"We're in the ass-kicking business, and business is booming"
Michael Barrett had a quote for the ages yesterday, so I took the liberty of turning it into a T-shirt. I'll send him some NIL money after I get this made.

Yeah... I'm going to need two of those.
October 15th, 2023 at 9:33 PM ^
Would love to have a block M on there but that might violate copyrights from um.
October 15th, 2023 at 11:11 PM ^
Can the block M be used if it’s in conjunction with a player and NIL without paying the school’s licensure fees? When Topps (Bowman) first introduced collegiate trading cards they weren’t allowed to show the school logo. Like the wings on a helmet would be photoshopped off. It wasn’t just Michigan, it was basically every school. That has changed now. The images now don’t need to be edited and they’ve even added the block M to the card. It’s possible they bought licensing rights but considering how many schools there are, that would probably be expensive. Expensive but possible.
Just curious if anyone knows the answer.

As a business, you can work with a couple licensing companies that represent the majority of colleges. So it’s pretty simple.
one exception is Michigan, which you have to work with separately as they are not part of the collectives. At least that is the way it was 5 years ago when we were working on college logos for Yeti drinkware.

Cool shirt if we win it all this year - but as we head into November, would rather not jinx it.
October 15th, 2023 at 9:37 PM ^
THIS 1000%
October 15th, 2023 at 9:48 PM ^
Meh, I like the swagger. UM has been too polite for far too long, even when we were great back the 90's.
Teams like Miami, USC, Bama have had swagger during their runs. UM is starting to have it - saw it really blossom last year in the Shoe.
If you're good, talk and back it up.
October 15th, 2023 at 9:55 PM ^
Different strokes for different folks. I prefer, "speak quietly and carry a big stick."
Talk means nothing. The world is full of talk.
October 16th, 2023 at 7:13 AM ^
Win with character. Win with cruelty.
i like something more original
October 16th, 2023 at 8:07 AM ^
Economics question:
Why is talk cheap? Because supply always exceeds demand.
October 15th, 2023 at 10:11 PM ^
Kind of like last years “swagger” going into TCU when our players kept laughing to the media about how our run game would destroy their 3-3-5?
there’s nothing wrong with quiet confidence and just showing up and taking care of business.
October 16th, 2023 at 11:03 AM ^
Right, a la Tom Brady who won more SB than any team in the NFL.
October 15th, 2023 at 10:18 PM ^
You must’ve forgotten about the “revenge tour”. Harbaugh’s teams have always had swagger. A little too much before they actually accomplished anything. I liked Wilson’s approach. Just going into EL to win another game, no drama.
October 16th, 2023 at 12:19 PM ^
I can see both sides of the debate. On the one hand, the quote has shades of "the revenge tour" and we know how that ended. At the same time, the current team has won back to back Big Ten titles and now seems to have the player leadership that was missing in 2018. So I think they'll prove to be more than just talk.
October 16th, 2023 at 8:19 AM ^
gross.
October 16th, 2023 at 8:40 AM ^
It was funny the first time. In the movie.
October 16th, 2023 at 10:44 AM ^
yeah, and it was in pulp fiction, so you kinda go in expecting it.
just not wild about stuff that makes this a less-welcoming place. to whoever.

My 2018 Revenge Tour T-Shirt tucked away in the back of my closet concurs.

One recommendation:
(Centered? Justified?)
Ass kicking (fancy)
Business (big capital font)
And Business is (smaller fancy font)
BOOMING (big capital font)
October 15th, 2023 at 9:54 PM ^
+1
The small font used on Booming makes it look like a whisper
October 15th, 2023 at 9:27 PM ^
Love the mindset!
October 15th, 2023 at 9:27 PM ^
“Ass-Kicking Business” should be in bigger font (and the same font, at that).
October 16th, 2023 at 8:10 AM ^
I disagree. I think every letter should have its own size and font.
October 15th, 2023 at 9:27 PM ^
"You probably heard we ain't in the prisoner-takin' business; we in the killin' Nazi business. And cousin, business is a-boomin'."

Lol. Me gusta ! Might be the quote of the year from. M. Barrett.
October 16th, 2023 at 8:00 AM ^
In the article, he is quoting "coach" which could be Harbs or Minter I guess, either way it is great.

We should say F Putin and his cronies or even their government. I've lived in the Middle East long enough to have have received a lot of, "we don't like your government but your people are great" type comments about America. Let's pay that forward.

Define "some NIL money"
October 15th, 2023 at 10:20 PM ^
And can it go to JJ so he might stay another year???
October 16th, 2023 at 1:37 AM ^
He will sell 100 T-shirts and wire Barrett his $1m check.
October 15th, 2023 at 10:47 PM ^
I’m not superstitious but….
This feels like Revenge Tour
Again, I’m not superstitious
Love the shirt though
October 15th, 2023 at 10:57 PM ^
Love the quote, hate the shirt. Kill it with fire

“Watching their hope slowly go away. Watching that fight kind of diminish from them,” Barrett described as his favorite thing to see happen to an opponent through the course of a game.

"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women!”
October 16th, 2023 at 11:53 AM ^
I always thought that quote was derivative of an actual quote of Genghis Khan (perhaps intentionally):
"What, in all the world, could bring the greatest happiness?" Khan was asked.
Khan replied "To crush your enemies, to see them fall at your feet — to take their horses and goods and hear the lamentation of their women. That is best."
October 15th, 2023 at 11:31 PM ^
AH, HELL YEAH!! I AM SUPER-FUCKING-PUMPED OVER THAT QUOTE!!!
October 15th, 2023 at 11:31 PM ^
I like the boa constrictor comparison more, leave the ass-kickin' to Ohio in the 2nd half. That's what it felt like at the end of the 2nd quarter after the 4th down TD to Wilson. Indy went three and out and we scored again. Then opened the 2nd half with the great TD pass to Loveland, followed by 3 and out, followed by another TD to go up 35-7. Then the additional Indy turnovers happened.
Many of us, including myself, expect Sparty to come out Saturday night insanely good for a few drives on O and D. We have to do to them what we did on Saturday. Slowly strangle them until their fans leave by midway thru the 3rd Q. As a student, I went to the 1983 and 1985 games (42-0 and 31-0 UM wins). It was amazing to see empty seats and jubilant UM fans celebrating with 5 minutes to go in a beatdown at Spartan Stadium.
Will Mork even approach any of our staff in such an ending or will he slither his way behind state police to the tunnel????
October 16th, 2023 at 1:35 AM ^
I want him to leave the stadium with his tail between his legs. And never come back.
October 15th, 2023 at 11:51 PM ^
Shirt, no. Top-notch thrash metal album, yes.
October 16th, 2023 at 12:58 AM ^
Little concerned about the hubris of potentially jumping the gun and having karma come back to and kick us in the ass. But love the T-shirt just the same, where can I buy one?
October 16th, 2023 at 8:57 AM ^
We need to chill out and focus. Remember the leadup to the 2020 game after we throttled Minnesota and Staee lost to Rutger? Everyone was predicting a 72-0 blowout for us. The result? Not quite. We need to keep our heads on straight and go about our business.
October 16th, 2023 at 11:08 AM ^
Ambry Thomas, Nico, Hutch, O-ja-bo all not on the field or a different outcome.
October 16th, 2023 at 12:24 PM ^
I don't think the comparison of a really good team (this year) to a bad one (2020), who was also playing in empty stadiums, makes much sense. I don't think there is much, if anything, MSU can do to win Sat night. I expect them to play hard for a quarter and a half or so and make a game of it for that long, but they will likely get run over in the 2nd half.
October 16th, 2023 at 10:41 AM ^
We're 32-3 over the past three years, with two Big Ten championships and two CFP appearances so far. We can enjoy it.
October 16th, 2023 at 1:28 AM ^
“I will go down as one of the greatest running backs to ever play the game…I’ll be up there with Walter Payton and Barry Sanders.”
Talk is cheap.
October 16th, 2023 at 2:02 AM ^
Not sure why we keep hammering our own player over a simply display of hubris when the team is kicking ass regardless.
October 16th, 2023 at 2:19 AM ^
Bragging about how tough we are when we’ve played two teams with winning records and one of them is that national power UNLV.
