Clingan to UConn
Congrats to him for being able to live out his dream.
On to the next one...
Romulan?
Someone more logical.
No worries unless HD and Moussa are both gone after next year. Duren supposedly can make $1 million in the G-League, even Memphis and Miami aren't going to be able to match that! Would be nice to get back in running for Lively, the next best big in the class.
I loved Lively from the first time I saw Matt EM post about him. Would be quite the get.
Kewl
Good for him. I'm sure he's a fine player. But he never seemed like a game-changer recruit, so it's also no big loss.
Howard, while young in his seat, hasn’t given the fans a reason to question the program.
Harbaugh is on year 7 and has given the fans multiple reasons to question the program.
Also, Matt does a great job of level setting expectations for basketball.
Right. And you never got the sense that the class's fate hinged on this one kid. He seems like one recruit among several. And Howard usually gets who he wants most.
We would’ve been a bubble team in Howard’s first year on a team with a senior Zavier Simpson, Teske, Isaiah livers, and franz Wagner. This year we were a one seed and lost in the elite 8 to play-in UCLA. If football had done the equivalent, you’d be losing your mind. Get out of here with this weak stuff
We were behind Rutgers in the conference, we would’ve made the tournament and been bounced the first weekend
howard was a first year coach. He did win the Battle for Altantis as well.
You have no idea how the team would have preformed in the tournament either.
You're going to point to losing out to UCLA, a team that made the FF and lost to gonzaga on a 40 ft 3 point heave as a 'bad loss'
Garbage take.
Howard, in case you forgot, just signed the #1 recruiting class in the country in his second year. Not to mention winning the B1G title outright
yeah, I think he's going to get some slack that Harbaugh doesn't going into year 7 following a 2-4 season
Ha not to mention depth was always going to be an issue with last years squad - losing Livers twice was a huge loss but he was getting back to healthy and the team was playing well. Would not have been surprised if they made some noise in the B1G tournament and made it to the second weekend in the NCAAs
If by playing well you mean losing 3 of the last 4 games then yeah!!!
Lmao this fan base is indistinguishable form msu sometimes hahahaha
Perhaps we would've, but we probably wouldn't have, considering 99% of bubble teams don't and we were playing like shit and lost 3 of 4! Thanks for playing! Bye!
Imagine giving a team slack for losing to UCLA, with absolute terrible coaching for the final possession, but not to, say, OSU in football
Cognitive dissonance
oh, so now recruiting but not in-game performance is somehow a coup? Lol
"He's going to get some slack"
So, basically, you're saying Howard has done things that require getting slack? So, you disagree with the OP who said he didn't? So, what was the point of your reply? Just bad reading comprehension?
I thought UM people were supposed to be smart?
your post was complaining about Howard's performance in his first year as somehow 'underperforming'.
It's your reading comprehension that's faulty - that's why people down voted your asinine take.
Howard has done things that Harbaugh only dreams of doing - which is why basketball recruiting misses are looked upon and commented on differently than football ones.
I thought it was pretty obvious... try thinking harder next time before you post maybe? Might save you from a bunch of downvotes...
"Thanks for playing. Bye"
The Michigan football fan base is completely toxic, so I’m not sure what your point is. Even so, if Michigan football wins the Big Ten and loses to a lesser CFP opponent I think the fans will be happy.
News flash: all fanbases are toxic
This is an all time terrible take its borderline just trolling. Senior Simpson and Teske? You mean a G league guy and a guy playing in Belgium now? Franz Wagner was a true freshman and no where near the player he was his second season. The year before that we were a 3 seed and went to the sweet 16. We lost the top 3 scorers from that team in Pool, Mathews, and Brazdeikis. Even with Beilien the consensus expectations the next year were a 4/5 seed max. We then lost Livers for several weeks and had a rough patch, but he returned and we were on pace for probably a 6 seed. And losing to play in team UCLA? ROFL, same team that lost on buzzer beater to the #1 overall seed.
You’re too stupid to get the point, but you get very mad. I wonder if those things are related?
Harbaughs team has never finished in the top 8. Get out of here with this weak stuff
HaRbAuGh hAs NeVeR fInIsHeD iN tHe ToP 8.
Lol. I mean, we play a much tougher team than UCLA to end the season every year. Bad take. Very sad.
Do you have a point here? Other than trolling Im not sure I even understand what you are getting at? Harbuagh is doing better than Howard? Surely you dont mean that? Howard getting a one seed and winning the big ten is MEH?? Surely you dont mean that. Harbaugh has actually done well and we are missing it? Surely you dont mean that either. Come off the attack for a sec and clarify what your point is?
Oh thank God. I was worried that we might have a forum topic that didn’t devolve into bitching about Harbaugh
When you know that your team is coached by an elite staff you understand that the success of the next season is not hanging by the thin thread of a 17 year old recruit prospect.
yeah, well, I guess winning a B1G Title, being a #1 seed, getting to an Elite Eight and signing the #1 in the country in your second year buys you some slack.
go figure
One team has gotten results with a new coach in two years that the football program hasn’t been able to get in nearly 15.
One coach is delivering. The other one isn’t.
Howard (so far) has given Michigan basketball fans far less of a reason to question how the program is run or who is ultimately recruited in. Harbaugh has given almost no reason for that since the end of the 2016 season. But either way, I think Howard gives many more reasons for people to be patient with the basketball team.
Danny Hurley
Howard 0-4 vs Hurleys
Geno Auriemma!!!
Also near Uranus.
Clingan to Uranus, Klingon to UConn.
Last yearJuwans first choice was Kessler and Dickinson worked out far better. And who knows, with Kessler in portal maybe we get him. If not, then Dom Campbell come on down....
At least he made his decision early and the staff has several interesting and talented options to pursue.
What is Nua doing!!!
This is one of those decisions that just doesn’t make logical sense but have to deal with... good luck with that team I guess
Hometown state is a big pull for Donovan and he has resisted from bigger schools and AAU programs. He's very close to his family so it makes sense when you consider it. His home school wanted him badly so I don't blame him for staying at home
While it would have been nice to get him, he does live within an hour of the school.
So you can't really blame him.
Just think if these guys went out of state to play:
Jalen Rose
Chris Webber
Donovan Edwards
etc...
Sad to see him go to UConn, but maybe he did not feel comfortable with Moussa Diabate already committed. Hunter Dickinson may also return. Clingan may have had to red-shirt at Michigan, something he may not have wanted to do.
No reason to cling on to hope for his commitment. Apparently, not up "for competitors only".
Big East! Fear him!
This news makes me upset.
Some of us don’t do Twitter. Awful effort OP.
