I was watching a replay this morning and noticed his block. But also wished he simply turned around and got in Westover’s (37) way. Sainristil would have scored and the stadium would have exploded. Westover busted his ass to get back and make that tackle. Washington was an easy team to like before our game. I salute their efforts.

Along those lines, part of the reason Mikey got tackled was because he was trying to cut around Penix.  If he drives into Penix, he possibly scores because I'm not sure the guy had much fight left in him at that point.  Either way it underscores who the big dog was for that game.

Something I like to think about anyway when I see that play (many times).

Westover initially gets blocked by Barrett right after the interception.  It was quite a play on his part to get all the way down the field after that block.  The angle of pursuit worked out perfectly for him.  Great hustle on his part.  It was a bummer that Mikey didn't get the pick six after all that work!

Both Harrell and McGregor failed to block 37 running past them.

Also, Sainristil definitely did not have to cut back - had he kept running he would've easily been able to get around the Washington OL who was also being blocked by Sabb.

Really was an easy TD if any one of those 3 things happened. Good thing is that it got Blake another 1-yard TD - which is fitting since that's been our staple all year long!

May the glory of this season last 10 lifetimes, and shall they remember the names  Sainristil, McCarthy, Corum, Keegan, Zinter, Johnson, Graham, Jenkins, Moore, Edwards and all of Team 144 long after they bury me in this earth.

Interesting thing about "for the win", whenever that occured: ESPN's win tracker gave us a 75% chance before kickoff, and we never went below that at any point in the game.  Did you feel like we had a 75% chance to win in the third quarter when we only managed a 12-yard field goal drive off of Will Johnson's interception and then punted 3 straight times?  I know I didn't.

We had a 89.5% chance to win the game at the start of the drive that would see us go up 27-13 and a 98.6% chance by the end of it.  That's when I started to relax... I figured by that point we needed about 6 really bad things to happen in a row to lose the game.  Penix hitting Odunze for 44 yards was 1 out of 6... they did not get another.

Mikey's INT return yards would make him one of the top receivers on the team. Just a notch below Barner/Edwards and more than Morgan. What an absolute beast.

I had to do some quick research but no deep dive.

Interception Return Yards is a stat that has only been kept since 1976.

Mikey had 1 INT in 2022 and 6 in 2023.  7 total in his 2yr defensive career.  He is the highest Michigan player on this IRY stat list at #182 with 240 yards.  However, the average for him is 34yds/IR.  I would bet that would land him in the top 10 in that stat.

Terrell Buckley - #1 in IRY at 501yds (21 INT over 3yrs) has a 24yd avg.

Eric Berry - #2 in IRY at 494yds (14 INT over 3yrs) has a 35yd avg.

Can't see how Mikey wouldn't be way up on that list for IRY avg.

I don’t know why, but I could not stop laughing at the sound of that recorder!  I imagined a young kid trying her heart out to play along with the song.  So many missed notes to match so many missed Ohio opportunities!

Man, I hate that song.  I love Mikey, but I hate that song.  It's nearly unforgivable to put anything Mikey does on the football field with that song.

If that stupid, awful song is playing somewhere within her hearing when Mikey's little baby girl utters her first word(s), it will be, "Nope" or "Dad, WTF?!"

I also thought it must have been an act of shear respect and decency that Mikey didn't smash Penix himself on the return, from which Penix (warrior that he truly is) might not have arisen.

So much to say about this.  To be really honest, the pass to Loveland on the previous drive was probably the "big play," because it led to Corum's TD that put us up by two scores with about 5 minutes left.  But a lot can happen in 5 minutes!  (See: Rose Bowl, 4th Qtr, 1/1/24.)  So this was the dagger that sealed the win.  And, no, you don't take a knee when you are running as free from traffic as Mike was.  House it if you can (and he almost did).

And, yes, I can watch this one on an infinite loop.
