| 1 day 12 hours ago | I haven't followed Andrew |
I haven't followed Andrew Luck or Standford all that closely, so feel free to tell me if I'm making some incorrect assumptions... ...but isn't Andrew Luck a really good quarterback? Doesn't having him make an offensive coordinator's job substantially easier, because he can just ask his really good quarterback to do what he's naturally good at doing? Doesn't that, in effect, mean that having a really good quarterback naturally inflates the results obtained by an offensive coordinator, thus obscuring the ability to tell how good the coordinator actually is? He's not personally responsible for the development of the quarterback (unless he's also the quarterbacks coach). He's just the lucky (no pun intended!) guy that happens to have this great weapon in his arsenal. So why name a coordinator position for a really skilled player? |

Ah, the rare mid-offseason schadenfreude... Something to tide us over until the season starts and teams actually start losing again. |
| 2 weeks 12 hours ago | well hell, since this thread |
well hell, since this thread is still on the front page and Oakland is playing right now should we do a liveblog? Inge goes down swinging on first at-bat. BA drops to .143 and OBP drops to .204. On the plus side he was leading off the bottom of the second, so he didn't strand anyone. |
| 2 weeks 18 hours ago | Inge was a good-to-great |
Inge was a good-to-great fielder and an okay hitter for most of his career. Within the last year or two, though, his fielding has declined to "average" and his hitting has declined to "abysmal". I think most of the hate directed toward him was not directed to the man but instead directed to the inexplicable fact that he was still there. He was terrible last year. He was terrible in spring training. And yet somehow there he is on the field, committing throwing errors and racking up strikeouts. It just didn't make sense. If you look at the Red Wings you see a number of former stars and fan favorites like Osgood, Draper, and Maltby who were given reduced roles as their skills declined and eventually told they just weren't good enough to be a Red Wing anymore. That has to be done if you want to field a championship contending team, no matter how much you like what they did over the past 10 years. As for Brandon Inge the Oakland Athletic, yeah, one of his big swings finally made actual contact with the ball. He was 0 for 4 with 6 men left on base in the game up to that point. His average is still .146. He hasn't managed a multi-hit game this year... in fact, he's got 2 strikeouts for every one hit. One hard swing (at a hittable pitch for once instead of one that's headed for the dirt in front of home plate) does not make for a turnaround, no matter how you spin it. |

check out Eastern Michigan on that College Football Attendance chart. They pimp out tickets every other year because the NCAA checks for compliance with FBS requirements for minimum attendance every other year. Sawblade! |

The accident occured when Gholston got ahold of the steering wheel and wrenched it really hard for no apparent reason whatsoever. |

Interesting article but it's comparing apples to oranges: "PERCENTAGE of OHL players to make it to NHL" vs. "TOTAL CCHA Players to make it to NHL". Makes valid comparisons impossible. |

Jordan Kovacs, after winning the first ever UltraHeisman award (which the Heisman Trust will be forced to create after the standard Heisman trophy is destroyed... by Jordan Kovacs). |

yeaaaah except now he's going to be shitting on his keyboard and sending it to sports illustrated instead of the free press. Not really better if you enjoy SI. |
