I'm happy for him, he certainly earned it.
February 13th, 2022 at 11:28 PM ^
Earning it would have been winning one in Detroit. The rams are like the super teams that you see in the nba. Stafford played well this season but there are a lot of qb’s in the NFL that could have won the super bowl with that stacked team.
February 14th, 2022 at 12:06 AM ^
ywesh ywesh of course
February 14th, 2022 at 12:24 AM ^
Stafford went through hell for 12 years in Detroit and never said boo. He was never going to win here ever. The organization is utter trash. He earned it by sticking it out and getting his ass beat for 12 years. I’m glad he didn’t end up like Barry and Kelvin.
February 14th, 2022 at 12:51 AM ^
Kelvin ?
February 14th, 2022 at 2:24 AM ^
That's cold, dude
February 14th, 2022 at 5:59 AM ^
That's funny, dude.
February 14th, 2022 at 11:28 AM ^
He’s not your dude, bro . . .
February 14th, 2022 at 7:44 AM ^
there were absolutely zero reasons to make that joke.
February 14th, 2022 at 7:55 AM ^
I can think of one
February 14th, 2022 at 8:26 AM ^
there were absolutely zero reasons for me to laugh but I did
February 14th, 2022 at 7:55 AM ^
Do you even follow the NFL? Or just the Lions?
The Rams were 9-1 to win the Super Bowl when the playoffs started and about the same preseason. If they didn't make the trade for Stafford, they would have been much more of a long shot.
February 14th, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
Stacked team? No run game,
woods out
obj out
higbee out
o line suspect
good d line and Ramsey.
February 14th, 2022 at 10:32 AM ^
Ramsey got torched last night.
February 14th, 2022 at 12:50 PM ^
Eh not really, you can't blame a guy for the officials missing the most obvious offensive PI you are ever going to see. Besides that he gave up 2 completions of note.
February 14th, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
yeah super team with leading receiver Connor Krupp...
February 14th, 2022 at 9:15 AM ^
Who the hell is Connor Krupp?
February 14th, 2022 at 9:25 AM ^
I think he was an officer in West Side Story
February 14th, 2022 at 9:34 AM ^
*Kupp. Why autocorrect why??
February 14th, 2022 at 10:55 AM ^
LOL!! But, uhh, it's Cooper Kupp...
February 14th, 2022 at 10:55 AM ^
*Cooper

Through the past few decades (at least), there have been exactly zero QBs in the NFL who would have won a super bowl with Detroit. By SagNasty's "reasoning," none of the QBs on super bowl winning teams have earned it--their teams have been stacked when compared to Detroit. (Not that QBs who've won super bowls care about what SagNasty thinks.)
February 14th, 2022 at 11:25 AM ^
Tom Brady would have done it, somehow.
But that's it.
February 14th, 2022 at 9:09 AM ^
Ok, so SagNasty doesn't know football.
February 14th, 2022 at 11:27 AM ^
Come on SN, this is ridiculous. Can you name a single QB that could’ve led the Lions to the superbowl? Tom Brady is the undisputed GOAT, and I can’t even see him getting the loins to the playoffs very often, let alone winning it all.
You should really take a step back and realize how insane your expectations are and let go a bit of that Stafford hate
February 13th, 2022 at 10:11 PM ^
Matthew Stafford and Scottie Scheffler (who won the WM Phoenix Open today) both went to Highland Park High School in Dallas.
February 13th, 2022 at 10:18 PM ^
Clayton Kershaw too!
February 13th, 2022 at 10:28 PM ^
and Bobby Layne, the last Lions quarterback to win a championship.
February 13th, 2022 at 10:48 PM ^
Also Angie Harmon, Jayne Mansfield and John Hinckley.
February 14th, 2022 at 3:16 AM ^
He went to school with Kershaw?? You think that would get mentioned some time
February 14th, 2022 at 9:10 AM ^
He was also never an assistant coach anywhere.
February 14th, 2022 at 11:31 AM ^
Did anyone hear that Duncan Robinson transferred to UM - WAIT FOR IT - from division 3???
February 14th, 2022 at 11:31 AM ^
Double post
February 13th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
Good for him. Maybe he can let Barry and Calvin wear his ring a couple weeks a year.
February 13th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
The Lions are easily the best team in the NFL at selecting future hall of fame players
February 13th, 2022 at 10:13 PM ^
Happy for him, he earned it with all the shit he took for the Lions. And the Fords deserve to have him win a Super Bowl the first year he gets away from their garbage organization.
February 13th, 2022 at 10:34 PM ^
Garbage organization ? An understatement. Why are you being so kind?
February 13th, 2022 at 11:07 PM ^
I mean he was given a stacked team and needed 15 flags in the red zone to beat the Bengals.
These Detroit Rams fans...
February 13th, 2022 at 11:24 PM ^
I mean I think stacked is an overstatement. He had one competent receiver and they had a starting safety who had been out of the game for two years. Plus a rookie MLB. I mean they're talented, but with injuries farrrrrrr from a sure thing
February 14th, 2022 at 12:43 AM ^
Agree - the Rams had a lot of top players at their position, but far from "stacked" and "a lot" here means like, 3? out of ~20 positions (and 50+ people on the roster).
My favorite point of comparison for stacked is the 2001-2002 Detroit Red Wings - 10 future Hall of Famers, out of ~19 players on the gameday roster. Yes, most were either past their prime, or well before their prime, but I'd be really interested in seeing other HoF ratios on stacked teams.
February 14th, 2022 at 1:45 AM ^
The Rams owner went out and picked up a lot talent via FA. The thing Bill Ford was unwilling to do when the team was at least half decent in the early to mid 90s and then again just 8 to 12 years ago.
February 14th, 2022 at 8:16 AM ^
You're spot on, FFFF - fucking ford family failures!
February 14th, 2022 at 7:27 AM ^
Went through AZ, TB (on the road), and SF before beating the Bengals. Good team, stacked team, whatever you want to call it, he played damn well in all those games. He won the super bowl. If you are bitter about that for some stupid reason like "he also had good teammates" (which is a hallmark of all championship teams) why are you in this thread?
February 14th, 2022 at 11:44 AM ^
Sam Webb is also laying it on awfully thick. OK, we get it, you think he could have done more in Detroit. Doesn't have to be the main talking point for a week. Can't he just say he's happy for him and move on.
February 14th, 2022 at 12:36 PM ^
I really don't understand how people can look at Matt Stafford winning a Super Bowl in his first year away from the Lions and conclude Wow why didn't Matt do more here? What a bum. You should be concluding Wow. The Lions organization is awful. They had a Super Bowl caliber QB for 12 years and did next to nothing with him.
February 14th, 2022 at 3:18 PM ^
Sam is well aware of how shitty the Ford ownership has been, so why has he been so obsessed with the question of how good Stafford was in Detroit? He's gone, so what difference does it make now? What's the harm in admitting Stafford is a bit better than he thought he was? I don't get it.
February 14th, 2022 at 8:49 AM ^
Not only was Weddle out of the game for 2 years, dude tore his pec in the first half and put on a brace and logged every single defensive snap.
February 14th, 2022 at 9:18 AM ^
That was ugly - you could see him grimacing in pain every time someone touched it...
February 14th, 2022 at 9:25 AM ^
Of course, the refs picking up the flag in Dallas is insignificant, and the tuck rule never helped anyone, and every win is a clean win without controversy. Terry Bradshaw and Troy Aikman single handedly carried their teams to multiple SB victories.
I shouldn't need this but . . . /s
February 14th, 2022 at 5:08 PM ^
Bradshaw and Aikman both played on 2 of the best teams in the NFL during their careers. It’s absolutely laughable that you think either of them won those SB’s because of the QB’s. That Steelers team Bradshaw put on his back and carried probably had 11 HOF’s of their 22 starters. Worst “hot take” ever.
