A coworker of mine has reported the same

I live in the South and it is a common belief that visiting the LA area makes you change your proclivity toward the opposite sex. That explains it.
December 31st, 2023 at 10:03 PM ^
Down south it’s preferred to be kept in the family.
December 31st, 2023 at 10:51 PM ^
It's interesting that a Mississippi fan is holding that sign as if Mississippi has forked family trees.
December 31st, 2023 at 10:58 PM ^
Mississippi Family Tree (also works for Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, W. Virginia etc...)

I'm only here for MgoHillbilly's commentary on this.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:19 AM ^
Sorry, fight broke out over here because my brother and I both went for my sister at the same time at midnight. Kind of a first dibs thing over here on New Year's.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:54 AM ^
Lol. Fuckin hell, man.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:40 PM ^
I saw quite a few around Hollywood and Beverly Hills today. I'd guess it's a 60-40 us.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:42 PM ^
Most likely homeless people that got free Tide gear.
December 31st, 2023 at 10:52 PM ^
Their shirts all say “Alabama Rose Bowl Champs” and they didn’t want to ship them overseas.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:54 PM ^
It’s been more like 70-30 in Santa Monica.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:41 PM ^
My hotel is about 7:1 UM fans
December 31st, 2023 at 9:20 PM ^
So, clearly you aren’t at the Motel 6.
December 31st, 2023 at 11:17 PM ^
Unrepresentative sample. Bama fans are sleeping in their pickups
January 1st, 2024 at 12:13 AM ^
Or in their RVs at Weekend Paradise Kampsite.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:20 AM ^
This is the way.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:41 PM ^
Double post. My bad.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:43 PM ^
My guess is 65/35 split in the Rose Bowl. Michigan basketball fans owned Staples Center for sweet 16 / elite 8 in 2018. We love LA (except when we play USC, then our turnout is garbage).
December 31st, 2023 at 8:44 PM ^
Seeing the same thing. I would say 80/20.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:45 PM ^
Idk, the ones I have seen are quite large, especially around the belly
December 31st, 2023 at 8:48 PM ^
I live in the Hollywood Hills. Lots of Michigan fans. Not many Alabama fans.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:50 PM ^
Bama fans are probably like Atlanta Braves fans in the 90's when they wouldn't sell out in the early playoffs because they were going almost every year.
They are prob holding out for the National Championship, within reasonable driving distance, vs flying out to the Rose Bowl.
Let's not give them a chance to go.
December 31st, 2023 at 10:14 PM ^
Same thought. Must be nice to think you are going to the NC game every other year for 15 years.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:50 PM ^
Had tons of Go Blue comments as I flew west, and many more out here in SoCal.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:54 PM ^
100% one of the best parts of traveling to see Michigan somewhere.
Got to do it in Minneapolis this year. Not as big but it’s still awesome. Never gets old.
Hope you all can do it next week too.
December 31st, 2023 at 11:56 PM ^
Agree 100%. We're not even going to the game tomorrow but it's just been a blast saying Go Blue to so many people everywhere we've been the last 36 hours
December 31st, 2023 at 9:20 PM ^
We’re in NOLA this weekend and have seen about 10 people in Michigan gear in the sea of purple and burnt Orange.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:52 PM ^
Probably not surprising. Bama fans are spoiled by this stuff. Any Rose Bowl is great for Michigan, but this Rose Bowl with these stakes with this team?
Have fun out there folks.
Go Blue.

Alabama has a ton of fans, but they are by and large heavily concentrated in the Southeast. Flying cross country for a game is much more difficult than making an easy day’s drive down to New Orleans, where they would likely outnumber Michigan fans by a small but noticeable margin.
Meanwhile, Michigan has fans everywhere, hordes of fans on the West Coast, and they’re in their first Rose Bowl in 15 years.
Alabama fans may also have, on a small, relatively scale, title fatigue when it comes to traveling. It’s kind of one of those “I’ve already traveled to see them win 2-3 titles in the last few years. They’re going to win more as long as Saban is there so I don’t need to fly all the way out to California to watch them play.”
Michigan has been chomping at the bit for this opportunity for 30 years.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:20 AM ^
Yup. I've lived in California for 16 years and I don't think I've ever met a single Alabama fan or alum. Michigan fans and alumni, on the other hand, are everywhere.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:54 PM ^
Our hotel, in Pasadena, is 70/30 Michigan fans.
December 31st, 2023 at 8:56 PM ^
They're resting up. Believe me. They'll be there

I swung by the red roof inn near the airport and it's teaming with Bama fans. Your mistake is looking for them in places that don't require a sheet deposit
December 31st, 2023 at 9:00 PM ^
It's 80-20 Michigan around Old Pasadena from what I've seen this afternoon, though I found a restaurant where nobody is wearing team gear.
January 1st, 2024 at 3:57 AM ^
Must be a ucla restaurant
December 31st, 2023 at 9:13 PM ^
I’m in LA as well. Feels like a Michigan crowd thus far.
December 31st, 2023 at 9:19 PM ^
It just means more
December 31st, 2023 at 9:21 PM ^
Bama fans probably bought tickets for next week, and will watch tomorrow on TV
January 1st, 2024 at 8:06 AM ^
Pretty much. Our Bama office fans have already made accommodations in Houston. Arrgonce at its finest
December 31st, 2023 at 9:33 PM ^
Most of the Bama fans are not thin in any setting …
UM gear appears to outnumber UA roughly 2:1 or 3:1 the last 2 days in Santa Monica and Pasadena.
Go Blue.
December 31st, 2023 at 9:33 PM ^
Spent the last two days in San Diego. Hiked around Torrey Pines Friday, Coronado yesterday, wearing all the shwag, getting all the Go Blues. Saw two Alabamas, to maybe twenty UMs. I have to guess the stadium’s going to be 75% good guys. Smirked at a poor kid wear AN OSU hat Friday afternoon, before their humiliation. Met a family leaving dinner in Del Mar Friday night from Santa Cruz whose kid was back on break from Tuscaloosa for the game. Why would you leave California to go to Alabama?
December 31st, 2023 at 9:34 PM ^
Alabama people really don't like to leave the south.
December 31st, 2023 at 9:36 PM ^
Me and another alumn are driving in from Antelope Valley tomorrow. I gotta think the Michigan grad locals greatly out number the Bama fans too.
61 and Sunny tomorrow, great day for a win!
January 1st, 2024 at 10:50 AM ^
Me is watching at home.
December 31st, 2023 at 9:44 PM ^
Bama fans are too intimidated by LA to go there.
January 1st, 2024 at 8:46 AM ^
I didn’t want to say anything like this as it may carry some political undertones, but I think there are also a lot of Bama fans who would otherwise go to this game but won’t because of, let’s call it, “personal reservations” about the state of California.
December 31st, 2023 at 9:47 PM ^
Loved the ratio at the Fan Fest. We should have a decent advantage in the stands. Let's go boys. GO BLUE!!
