LSU will require all fans 12 years and older to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test at home games this fall. In consultation with various important decision-makers, including Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, LSU president William F. Tate and athletic director Scott Woodward, the decision comes out of concern for the fast-spreading Delta variant of the coronavirus. The policy will take effect for LSU's home opener against McNeese State on Sept. 11.

Fans at Tiger Stadium will be asked to show proof of at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine backed by the FDA. That includes those shots from Moderna and Johnson & Johnson, both of which remain under emergency use authorization. Pfizer-BioNTech's two-dose vaccine received its full FDA approval on Monday. Physical or digital proof of a vaccinate card will be accepted upon inspection.

Those who aren't vaccinated will have to show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of kickoff. Kids under 12 will not need to show proof of a negative test and wearing masks is encouraged, but not required. The school is still in the works with other measures like further masking requirements and pop-up vaccine sites.

I'm curious ---- did you used to post on the Rivals free board back in the mid-2000s?  You have a lot of the same posting habits as a "SanDiegoWolverine" on that board from that era.

My favorite was when he/you posted for about 1 hour straight during the Cedar Fire in October 2003.  "Guys, I can see a bunch of 50-foot tall flames from my balcony, and the Fire Department is circling the neighborhood telling everyone to evacuate immediately?  What should I do?"

Um, leave!  Get off the message board, a wildfire is nearby!

Why would a child under 12 be exempt from the negative testing requirement? Seems like a recipe for disaster letting these kids run around in a stadium full of tens of thousands of people unmasked on a Saturday and then go to school on Monday.

The amount of people in this country who can't seem to keep up with how the virus and variants are changing baffles me. Kids can and are being seriously affected by the virus and can and do spread the virus as the delta variant is more than 4x more communicable and young kids aren't vaccinated. The knowledge we had in regards to kids being low risk and not spreading covid 19 alpha is not applicable anymore

Speaking of interesting...  If Louisiana was a manly state, and LSU a manly school with a manly football program, why is the tiger running around actually a guy in a tiger suit?  I mean, don't youse guys wrastle 'gators down there?

Let Mike run!!  FREE THE TIGER!!!!

I don't understand why some of you are upset about this being posted on the board. This is both a relevant and surprising news story.

Could the comments devolve into inanity? Sure, yes. That is not the fault of the news itself though.

after Michigan this is my second most attended college football game over the years. I absolutely cringe when I think of how this is going to go down for the gate staff.

I personally think this is a great idea!

On a completely unrelated note I have just started a new online business.  Please check it out at www.totallyrealisticfakecovidvaccinationcardsTrustustheywillfoolalmosteveryoneforonly$200eachscrewthegovernmentbygivingusyourmoneyDisregardthosepeoplewhojustgotarrestedinhawaiithoseWerecheaponockoffsanDnotasgoodastheoneswesell.com

Good for them if this is the path they want to take. This is going to be more common now that the Pfizer vaccine has full FDA approval. I understand some holding off for the full FDA approval but now that it is, and if you want to go to live events in the future, go get the shot(s).

coming from a school rather than the government may be taken a little differently. rural america simply has no love for the federal government and likely very little love for state and local. they are choosing ti be lsu fans...they cannot choose to have a different federal government

ok yes revolution is an option, but i dont consider it a good one. the current government consumed by two parties that are motiviated to maintain control rather than do what is best for the country. voting for a candidate tattooed with an R or a D is rhe problem. replacing one with the other is perpetuating the problem

I  am vaxed  but my daughter is not due to fertility concerns.  We have plans to travel together  for the opener from Florida via nonrefundable plane so I am hoping U-M maintains their current policy otherwise I am on the hook for unusable plane tickets, game tickets, and hotel.  There's nothing political but that's her family decision and I think it's late in the game to change any policies.

Firstly, this is a decision that impacts others. How you do not understand the concept of infectiousness  by now I have no idea.

Secondly, this country can draft men into it’s armed forces. You can compelled to be put into harm’s way. Furthermore, you can be mandated to be vaccinated. Again, precedent for this with polio and other illnesses.

Thirdly, if this were Nazi Germany,  as you se to think it is, you would be in a camp.

Oh and it is not an experimental vaccine. It has been fully approved by the FDA.

You have outed yourself as an idiot and ignorance. Congrats.

If it becomes an issue check with the airlines because a lot of them are allowing increased flexibility due to Covid where you can reschedule or convert the flight to a credit at no additional cost.

As for the tickets, if you bought them directly from UM and they materially alter the requirements for entry after the purchase they are legally obligated to refund you the ticket price.
