We now control our own Destiny

Now let's bang...

Sorry guys. Autocorrect. I'm ashamed.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:23 PM ^
Gonzaga has a legit shot to be #1 in the polls next week. That is total bullshit
February 26th, 2013 at 9:27 PM ^
God I want Gonzaga to be the one seed in our region if we are a two and the two if we are a one.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:27 PM ^
I would consider being a 2 seed in Gonzaga's quadrant equally as awesome as being a 1 seed.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:24 PM ^
I just want to step back for a second and think about if, hypothetically, Michigan wins its next 3 games and sets up a winner-take-all game against Indiana for the league title. I can't possibly fathom what the energy in Crisler will be like.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:27 PM ^
I'm afraid it is over spring break. Which reeeeallly sucks.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:30 PM ^
If I had student tickets and I would have been out of town. I would pay the extra money to come back early for the game. No hesitation
February 26th, 2013 at 9:30 PM ^
I looked at every game under John Beilien over student break, he's 17-6 (17-4 with 2007-2008 data removed because holy shit we were bad). Of course, he is only 2-1 against ranked opponents over break.
Attendance wise, 18 out of 23 games over break saw attendance greater than the season average. And the ones that didn't were to inferior, nonconference opponents (NCCU, FGCU, Bryant, etc.)
I think we will be okay.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:44 PM ^
It is at 4 PM on the Sunday before classes start again the next day. Do not panic! Crisler will be hopping!
And, as an added bonus for me...I'll be there!
February 26th, 2013 at 9:59 PM ^
I've got a feeling it's gonna be loud and rowdy. Everybody still has a ticket to the game(unlike the MSU game) and it's the day before classes so almost everyone will be back
February 26th, 2013 at 9:33 PM ^
Theoretically, anyway. I'm not a Michigander but aren't students not in class for that game?? And will they fuggin' stay if that scenario plays out?! (Cecause I'll drive the 6.5 hours from Iowa to help fill that place for a moderately price ticket.)
February 26th, 2013 at 9:38 PM ^
Winning out will be a tall order, but its nothing they can't achieve. If we can't win two home games and road games against two teams with losing records, we don't deserve to be league champs. It's not that tough of a road.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:59 PM ^
it's two top 10 teams, one of which is the odds-on favorite to be the number 1 overall seed once the tourney starts. That's a pretty tough road.
February 26th, 2013 at 10:24 PM ^
And what are we, chopped liver? I'm pretty sure we're #4 in the country in both polls. If we're as good as our ranking suggests, we'll defend our home court. We have a score to settle with both teams and we'll be playing them in Crisler. If we can't beat them, we don't deserve the title. Last year we split with the other two co-champs.

One game at a time boys.

OH GOD I WANT THAT WISCONSIN GAME BACK SO BAD
Ah, well.
FUCK YEAH
February 26th, 2013 at 9:26 PM ^
February 26th, 2013 at 9:25 PM ^
We need Wisconsin to lose once for BTT # 1 seed purposes.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:25 PM ^
February 26th, 2013 at 9:27 PM ^
We'd be 1-2, assuming the win at the end.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:28 PM ^
February 26th, 2013 at 9:45 PM ^
It's the record against the #3 team (and if necessary, the #4 team, etc.) - but that only matters for BTT seedings. Any team tied for first is regular-season champ.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:31 PM ^
I believe it's record against the next highest team in the standings. So if we win out and split the title with IU and MSU finishes 3rd, then IU would be the 1 seed in the BTT because they went 2-0 against our 1-1 versus State.

This is going to be a crazy end to the season. Let's win them all and get the Big Ten Championship!!! Go Blue!!
February 26th, 2013 at 9:25 PM ^
We still have to beat 2 top 10 teams, but at least we get them at home.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:26 PM ^
Last time Gophers beat a #1 team: 1989
Who won the national championship that year?
:)
February 26th, 2013 at 9:26 PM ^
Home court means EVERYTHING in the Big 10 conference
February 26th, 2013 at 9:29 PM ^
And we know who has the longest home win streak in the B1G.....
February 26th, 2013 at 9:33 PM ^
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. hush.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:35 PM ^
My hand is practically bleeding from knocking on wood, don't worry
February 26th, 2013 at 9:26 PM ^
Doesn't Wisconsin hold the tiebreaker over us and Indiana? If we both win out, won't they win it outright?
February 26th, 2013 at 9:28 PM ^
No. But they will go to the Rose Bowl.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:40 PM ^
Same number of B1G losses = Split title. If both Michigan and Wisconsin win out, they both have 4 losses and both win a share of the title.
Yes, Wisconsin holds the tiebreakers right now but that only matters for B1G Tourney seeding.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:26 PM ^
I hope to God that will play Wisconsin in the BTT. I cannot wait to shit all over them after what they pulled at home.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:37 PM ^
literally.
February 26th, 2013 at 10:01 PM ^
It's possible but unlikely before the final game of the tournament.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:27 PM ^
Wouldn't Wisconsin win based on winning against Indiana and Michigan? Or is the regular season title based solely on record?
February 26th, 2013 at 9:31 PM ^
Record alone. I think tie-breakers help determine seeds but record alone is what counts for the overall title/getting a banner. *Record against Wisconsin last year was the tie-breaker used for seeding in the BTT.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:32 PM ^
It would appear you're right. I thought all three split with each other last year, but I went and checked and Michigan State beat Ohio State both times.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:34 PM ^
No wait I misread it. All three split with each other in the regular season.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:36 PM ^
MSU did not beat OSU both times. OSU's win at Breslin gave us a share of the conference title in the final game of the season. That was a pretty exciting moment.
Edit. Beat me by a second.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:37 PM ^
I think OSU beat MSU once? The top three split against each other I think, hence the tie-breaker getting down to similar opponents record.
Sparty beat Wisconsin twice, we won the only game against them and OSU split, giving OSU the worse record and the 3-eed, us the 2-seed, and Sparty the 1-seed.

We win out, we hang a banner. We're probably sharing the conference championship with either Indiana, Wisconsin, or both, but a banner is going up regardless.
Anciliary benefit, Michigan winning out means denying Sparty a share of the title. Yes please.
February 26th, 2013 at 9:28 PM ^
Fuck Wisconsin.
Indiana still plays OSU in Bloomington but the Bucks are 0-5 on the road against ranked teams this year.
Sparty plays Wisconsin at home.
