It's lame how the Ann Arbor local government wants to crack down on the parties. They are always picking on something, whether its Fraternities or house parties. The only thing Ann Arbor, and the state of Michigan for that matter, has going for it is UM. They should be begging students to spend money, not making their lives miserable. Which reminds me, I went to the ND game and the gate guy and cop behind him were INCREDIBLY rude to my girlfriend, who tried to get in with a purse that was no more than a quarter-inch bigger than the limit. It's one thing to nicely say that the bag is too big, it's another to give people huge attitude... They weren't even nice enough to mention that there is a BAG CHECK in Crisler! They also wouldn't let me back out of the stadium to help my girl deal with the situation. She didn't go to UM and luckily figured out the bag check (I had no idea)... I couldn't believe the attitude these guys were pulling on a Michigan alum - the only group of people who were spending money in their city. Those two dolts had no skills are lucky to be employed! Anyway, Ann Arbor may get what it deserves if it keeps hassling the golden goose...
2 years 36 weeks ago	Agreed	I posted about this somewhere, but the music was surprisingly awesome. However, I think Seven Nation Army is awesome 10 times a game... it definitely get's the crowd into it. We just need to make it our own as PSU used it last year...
2 years 36 weeks ago	Seven Nation Army	I have been informed that the song to which I was referring is Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes. Unfortunately it was used by Penn State last year. Not long, but do we really want to be the 2nd team to use it? Maybe the winner of the Oct 24th showdown gets to use the song exclusively...
2 years 36 weeks ago	Electronic Noise	There was a post about this after last game, but I wanted to throw my opinion out there: I LIKE the piped-in music/ noise. Going into the game, I figured I would hate the amplified noise. It's "fake" after all - not something that melds with the tradition of Michigan Football. I was even thinking about writing to Bill Martin about the changes, and to voice a recent graduate's opposition to the degradation of the sacred stadium aura. Maybe it was because there are so many other changes with the program - luxury boxes & brick, coaches, offensive and defensive styles, player types, etc, but the amplified sound seemed to fit right in. Indeed, the sounds enhanced my game watching experience. The noise came on loud, but not horribly loud, and got the crowd a little more into the game. That said, in my 7 years of Michigan fandom, I have never heard the crowd more into the game. Never was the stadium so loud - I think the luxury boxes may help as well. I think there may even be a new repeating chant/ cheer with one of the songs. I don't know the name of it, but people were singing not the lyrics (if there are any at all) but the beat itself. If anyone knows what I am talking about, feel free to elaborate. I could see it becoming an ominous sounding vocalization of Michigan fans for years to come. If people haven't been to the stadium yet, refrain from forming an opinion on the new sounds until after a game. -JW
