It's great to see the amount of quality depth there is on this roster (CB, LB, and RB specifically.) That's what recruiting success, and more normative levels of attrition will get you. If the OL approaches any level of competence this year, expectations for 2015 will be high.

I don't know that it's vital to re-read the first three before continuing with 4 & 5. I'm on my second read of AFfC after reading all 5 sequentially. The thing is, if you don't know what happens in 4 & 5, you'll miss the significance of much of the forshadowing pertaining to the more recent books. Regardless of what you decide to do, I agree that it's a lot of fun to get new meaning from seemingly trivial events on the second read.
As far as favorite chapters, I really like Catelyn VII (ACoK) and Jamie V (ASoS). Jamie's story arc is my favorite in the series, and these sections add great depth to Jamie as a character.

It's fun to look back and compare where players are compared to MGo's early projections. A potential suggestion for people with more writing skill than I posess: We have the "Hello" posts and recruiting profiles. It might also be cool if there were individual posts dedicated to a career retrospective for each player when he departs (via graduation, attrition, whatever.) It could have comparisons of projections to actual performance, top 5 highlights, etc.
Something like this would result in a pretty cool archive of players' careers that we could show our kids someday down the road. (Anyone besides me anticipate difficulty adequately explaining the magnificence of Denard to your kids with words alone?) Anyway, just a thought. Keep up the great work.

"I guarantee the no-show or no-buy students don't give flying fuck that they play commercials during breaks or pipe in music."
I don't think that's the case for all of the students you're talking about. Some of them have undoubtedly grown up within the culture of Michigan Football as it was pre-Brandon and Martin. Many of them are the children of the GOML alums.
Sure, there are other factors at play, but I don't think you can dismiss this one out of hand.

Priorities, good sir.
We'd all prefer "a more evenly distributed level of talent per class." Let's worry first about putting together a running game that gains yards. Isaac would help in this regard.

I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

Thanks for posting this. Fun read. I've always thought it would be interesting if somebody were to go back over all of the old "Hello" posts, and compare the "Prediction based on flimsy evidence" to how the athlete's career actually played out. Maybe some sort of brief career retrospective / "send off" post at the end of each player's time at Michigan, posted by the MgoStaff (or whomever). Embed some highlight clips, put the posts in an easy to use archive, and people would have a cool way to teach their kids about some of their favorite players from the MgoBlog era. Wish I had the time or know-how.

I can't believe that people still seem to think that Joe D is going to be employed by the Pistons when the draft rolls around. Unlikely, methinks.

I hate MJ as much as the next guy, but LeBron has nowhere near the competitiveness or mental toughness of MJ. LeBron would win against the Bad Boys in today's NBA, given how the game is called now. But if it was 25 years ago, they'd be scraping him off the floor at the end of the game.
