I want him back, absolutely. I just hope the recruiting "policy" isn't undermined in the process.
November 30th, 2012 at 12:42 AM ^
The recruiting "policy" is stupid. And isn't much of a policy if it's broken twice in a week (further evidence that it's stupid)
November 30th, 2012 at 8:39 AM ^
I don't think the "policy" is stupid. It's pretty straightforward: if you make a verbal commitment to Michigan, the coaches expect that to be your final decision and that you don't look around at other schools. If, after making said verbal commitment, you decide you want to look around at other schools, that's fine but you will not be considered a part of our recruiting class anymore. That doesn't mean they will stop recruiting you, it just means they're going to continue to try to fill that spot with the best possible player; which could still include the decommitted prospect.

Hoke's new policy is "day to day", and leaves much room for interpretation

I don't know what is going on, but I like it.

...but is it the Love Boat or a Carnival Cruise with a norovirus outbreak?

WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS SEATBELT NOW???
November 29th, 2012 at 9:46 PM ^
unwrap it from around your neck...not sure how it got so tangled like that, but once removed, safely reclick the belt in the appropriate slot

Hmm... I want him in the class, but this seems very strange. Hoping there is a lot we don't know; I appreciated the coaching staff's consistency.

Don't tell Magnus that!
edit - beat to the punch.

Dec. 14 could be an interesting day. If the mutual interest between Dawson and the coaches is strong enough, there must be a chance he'll commit before then.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:29 PM ^
I hope he comes back. Good kid, tons of talent, and good intensity. High schoolers are never perfect, and we don't even really know what happened, exactly.

Is it wrong that i want him to be a part of the class over the westcoast kids just because it means neither sparty nor ohio can get him?
November 29th, 2012 at 9:37 PM ^
No. Never. Trust your hatred and let it consume you.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:39 PM ^
Nope, I feel the same way. I think its pretty logical actually. I also think he is the best prospect of the 3 as well...so thats a thing here too.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:39 PM ^
damn double post.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:37 PM ^
Interesting.....well as I said when he decommitted, good luck to him in whatever he chooses, I would wish no one to have to go through what he had to this past year. Good luck to you Mr. Dawson.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:37 PM ^
OSU offers Lacy, we re-offer Dawson. Good trade IMO.

No, Sparty only recruits extraterrestrially. No local kids for them.
November 29th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
No neg, but enough with that Sparty "national recruiting" meme already. Dantonio, like Hoke, will recruit the best kids he can get, wherever they come from.

Are there weeds on Mercury?

Dude, unfortunately I'm not a mod, but that one comment deserves to get you out of bolivia. That was hilarious.
November 30th, 2012 at 12:29 AM ^
I appreciate and take seriously the comment, Stephen (Mr. Kass?), especially coming from you. However, I think you're misunderstanding the "recruiting nationally" meme. The point here is that Sparty claims to be a national recruiter, which is true insofar as it does recruit nationally. The question isn't whether it tries to get kids from all over the country, but whether it succeeds in doing so. Michigan can go into a place like Florida, California, Arizona, and get the cream of the crop, because it's a nationally-respected recruiting football brand. MSU, OTOH, can't get the cream, by and large, from anywhere but Michigan/the midwest. There will be some blue-chippers that choose Sparty, of course, but the players from outside the midwest aren't the blue-chippers that people like Taylor Lewan, for example, are.
Again, thanks for the feedback.

The meme isn't original or really that funny anymore, the same phrase has been way overused. I hate to see something that was once funny get completely over-saturated. At least bring it up in creative ways (example: the weeds thing has been used a lot, but "Are there weeds on Mercury is a new and funny way of saying it, kudos). Time to move on to something else, and there really is plenty to move onto.
November 29th, 2012 at 11:47 PM ^
Sparty will actually soon begin recruiting existentially, because honestly, whats the point, they're just going to lose to Michigan anyway.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:41 PM ^
David has went through more than most kids his age should have to..that is not an excuse and its not a okay for him to act the way he did..but i think in hindsight he understands that and want to be at UM..so i hope all works out for him
November 29th, 2012 at 9:43 PM ^
It's not ok for him to act the way he did? Why? He's working on making the biggest decision of his life so far. As a senior in high school. Who just lost his father. Please.
November 29th, 2012 at 10:30 PM ^
My opinion he was decieving..I understand losing a father and as i said i hope it all works out..If he wanted to take visits or even attend another college that is his choice..but being a honest and up front person is the more respectable way to carry yourself..and i think David wishes he had done things differently
November 29th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
Kid can't change his mind?
November 29th, 2012 at 10:43 PM ^
I have no problem with a kid changing their mind..Just be up front and honest about it..escpecially when coaches are up front and honest with you as many have said the UM staff is
Please stop making my comment sound as if im downing David or saying he owes us fans something..its his choice and i have a soft spot for any kid who loses a dad..i simply respect honesty..and thats all i expect
November 29th, 2012 at 11:35 PM ^
I'd guess you don't. Let's let the coaches -- who know him and his situation a lot better than any of us -- decide how honest or dishonest he is and was and what decision is appropriate.
November 29th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
I guess my comment is flamebait and i will respect Timayy's opinion..i trust he knows flamebait when he spots it since he has to look at it everytime he stands in front of the mirror..you and block M are misguided flame queens.
November 29th, 2012 at 11:14 PM ^
Didn't downvote you, just saying that in the grand scheme of things what Dawson did to slight Michigan is incredibly minor and he's been through a lot. No need to take recruiting so personally. He could have been more up front with the coaches, yes, but let's not get carried away.
November 30th, 2012 at 3:46 PM ^
But thanks though.
