it don't matter who is the best..together they will be a force

it gives me a warm feeling that there are 3 other players who can be argued over about this

I take it that now that Gardner is going to be in control we all have to start acting like hipsters?
November 29th, 2012 at 9:35 PM ^
dang, how did i forget Fox? i agree,i think Fox will be the best one out of this class.

Exhibit 876 regarding why you don't trash talk a kid who chooses another school.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:21 PM ^
Interesting. I wonder if this signals a shift in policy, or if Dawson didn't go behind the coaches' backs like we all assumed.
Either way, I'm sure there's a lot to this story that we don't know. I for one was always in his corner and would love to see him recommit.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
I, for one, would like to offer you a cookie for always being in his corner.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:25 PM ^
I was in his corner too, where's my cookie?
November 29th, 2012 at 9:26 PM ^
StraightDave is currently in possession of it, and will give you it if Dawson commits to Maryland
November 29th, 2012 at 9:27 PM ^
You're gonna have to fight Peggy for half of the only cookie I had to give tonight. Sorry about that.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:37 PM ^
Hope that was a sugar free cookie, what with your diabeetus and all.

Only 876? Maybe just on this blog... this year.

... Exhibit 1: Because he's a kid and trashing kids on the internet about their life decisions is moronic.

Add to that the very recent loss of his father, and it moves a notch past moronic.
He also repeated the "ship has sailed" comment almost verbatim - that raised a flag, to my way of thinking.
I'm still betting someone with suspect intentions had his ear. I would like to think that he spoke to the staff (didn't someone post a tweet from the Recruiting Office, Warren Extension suggesting that?) and the entire scenario was examined, not just the picture envisioned by the bloggery. If Hoke and Co. are interested in doing the best for the athletes, young Mr. Dawson needs to be Blue.

I wish there was some way to get rid of the 1% of Michigan fans that are complete idiots. Unfortunately, they are a vocal 1% and many have Twitter accounts.
November 29th, 2012 at 11:28 PM ^
The great (or terrible) equalizer is that every fan base has that 1%, at least among the fan bases that care.
November 30th, 2012 at 12:48 AM ^
I love Twitter, but I swear the dumbest of people use it sometimes.
November 30th, 2012 at 1:34 PM ^
Being a bit generous with the “sometimes” aren’t you?
November 30th, 2012 at 10:06 AM ^
At least the dumb ones under 17 will shift their allegiance once they end up going to MSU. We're stuck with the older ones sadly.

I'm surprised, but I think it's the right move. He's been through a lot more than has even been known publicly and I think he deserves a second chance to be a part of the class if he wants to, which I believe he does.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:44 PM ^
I wonder if there has been any reconciliation or remorse on DD's part? It would signal that there was a lesson learned and the coaches feel comfortable again taking his word.
November 30th, 2012 at 5:24 AM ^
Sounds like he and Hoke had a great talk. He still gets along with the rest of the class, so hopefully he'll feel like he's come home....again.
November 29th, 2012 at 10:00 PM ^
Even with what's known publicly, the kid lost his dad during what should have been one of the happiest, most exciting times of his life, and he probably lost one of his best advisers who could have steered him clear of the mess he ended up in.
Although it's hard to know from afar, this seems like a good decision, and I'm sure that other recruits will understand why an exception might be made.

November 30th, 2012 at 8:29 AM ^
never mind a kid, it's hard no matter how old you are. I lost my Father almost 3 years ago and I was 35. I went off the rails in a big way and even now, three years later at 38 years old I still have trouble even telling stories about him.
If I was David's age and lost my father I would have been an absolute mess. Hell, I didn't lose anyone when I was his age and I was an absolute mess. People need to give these guys a break. Whether they want to go to UM or not, people need to stop taking this recruiting stuff so personally. I mean, it's always nice when one picks us but is it really that horrible if one decides to go elsewhere? These aren't your girlfriends/boyfriends, they're allowed to look around and pick someone else.
I think it would be awesome if he chose UM but I am not going to harbour any ill will if he decides somewhere else offers him a better future.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:24 PM ^
is he an early enrollee? figured if this were to happen it would be a lot closer to signing day
November 29th, 2012 at 9:24 PM ^
I'd love to have him in this class, seems like a great kid. Hope we can get him.

November 29th, 2012 at 9:31 PM ^
Nope, Tremendous just answered me on Twitter. Coaches only want 5 OLs, Dawson would be the 5th.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:39 PM ^
They've told all their commitments they're taking five OL in this cycle. That's been the story and it's something they wouldn't go back on with the kids who are currently committed.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:25 PM ^
I guess i'll take it as long as this kid does not pull anything if he does decide Michigan is his future home. I really did like him as a recruit and as an athlete so I am pleased with this "re-offer"
November 29th, 2012 at 9:25 PM ^
Cameron Hunt and Kenny Lacy are all like, "well, fuck."
