getting 15 carries...Hart is clearly paving the way for the 2 talented incoming freshmen.

It's his 3rd offense.
100% has to go.
Even so, how long is Chip Kelly going to be a Buckeye?
Oh it's Coming...The Rapture
His speed returned down the stretch.
His speed in the AL & WA games looked very good.
They've also pulled over FSU and UF recently.
There's no rhyme or reason as to whom they're pulling over.
…
It's not the NCAA's fault.
As soon as they try to enforce anything these schools get real dumb and claim to not know the rules and sue the NCAA.
Whether it's the NCAA or not, someone is going to have to govern this mess, but the "playing dumb" by all these schools is a real joke.
What we should we be worried about is "Do we care about winning"?
Frankly, I don't really think our board or AD care enough.

I'm a Wolverine & Lion.
You are definitely not alone.

It still hurts, him leaving.
But college football is so incredibly messed up.
The NCAA needs to…
Bingo.
The NCAA needs to come out and say what you can and can't do.
The real NIL has been hijacked.
What you are hearing called NIL now is pay to play and enticement to attend.
Then you have the issues of collectives. That's not what NIL was intended for either.
Looking forward to the new hires to fill out this staff.
My initial impression is that between Harbaugh and Herbert - the Charger players are going to think they're back in college.
Herbert's shtick doesn't seem ideal for the NFL.
…
Big time pass on Hurtt.
Would rather promote from within.
I can't…
Mixed feelings.
I can't believe he took that gig.
I wonder if he would have stayed if college football wasn't such a dumpster fire and so poorly managed.
But no, I won't root for him.
You're either a Wolverine or you're not and he chose to be a Charger - and to be honest I'm not a big fan of the NFL.

You forgot to mention that Football pays for the 30 other non-revenue sports. It's not just coaches and universities getting rich.
You're not offering a solution.
You're just turning college athletes into pros.
You're argument that nobody else...blah blah blah
It's a unique situation. They aren't auto workers.
If they have proper NIL arrangements, their earning potential isn't capped.
The athletes who don't make the pros have a University degree.

Respectfully disagree on all counts.
The old system worked wonderfully.
Kids got a free education and they got a chance to showcase their skills for the NFL.
In fact, it's STILL the best system. Old system plus LEGIT NIL is just fine.
Instead, we're dealing with Enticements, Pay to play, bastardized NIL deals and portal poaching.
That's real Damage and it's destroying the game.
There should be limits on player rosters and portal transactions.
I didn…
Comically executed?
I didn't find anything funny but I can tell you only a handful of backs have that skill.
The Don you see next year will be more like the OSU/WA Don. He was working through some things this year.
Going to be hard to pay PS to the the football players who drive the revenue for the entire ADept. when you keep adding expensive non-revenue sports.
Just sayin'...
It's gotten real…
I agree.
It's gotten real old. It's time for Jim to move on.
I can't imagine anyone wanting a middling NFL Charger gig over UM who has reached elite status.
Maybe, it's just because I think the college game is much better.
Forgive me for being disappointed, but I can't hide it.
Good Luck coach, but please move on.
Defense will be very good/elite.
Offense needs some portal work.
QB, WR, OL
You couldn't be more…
Wow.
You couldn't be more wrong on all counts.
To say this is not a school that top WR's should take seriously is laughable.
You just named a bunch of guys that Michigan put in the NFL. That is the goal right?
Ronnie Bell was a basketball player who Michigan got drafted.
Collins was drafted in the 3rd round.
DPJ was a big recruit but not everyone is going to be a star.
And yes, the combine is more important than game film for a lot of scouts.
Just…
That's nonsense.
Just because we run the ball doesn't mean we can't get top receivers.
What's nuts, is the NCAA not having helmet wires when the NFL went to them 30 years ago.
Hopefully, that changes next year.
This is true, however the NCAA needs to clarify what NIL is because because for many schools it's flat out pay to play.
Poorly…
Absolute trainwreck.
Poorly cast. Weak script.
Hollywood has no new ideas.
Please no more Wonka films unless Gene is resurrected.
nice get here

This Absolutely IS an MSU problem.
Mark Dantonio buried DOZENS of these complaints as reported by MSU's own employees.
Sure, it happens everywhere, and yes we all need to do better, but they aren't Off the Hook because it happens everywhere.

I heard Solomon is playing professionally in Italy.
So it essentially would pave the way to legalize what NIL has become - Fake guaranteed NIL deals and enticements if I am understanding it correctly.
Basically pay to play but legal.
As many have stated in the past, it will probably lead to 1 30 team super conference.
Exactly why they need to get their degrees, especially when it's free.
Someone needs to read up on:
1. NIL
2. Improper Enticements
It reminds me of Walker and MSU.
Tuck poaches him from Wake
He spends 3 months in East Lansing
Walks away from the team for the bowl game
And he's a Spartan legend.
Michigan did the right thing.
Don't forget the Marquette super secret scrimmage.
They were jumping the count.
That could have been corrected.
Maybe the portal is a better option than these 1 and dones...
Very happy for the man, but there is no excuse for shutting down the passing game.
You've got the best QB to ever wear the maize and blue, a heismann candidate no less and you don't allow him to throw a pass in the 2nd half?
That sequence inside the 10 yard line was inexcusable.
There’s a difference between being conservative and being one dimensional.
My biggest concern is our running game.
I find it hard to believe the OL and both RB's have regressed as much as the stats show and I don't buy it's because we're throwing the ball more.
I think we're running too many plays with obvious running formations.
In other words, just follow Bredeson to the ball.
I would much rather see us come out without a fullback and run the ball Saturday.
Also, JJ will need to use his legs Saturday.
Can't run 30 plays with Bredeson in the game and have them all be runs either.
I think it's obviously Stalions.
I think he was using this game to experiment with his gear.
I think the overall advantage is minimal.
If you think someone has your signs and you're too lazy to run the plays in or make a wristband then you deserve the ass beating you just took.
I'm disappointed that Michigan hired this kid to do anything.
Him and Edwards both look slower.
I'm wondering if they bulked up too much.
That will do it.
Some of you aren't giving him enough credit.
Harrell has been very very good.
His improvement year to year is a testament of M's ability to develop.
One thing I disagree on is Barrett/Hausmann.
Hausmann is a better LB.
And I don't think it's close.
