Really, only Raiola. Who will hopefully not be retained, finally.

Neither are going to be retained. Old and playing poorly. Not good signs.
December 22nd, 2014 at 4:51 PM ^
Im not glad he got suspended...but that was pretty bad on his part and makes the lions look cheap
December 22nd, 2014 at 4:52 PM ^
Not like there's anything important riding on it. Win and they secure a first round bye and possible home field advantadge throughout the playoffs.
Lose and they'll probably be playing at Seattle in the WildCard round.

What's the big deal?
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:21 PM ^
If the lions lose, we'd be playing the cowboys most likely. Seattle will be the #1 seed most likely after arizona's totaly collapse. Win or tie and we get the #2 seed.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:45 PM ^
If we tie, Dallas gets the 2 seed.
This game is a must win for the Lions playoff chances. Lose this game, we'll get beat by either Dallas/Seattle/Arizona (<with healthy Stanton). If i'm not mistaken, Stafford has never won a road game against a team who finished the season with a winning record. So, yeah.

i thought Ansah committed to the hit before Claussen went into his slide, which contributed to the helmet to helmet contact. Im'm not saying it didn't deserve the flag, but i didnt think their was intent to injure. Just a timing foul.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:07 PM ^
Never should lead with the crown, but I think he was trying for a chest shot not a head shot. Did NOT look good though.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:06 PM ^
Ansah went low on Clausen and was diving to tackle him and when Ansah started diving Clausen was not sliding. Because Jimmy slid, his helmet went low enough for Ansah's helmet to hit him. If he stays up, he just get hit in the leg. Because he was hit in the head though, it should be a penalty (which it was), but I'm not sure if it should be more than that.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:01 PM ^
which isn't going to help him with his case. I haven't seen any statement from the NFL yet.
#Bears QB Jimmy Clausen will not play in Sunday's season finale in Minnesota after suffering a concussion in yesterday's loss to Lions.

To be fair that was a football play and both players were moving quickly. He was punished for it by the flag, and will likely get a fine, but a suspension would be ridiculous. He has no history of head hunting and it was likely just a simple mistake.
Raiola on the other hand has a reputation for scummy behavior (ex. diving at legs during a kneel down) and blatantly tried to injure an opposing player after a play. Raiola has no excuse for his behavior.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:07 PM ^
That's the main difference I see in why Ansah may not be suspended but the way the NFL now protects quarterbacks and with the concussion, a suspension would not surprise me.

I hope you're not saying that Suh is a POS. From everything I've seen, he's learned from his earlier on-the-field mistakes and toned it down quite a bit (even before Schwartz left). And reports are that, off the field, he is a great guy.
Raiola, on the other hand, is much older and still hasn't seemed to have matured much. His actions were not only reckless, but extremely selfish - and he's a repeat offender.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:28 PM ^
Suh is on his best contract-year behavior. He's looking for JJ Watt money. I miss him already.

TO be fair to Suh he has changed his ways.Raiola, however, is still the same dick he was ten years ago when he was flipping off Lions fans.
December 22nd, 2014 at 7:42 PM ^
Raiola has been a douche his whole career, didn't start under Jim Schwartz.

Good, that was ridiculous and I hope he feels like the fool he looked like.
Unlikely. Raiola's history is to follow up a douchey act with a defense of "they had it coming and anyway I didn't do anything wrong." The guy is a hotheaded clod and he's always been a hotheaded clod, not to mention a thoroughly ineffective run blocker. The sooner the Lions feel comfortable handing the job over to Travis Swanson, the better.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:26 PM ^
Sims is brutal as well.He has declined a lot.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:12 PM ^
A complete dick move - and when you consider that he'd already admitted to taking cheap shots at a guy's knee in the NE game, the suspension had to be no surprise. Just in time for the biggest game of the year.
Way to go, Raiola. What you lack in self-control, you make up for in shitty timing.

And Raiola's action was certainly a tale told by an idiot.
And skewering the Lions with a Macbeth reference ... you got class, man.

Raiola is an asshole. Why are all of the former Nebraska linemen such assholes? Raiola, Suh, Incognito...etc.
Raiola had better hope that if he ever plays again in the NFL that he is not retailiated against.
December 22nd, 2014 at 5:47 PM ^
He was drafted to eventually replace Raiola. I'm hoping this turns out to be a blessing in disguise and we can actually run up the middle. Make it obvious to everyone that Dom is the problem with our running game, screen game, everything.

and hasn't been playing great, but part of the center's game is to be the main guy on O-line calls, and he does that very well. doesn't show up much on stat sheets, but we will miss that level of competence sunday, and next year when he's gone.
December 22nd, 2014 at 6:34 PM ^
Swanson is an intelligent kid who they got in the 3rd last year. I think that they'll be fine at the position. Raiola is an asshole who isn't good at his job now.
