Jeff Moss story is out...
Moss' "article" is about the PeruBall game/drill played at Exposure U. There were allegedly some injuries that took place, due to an absence of pads worn by the players, per the game's rules. He's comparing it to Morris' concussion debacle. Personally, the only thing I find "disgusting" about it is this: (If you are a parent of a child who was injured during the Exposure U. camp please contact me at [email protected].)

Better call the United Nations... these are clearly human rights violations of the worst sort.

have lower standards. The article is entirely speculation and innuendo based on anonymous sourcing, which he then uses to attack Harbaugh, and University of Michigan community in general. Moss's comments about Harbaugh being "autistic" are particularly offensive, both to Harbaugh and autism community. Moss was right; this article is "disturbing", but not for the reasons he supposed.

Can Harbaugh or UM sue for defamation of character, assuming it is all false?
August 12th, 2015 at 9:40 AM ^
filing fee. But would it be successful? Almost certainly not. Harbaugh is a publc figure, and public figures must show not only that the information in the article is false, but that it was published knowing it was false. This is very hard to prove.
It also wouldn't be wise. A lawsuit would just bring attention to the article. Neither Harbaugh nor Michigan have anything to gain from that.

Can you win? Eh.
Can you sue? DAMN STRAIGHT, THIS IS 'MERICA

I'm sure he did a lot of consulting to make sure none of this will end up in a courtroom.

I want to play Peruball right now!
Also, I wonder what Moss thinks of rugby, because it sounds like Peruball is no rougher than that sport.

Did you fall down?
Did you scrape your knee?

How is this even a story? He is really reaching to try and create some bad publicity for Harbaugh. Typical though, that a story like this would come out right before the season starts. That seems to be the ideal time for stories like these. This is just a pathetic attempt to claim you have dirt on Harbaugh.

who Jeff Moss is and I'm worse off for it. The guy just makes shit up and says things like :low level staffers were allegedly mortified". But hey he got a lot of people talking about him today so he did accomplish something with the pile of dogshit he put on our collective doorstep and lit it on fire.

I don't support that type of contact without pads at these camps and that shouldn't happen again but football was played without helmets for decades and rugby is currently played all over the world without helmets. It does kind of make me cringe when I see Harbaugh running around with these kids only because if he bumps one and they get hurt he'll get hit with a huge lawsuit.
What are the Nike camps like? I've definitely seen contact drills without pads so does Moss have a problem with that too? Having 2 kids without pads running at each other at full speed and hitting seems like a little much.

I consider myself to be a pretty unique cat, but Jeff Moss has me beat by a long shot.
Dude may have some serious issues.
August 12th, 2015 at 10:36 AM ^
At what point does this become slander?
Also there are so many issues with his article. First of all, this is the first season of Exposure U. It has not been going on for decades. Sure Michigan has had camps in the past, but Exposure U. was different because it invited coaches from all over the country and you know... gave exposure to the kids.
He says that kids used to play a non-padded, throw heavy form of football. And then goes on to say that in Peruball, kids are once again non-padded, but do have helmets, and run around more. I mean... there's more safety mechanisms in this form. He also mentions so many facial injuries, which are quite difficult to have when you have a helmet. Not to mention the "C4 vertebrae injury" which if it would have happened, it would have been in the news long ago. A spine injury is no joke and no one would laugh at that.
Also Chris Rock's character was killed from a bomb explosion. Watch the fucking movie moron.
No, Jeff Moss, you are not a doctor. I don't think you're even qualified to be a journalist. Your article is trash, and you are the dumpster it came out of.

August 12th, 2015 at 10:45 AM ^
Poorly written article with little factual basis.
I would like to point out the following:
1) Referencing Harbaugh being on the Autism spectrum in this article is offensive
2) Peruball or versions of have been around a lot longer than Jim Harbaugh.....I played it almost 40 years ago, it was rough, it was fun and we got bumped up but I never saw a serious injury (BTW - we just called it Murderball)
3) It doesn't take a genius to see that Harbaugh plays the media and that what some of you consider his "bizarre" behaviour and responses to media questioning is often actually him either choosing not to answer your questions and/or him politely flipping you the bird
Move on......nothing to see here

I wonder if searching for a license in clinical psychology in Michigan would be valid? There is a difference between "journalism" and clinical psychology. Speculating about clinical features of would-be patients is getting very close to a HIPPA violation.
August 12th, 2015 at 11:48 AM ^
My analysis of Jeff Moss is that he suffers from journalismsuckitis.
My degree is not in clinical psychology either, so I am as uniquely qualified as he is to make this diagnosis.
August 12th, 2015 at 10:52 AM ^
In argumemtative writing, it is never a good idea to take the approach of "if you agreed with that but don't agree with this, then you are a hypocrite and wrong, therefore I am correct."
That's exactly what Jeff Moss did. He didn't even take the time to try and come up with a reasonable explanation for why these relatively small injuries happened.
Poor writing, to say the least. Yes my bias is showing, but how some people get to write for a living astounds me at times.
Or he's just a Class A troll, in which case well played.
