Frank Clark Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge
No details yet as this apparently just happened but the Erie County jail's website has a log of all arrests and Frank Clark is on there:
If you are for some reason dubious that this guy who looks just like Frank Clark is Frank Clark, his DOB matches that on Frank Clark's MGoBlue bio.

Truly hope everyone involved is safe first and foremost.
Clark was actually playing himself into a spot in the draft the last few weeks. Given the current status with the NFL this may also be something that immediately puts the brakes on any possible future there as well. I would think not many teams are going to think twice about anyone with even an hint of domestic violence challenges in their background given all of the stories out with Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, etc. and using a draft selection on someone that brings that baggage along.
Still need to get all of the facts, but this sure does not sound good.

The NFL does not care about anything other than PR and this is a blip. Clark will be drafted.

Actually we did play Gibbons...for three years and 11 games after the arrest.
November 16th, 2014 at 10:47 AM ^
When Brandon & Hoke came on board there were no charges against Gibbon's and no sexual misconduct investigation.
It was only later, after the sexual misconduct policy was revised, that a misconduct investigation was conducted. And based on the leaked information, once that investigation resulted in findings against Gibbon's, he no longer played.

handed down.
Although an incapability of timely communication does seem a lot more plausible reason after this year.

well if he is innocent why would you want him suspended or kicked off the team? If you are undertain of his innocences and gulity wouldn't you want that resolved until punishment is doled out? I think they call that due process.
I am in no way defending him and i am like everyone else, where there is smoke i start looking for fire. But there is a larger principle here, and i would love for us to give due process more than just lip service.

It's tough and messy, but when the charges get this serious, probably best to suspend pending but keep them on scholarship. Should they have waited for due process to boot York?
November 16th, 2014 at 3:26 PM ^
It was a fact that York sucker punched a guy.
Usually, a coach is best served by waiting for the verdict as a good (or least-bad) judgment of disputed facts before kicking someone off the team.
Coaches aren't limited to legal convictions as the only events worthy of kicking someone off the team.
A suspension seems the more appropriate way to go, even though it would effectively end Clark's UM career. At least Hoke would be acknowledging that there is still some uncertainty in the situation.

Ugh. Domestic Violence is so terrible. Hope this isn't true but assuming the worst.

I think sometimes it can be. I don't know the circumstances of this individual alleged crime, of course. But....
Being hurt by some random asshole will cause physical damage. Being hurt by someone you trust, someone you love.... those wounds cut deeper.

Some things are worse than death, otherwise suicide would not be a thing.

So, what do you do if you're the coach? No determination on his guilt or innocence will be made until well after the football season is over. Clark is a senior. Do you hold him out the last two games of his senior season when he hasn't been found guilty of anything or do you hold him out? Either path has a downside and an upside.
I wouldn't want to be on the coaching staff right now anyway, but I really wouldn't want to have to make this decision.

Smart thing to do is suspend him until more info comes out.
November 16th, 2014 at 5:55 AM ^
By the time he is fully aware of this...the season will be over.

But until you find out, you have to suspend him lest you risk having a woman beater actively playing on your team.

I'm not using it to suggest the opposite. I'm using it to suggest that when he says Michigan doesn't recruit from "the hood," he's wrong.
