OT: Maryland v Rutgers(2017) to take place at Yankees Stadium
http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2016/05/rutgers_to_play_mar…
A classic Big Ten football matchup coming to NYC! Consider the future created!
Who?
'cause there's gonna be a lot of confusion if they have to play by Losers Walk.
They can use all they attention they can get. Pretty good idea.
Football in the baseball stadiums is stupid. The novelty wore off a while ago.
not even the XFL thought of that.
Poorly planned? Sure! ... but still an interesting thing to watch. I thought it was awesome when someone almost scored in the off-limits endzone (was it an INT return?)

Couldn't they get just as much attention playing in the Meadowlands? Or, are they worried that the extra seats would all be empty?
...it's a "home" game against ND or PSU.
Same reason why Washington State had to play their home game against ND in San Antonio.
I didn't even know that.

To your point, I would not be surprised to see some fans their wearing their Michigan garb, that will go over well.
That game is the day of The Game.
If any Michigan fan were to skip watching the Ohio State game in favor of attending a Rutgers and Maryland game, they would have to be mentally evaluated and destroy all of their Michigan gear.

What makes you think Delaney cares more about establishing Rutgers as NYC's school than the Big Ten as NYC's conference?
Over on /r/cfb someone floated the idea that the high, close stadium walls will amplify the noise and make for a really loud environment. I honestly couldn't tell if they were being serious.
Fans wearing these will also help....
I went to the Pinstripe Bowl this year between Indiana and Duke. Yankee Stadium is a TERRIBLE place for a football game. The dimensions are all wrong.
In one endzone, nobody can see because they're too high up (the outfield). At the fifty yard line (a.k.a. the premium seats), you are the furthest away from the action just because of how the field fits. I paid $15 for the experience, but that was in large part because it was two high scoring, no-defense teams. Rutgers vs. Maryland? Nope.
I guess they will have to give away a hell of a lot of cokes to get people to come to that game.
I did both the Lehigh/Lafayette and Pinstripe Bowl games in '14 --- there are TONS of bad seats. I learned from the Lehigh game what seats to get for the bowl game that would be at least half way decent (the non-outfield end zone).
I will say this for Yankee Stadium: it's a good location. Minutes from mid-town Manhattan, and that makes for a lot of fun. That subway ride is a whole lot better than going out to the Jersey swamplands.
I'm a little surprised that you went twice. Football in baseball stadiums feels like a gimmick that gets a lot of people once and then everyone says, "Well, that was stupid, not doing that again."
The Detroit Lions played their games in Briggs Stadium / Tiger Stadium until 1974 when they moved to the Silverdome. The football field ran in the outfield from the right field line to left center field parallel with the third base line. Both benches were on the same side of the field because there wan't room on both sides, but at least there was room for the end zone and goal posts at both ends since the field was well over 120 yards from the first base wall to left center field..
Best seats were a little past third base.
Delany has to go...these outdated money grabs are terrible. These were "cool ideas" 10 years ago. Not anymore.
B1G Basketball Tournament is Washington DC next season and then MSG the year after.
HOW ABOUT DETROIT, HUH? WHY DON'T YOU STOP HANDING OUT EVENTS TO TEAMS WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR TWO YEARS!?!

maybe once Little Caesars Arena or whatever it's called is done. Aren't M and Detroit Mercy playing there in 2017?

I swear Sam and Ira were talking about it earlier this week.
As an out of towner, a long weekend where I could see MBB and the Wings both at the new arena would have me buying tickets the second they went on sale.
You are right again, as these events will sell out whether they are in Detroit, Chicago, Indy, Minn. and the TV ratings should be the exact same.
Does he really think that by having it at those other "big media" locations that any potential incremental revenue per seat will outweigh the chance that people from the Midwest will not travel there thus not having a sell out.
The big ten tourney at auburn hills probably wouldn't sell out. Where are people staying? How are they getting to and from the stadium? Maybe don't build your stadium in a suburb with nothing else 45 minutes from the city with no public transit option
Yeah because having the big ten tourney in fucking auburn hills michigan makes sense. There is a reason detroit hasn't hosted and its because detroit doesn't have an easily accesible basketball stadium. Sorry NYC and DC are desirable travel locations with large amounts of big ten alumni, a combination which is almost sure to gaurantee strong ticket sales.
Same reason Goodell isn't going anywhere.
This idea is bad and Delaney should feel bad. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I hope they both lose. And then Rutgers loses again, somehow. Making them a combined 0-3 for playing in such a stupid game.
Or as it will likely become dubbed - The Cousin Oliver vs Poochy Classic
If this was the first game played on the International Space Station, I would not be the least bit intrigued.
on a college campus? Tough choice. Bronx or college campus? Bronx or college campus? College campus is in New Brunswick! Some may actually opt for the Bronx. I just cannot imaging tailgateing in the Bronx.
Rutgers is going to lock down all that LONG ISLAND TALENT
...and the whole world shrugged
Neat.

The majority of Rutgers fans are opposed to a game at Yankee Stadium, with 69.3 percent of over 2,904 respondents to an NJ.com poll voting against having a game in the Bronx. Rutgers is now scheduled to have six true home games in 2017.
If you won't see the game in Piscataway and you reside there, why would you go all the way to the Bronx to see it? I mean, the Yankees organization is all too happy, I assume, to have people in the seats and paying to be there on a day when normally this wouldn't happen, but it's awesome that Rutgers thinks the Yankees care.
