Why is this a post? If I cared about everything Dantonio says I'd be a Spartan. No one cares, stop posting. |

Except you don't need to be an athlete to play baseball. Thank you Prince Fielder |
| 5 weeks 6 days ago | Um, that's a pretty naive |
Um, that's a pretty naive statement. Most of my college friends who are in the upper income bracket put away 30-40% of our earnings. It's part of tax relief, asset protection, and simply the best way to maximize wealth generation. Do I live a nice life? Absolutely, but I realize that I'm a hedge trimmer accident away from losing my job. Maturity leads to better decision making and a sense of the future. When pro athletes learn that your financial advisor is more important than your sports agent, maybe programs like "broke" will cease to exist. |
| 6 weeks 3 hours ago | I think it's fairly obvious |
I think it's fairly obvious that future security is not a certainty. Also, if Duncan comes out early, sits on the bench because of lack of development, and gets dropped 2 years in... Where are the millions then. At least hockey and baseball have minor leagues for player development. The expansion of the league which occurred in the late 90's and early 2000's made it possible to absorb a lot of young, unpolished talent. However now less of these players will make an immediate impact. Refinement, development, and experience with an additional year or two in college seems a more logical course than an early jump for quick cash. The payoff comes at free agency in year 3 or 4. The Mathlete question comes to whether players who stayed in college to their junior or senior years (when protected high as freshman or sophomores) had longer or more successful careers than equivalent counterparts who jumped early. |

Very nicely stated. I spent my entire life getting to my current job. But, it's still just a job. If the players were capped at 100k a year, would they still jump to the NBA after 1 or 2 years? Probably not. There are many things in life worth more than money, and your years in college are a great example. |

| 6 weeks 1 day ago | Certainly it was a costly |
Certainly it was a costly mistake. And kudos to Beilein for admitting it. We lost due to poor second half rebounding. It simply took away the possibility of extending the game. The likelihood of winning would have been low, but I wouldn't hold it against him. |
| 6 weeks 1 day ago | This game was decided by |
This game was decided by second chance points in the second half. You have to play above the refs and although there were bad calls against Michigan there also were some bad calls against Louisville. The bottom line is that we did not keep Behanon off the glass in the second half and that killed us. Offense scored the same number of points in the first half as the second half. McGarry's foul trouble was something we couldn't get past in the second half which led to poor rebounding and the game is over. However just because we didn't win the game does not mean these guys arent winners. Fantastic run and a fantastic team. The only question is whether the pain of losing in the finals is enough for Trey to tell his teammates he still wants to be a Michigan man one more year |

It's a big deal because the score was 58-56 Michigan and they would have gotten 2 shots and Triche is a 74% FT shooter. And as a Michigan fan, always remember that you WANT to be the underdog. |
| 6 weeks 2 days ago | Totally agree. The players |
Totally agree. The players determine the outcome, not the refs. Every player knows that if you barrel into a defender and he's squared up, there's a chance you'll get called for a charge. Even in the postgame, the Syracuse player stated that he probably should have pulled up for a jumper and not driven because of the possibility of a charge. Blaming the refs for a loss ignores the previous 39 minutes of the game. There are several points in every game which help determine the outcome. |
| 6 weeks 2 days ago | And of course Gottlieb... |
Gottlieb made some asanine comment about how the refs "gave Michigan" the game because of that call. Maybe that's the argument he made when he was caught stealing his roommates credit card and dropping $900 bucks on it... not to mention all the central American call-ins to Bill King touting the "conspiracy" of the refs to prevent a Big East championship game. |
