Salt Collection Thread

Submitted by Brhino on January 9th, 2024 at 11:42 AM

Folks this ice/snow/rain that's coming down right now throughout Southeast Michigan is looking dangerous.  This thread is for stockpiling all the salt being generated by the internet so that everyone that needs some for their driveway or sidewalk can collect.  Bring your own shovel.

Whatever, Georgia totally would have beat Michigan

That's right.  It's no longer about the results on the field.  We have reached the point where we can declare a team to be #1, and continue to consider them #1 no matter what!  Even if they lost!  Even if the team they lost to lost to Michigan!  Even if the team they lost to lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to Michigan!  Did I lose you there?  Work it out on your own!

Michigan cheated.  I know they fired Connor Stalions long before the meat of Michigan's schedule, but the damage was already done.

I love this one.  It supposes that, not only did Stalions' nefarious deeds given Michigan a decided schematic advantage (term copyrighted, I now owe Charlie Weiss 50 cents), but every single one of Michigan's opponents, each with multi-million dollar coaching staffs and legions of analysts and support personnel, declined to take any steps to mitigate the advantage, even though several of them had months to prepare to do so.

Michigan's lucky - Washington just happened to play their worst offensive game of the season.

Yes, they just happened to.  It had nothing to do with the fact that Michigan fielded a band of bezerkering d-lineman and skillful backs deploying a top-of-the-NFL level scheme that bewildered every single quarterback that went against it (to be fair, "bewildered" is the default state of being for like 80% of Big Ten quarterbacks).  Washington just played bad, so unlucky.

Michigan got away with all kinds of penalties.  Clearly they officials wanted them to win.

I saved my favorite for last.  The University of Michigan football team, the villains of 2023-24, the biggest cheaters in the history of the sport, the no-goodniks who shouldn't have even been allowed into the postseason, led by a man who is basically The Grinch in khakis, were the team that the NCAA decided they wanted to win the National Championship. Even though the NCAA is totally going to vacate it... annnny day now.  Just wait.  You'll see.

Did I miss any?

Michigan had 7 NFL defensive backs out there last night. This is not hyperbole.

Will Johnson will get drafted in 2025

The other 6 are going to either be drafted or be on a roster in 2024. They will be hitting NFL camps in 4-5 months. The only starting DB not going to an NFL is Will Johnson and he's the best one.

Pennix had to play an NFL defense last night against an NFL head coach and NFL coordinator.

I believe there was a reply on a 11w thread this morning that advocated for any ohio state fan living in or very near Michigan to smash the windows and slash the tires of any car with anything Michigan Wolverines on it. ohio state fans have gone full little brother. Maybe that will intensify the new rivalry between them and msu. We can call their annual game the "Diaper bowl".

I actually think Ohio State may have really been the #2 team in the country.  Most balanced and talented team we played during the 15-0 run.

That's what really irks the Bucks fans the most - fuck them...

The officials thing is crazy. It’s the go-to obviously but not this game. They let them play and called the stuff they should call. Both sides. If you don’t give UM credit at this point you are delusional. Or an asshole. Maybe both.

eh there's not much to be gained by spending time with other fans. They have mostly gone off the deep end. I mean really, even "reasonable" people still talking about vacating and cheating in a pretty uninformed way. It's all dumb and not worth spending time on.

Well, Georgia has a quality loss. Michigan has zero quality losses. Georgia clearly is better.

To be fair to Georgia, at their best they are a wrecking ball unlike anything we've seen since Miley Cyrus. I think that you can definitely call them one of the best 4 teams in the country. The problem is that 1) they didn't play their best vs. Alabama, and 2) you can say "at their best they're a wrecking ball" about damn near ANY team. Including and especially Michigan.

Both Michigan and Washington got away with a LOT of holding. For every screenshot of a Michigan OL with a fistful of jersey, there's one of a Washington player also latching onto DL. Just like an umpire who lets both pitchers work the outside corner, you can't get mad at even enforcement or non-enforcement of the rules.

I was screaming about missed holding calls all day, including on the play immediately before the one that did get called on the long pass (which I felt McGregor sold a bit).  And, yes, I acknowledge that Michigan got away with a couple as well, although generally UW's defense wasn't good enough to require OL holding to the extent that Michigan's was.

Minter's scheme was to apply pressure with four - and rely on the back end to "do their thing" and make it very difficult for Washington / Penix.

A question comes to mind - how did Washington's Joe Moore Award winning OL compare with those Michigan has had?

The officials seemed pretty balanced.   What conference were they from?

ACC officials.  Seemed to do a pretty good job.  My one gripe was that the ends of Washington's line were frequently taking the first backward step into pass protection before the ball was snapped.  I learned to start watching for that after listening to people bitching about NFL tackles doing it against Aiden Hutchinson, and I saw several examples of it last night.

Reddit is repeatedly telling me the NCAA will asterisk this title or erase it from history. Well you know what. They can take this title from my cold dead hands.
