I agree, it seems like a win for Michigan right now as this relieves the scholarship crunch and there are a lot of players coming back to play at the 5.

I hope for him it is a win as well as he had a lot of promise his freshman year that got de-railed this year and I hope the change in scenery works wonders for him.

He's gotta end up at a better academic school than FGCU I would think. He's probably not going pro so he's gotta worry about a degree, and that would be such a step down from UM. Maybe something like UCF (while not nearly on par with UM, they have some pretty good programs) if we are looking around the state, especially with Dawkins going to coach there?

He certainly made a contribution as one of the few low post options on the roster for the past two seasons. He' certainly been much more reliable than say DJ Wilson. This year was rough on him though. In any case best of luck to Ricky. Seems like a fine young man...

Quick question: So numbers wise we are now 1 under the limit with Spike also not coming back. Does this mean we have room for one more in this class (i.e. the Sacred Heart kid)?

Will always root for the dude for choosing Blue and giving us his best efforts, but when you choose to play in the elite arena, be it business, politics or sports,  you justifiably open yourself up to comparisons to others in the elite field, and Doyle just didn't measure up at that level.  Not sorry to see him go at all, and hope it  points to Beilein finally starting to wake up to the need for more athleticism, muscle and bounce in his bigs.

I've been pretty critical of Doyle, but I really am wishing him the best. After he seemed to show some potential as a Freshman, he never quite put it together. I think if he lands at a solid mid-major program, he will have a pretty big impact.

division 2 center. or 1aa. whatever the next division is called now. too small to play big10, division 1 ball. I hope his next coach gives him sweatbands, wristbands. might help him catch a pass.

I think in this case it will not be a huge loss to the team, no offense intended to Ricky.  He was very clearly passed by Donnal and Wagner in the last few games, and with two more big men coming in, a path to consistent playing time didn't seem available unless he really turned it around.

but even still you'd think he'd at least have enough self-respect to come clean about what he did. I understand people make mistakes, and I understand people cut corners, but it takes an inhuman level of denial and evil to not acknowledge the error of one's ways after being publicly outed, especially when you work in the media.

Like some others here, I still think he is capable of playing Division 1 ball...just outside of the Power 5. Good luck and may you find success elsewhere.

"Plenty of potential to develop into being a fine college player,"

You have to love that backhanded compliment.
What exactly did Beilein even see in him to offer a full ride scholly to Michigan? Another recruiting blunder

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!!

The post about his sleep apnea made me think about my wife's poor sleep.

Ever since I have been nagging her about going to a doctor to get tested.

Thanks to Ricky, I legitimately have been able to nag my wife about being healthy instead of the orther way around!!!

I LOVE YOU RICKY!!!!
