Early weather reports for The Game
Extended forecasts - which have historical accuracy ~80% - are showing temperatures in the mid 30’s, with a 25% chance of precipitation and a 100% chance of Michigan domination. What is your personal preference for weather? Another snowy game like ‘21? Beautiful weather similar to Columbus last year? A rare rainy affair between the two teams? Do you think either team has an inherent advantage one way or another with any type of weather? Feel free to neg away if this is taking up precious board space, but whatever you do, fergodsakes leave the charcoal at home!

It barely snowed in '21.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:12 PM ^
That's funny. I remember it starting out with flurries and ending in a blizzard...of Michigan points, that is.
November 16th, 2023 at 1:01 PM ^
The drive back from the game was brutal and it was glorious!
November 16th, 2023 at 1:15 PM ^
Well that didn't work. My screenshot of your 42 upvotes at the time.

Apparently it only takes a few snowflakes to kneecap OSU in the Big House.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:28 PM ^
They have enough snowflakes in their fan base already.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:14 PM ^
It was enough to coat the field. Not as much as Indiana in ‘16, but still, the bomb to CJ left streaks on the field for a while.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:29 PM ^
And I'm pretty sure another CJ left some streaks of a different type on the field that day.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:14 PM ^
True, but what's so very memorable is the heavy snow over the next hour or two after The Game. The snow added to the festive post-game atmosphere.
We tailgated on AAGO a full 2+ hours and were one of the last to leave.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:20 PM ^
Yeah it was flurries in the morning and during the first half. Then steadier snow in the 2nd half and a lot of snow after the game. I remember knocking about 2 inches of snow off our tailgate tents during tear down 2 hours after the game. And driving on I-94 to St Joseph the only reason I knew I was on the road was because of the cat eyes and rumble strips. Ended up taking 4 hours to drive the normal 2 hour trip home.
November 16th, 2023 at 2:44 PM ^
It was more than flurries in the first half. CJ’s near TD was during accumulation. Minimal, but it was there.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:22 PM ^
it wasn't too bad during the game, but the drive home to west michigan was hell.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:37 PM ^
I remember saying on the drive home “sheesh, I’m glad we won because this drive would have suuucked if we lost”
November 16th, 2023 at 12:35 PM ^
During the game you are correct. After the game was another story. What normally takes 2 hours driving took us four and a half hours. Of course I didn't care because I was three sheets to the wind and the sober wife had to drive the first 3 hours to reach Toledo. From there it was a breeze to Fort Wayne for my part. Happiest of drives EVER!
November 16th, 2023 at 12:39 PM ^
I seem to recall some light snow...let me see if I can dig up a picture to confirm....
Ah yes, that's right. Light snow.
November 16th, 2023 at 1:00 PM ^
That was a blizzard and Stroud had only 394 yards because of the near white out conditions.
November 16th, 2023 at 1:04 PM ^
There were periods of snow a few hours before and during the first half. The second half started with a few flurries then the steady snow picked up during the 4th quarter.
The playing field has spotty snow on it as the game began and it had melted by half time. The field was getting snow covered later in the 4th quarter.
If that's what you call barely snowed, then it was not a blizzard.
November 16th, 2023 at 1:20 PM ^
Yes, that's what I call barely snowed. The snow had no bearing on the outcome of the game.
November 16th, 2023 at 1:21 PM ^
Perhaps not but if there is one enduring image that's the first that pops into my brain when I think o this game it's the deep ball to Cornelius Johnson, who laid out and slid about 700 feet (give or take) through the snow-kissed grass. A beautiful play.
November 16th, 2023 at 3:22 PM ^
It was very wet...snow did not stick.
However, the snow work havoc on the drive home!
November 16th, 2023 at 6:58 PM ^
FUCK OHIO
November 16th, 2023 at 12:12 PM ^
I'm giving the same weather forecast prediction as last year: Rain of hellfire and bloody damnation.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:12 PM ^
Beautiful weather similar to Columbus last year is preferred but it is what it is.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:14 PM ^
OSU is fake tough this year..trying more defense and inside running than they did years before but you are about to face the real...weather won't matter...it's the real vs the fake
November 16th, 2023 at 3:08 PM ^
I don’t think they are quite real-tough but they have been in some battles this year. I don’t think they will fall over quite so easily this year.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:16 PM ^
Anything but rain.
November 16th, 2023 at 1:01 PM ^
I think rain might be to our advantage. We can run it better and JJ also has wheels.
McCord isn't a great runner and OSU's passing game is what worries me more.
November 16th, 2023 at 2:47 PM ^
So we need strong winds throughout. That has the most deleterious effect on passing.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:18 PM ^
In '21 it didn't snow all that much during the game. Afterward, yes, absolutely, but the game itself was relatively clear (though flakes started coming down during the on-the-field celebration).
I am fine with pretty much any weather except the rain. A cold rain is absolutely miserable. An otherwise forgettable 2008 Northwestern @ Michigan game is engrained into my memory because it kept switching between rain and snow. It was awful.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:21 PM ^
Otherwise forgettable?!?!? They give patches away around here for that game. Only if you stayed until the end though.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:18 PM ^
The only snowflakes we need are the 11 we'll play against on every snap.
Oh and the most unique of all of them - Cyan Day.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:18 PM ^
Intention to create an unfair weather environment. Game must be moved to Ford Field.

November 16th, 2023 at 12:21 PM ^
Blizzard. 68 straight running plays by us in a real ‘whiteout’ game with those ohio players glued to the bench, heads down, freezing, as we score again and again.
November 16th, 2023 at 1:20 PM ^
exactly. absolutely recreate that day from 2 yrs ago with 5X the snow.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:22 PM ^
How about the same weather that happened against Purdue in 1995? That would definitely stop any OSU air attack.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:23 PM ^
I believe checking a weather forecast two weeks before a game constitutes unfair advanced technological surveillance of a future opponent. Tony Pettiti will say that is...
November 16th, 2023 at 12:42 PM ^
Game is likely to be cancelled as I understand rain and snow can be dangerous to player safety
November 16th, 2023 at 2:14 PM ^
Nah it’s fine as long as Michigan didn’t actually send someone outside to see what it was like.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:23 PM ^
Sunny, clear, and 60mph winds so they can't throw deep. Keep it to runs, short passes, and QB runs, and I don't think we can lose
November 16th, 2023 at 12:24 PM ^
Bad weather is better for Michigan.
Our DL can eat up their OL and make passing even more difficult.
Bad weather makes playing on the road even more challenging.
Also, crowd needs to be loud; I think this was a big factor in putting the passing game in the barn at PSU.
Bad weather + at home + loud crowd = (unfair) advantage Michigan.
As with 2021, I will be dressed in full ski gear from head to toe...to be prepared to stay the whole game regardless of the weather.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:37 PM ^
I want PSU 1st QTR level loud, this game is a statement and UM fans need to make one
November 16th, 2023 at 12:24 PM ^
Warm weather sun and no excuses.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:26 PM ^
Careful. OSU will claim that the advance knowledge of the weather will unduly advantage Michigan, and that we are endangering their players by knowing that it will be cold that day.
The Commissioner will call this “the worst scandal in college football history” and suspend Harbaugh 8,512 games.
November 16th, 2023 at 1:22 PM ^
And don't give me any of that "everyone does it" BS! I want proof that OSU is both capable of checking the weather beforehand AND doing so.
November 16th, 2023 at 2:37 PM ^
Heavy snow - so they cannot see across field to steal our signs.
November 16th, 2023 at 12:26 PM ^
personal preference for weather?
Cold, slight snow. I want the buckeyes to come out of the tunnel in front of 100,000 enraged fans and have one thought: "oh no... here we go again."
November 16th, 2023 at 12:26 PM ^
I'm taking my 7yo to the game for his first UM-OSU experience. My wife is nervous about it being cold/uncomfortable but I just keep saying "it's late fall football weather! It's perfect!" We'll see. Our son's been informed that we're not leaving early under any circumstance :)
November 16th, 2023 at 1:02 PM ^
What if he pisses his pants because Michigan is laughing so hard by halftime?
November 16th, 2023 at 1:55 PM ^
He's only been watching games with me since 2021 and went to his first game in person earlier this year, so all he knows is us winning. His level of confidence in the win is at level 100 right now, as it should be.
As an aside, he met JJ McCarthy and Jim Harbaugh last year so he is HOOKED now and tells everyone he wants to go to UM when he's older. As parents, kind of fun for my wife (also a UM grad) and I to see the exact moment the light goes on in a kid...
