Literally starting a new job…

Literally starting a new job on Monday, 40% pay increase. Moving into a field I wanted to be in more and leaving a job with very little future potential. Took me a while to land it, but I cannot see myself regretting it at all.

Also happy to leave the WFH environment and go back into the office setting to have a physical separation of work/life. 30 min commute each way is a cost I can live with.

I would imagine Stanford cutting some sports in the past year has an effect on this?

If you want Miami but quiet,…

If you want Miami but quiet, hotels in North Beach or Aventura.

If you just want to be near the stadium or something more family-friendly, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood is your best bet.

If you want trashy but fun Miami or have money to spend, South Beach.

If you want young vibrant Miami, Brickell.

When I used to be in that business, I found them to have the largest selection available. Their fees aren't too bad and they take care of you if there's ever an issue with a ticket

Sort of related to hockey basics, how to watch hockey? It's such a quick game that I can sometimes see a play developing but usually I'm just following the puck while glancing around to see where other players are.

Honestly, where this…

Honestly, where this concerns MGoBlog, all this comes down to is an employer making a decision that helps make his employee comfortable. I have no problem with that. It's Brian's site, he can do what he wants with it and I respect that he listens to Ace and cares enough about his thoughts to pull the podcast even if he doesn't fully agree.

I appreciate Brian's breakdown of the podcast because I will not listen to it, not because I'm against it, but simply because I don't usually listen to the WTKA pods and don't feel like this is the place to start. The transparency here is great though, and while I don't really have a strong opinion on what should happen next, I think statues of people are generally a weird thing, especially for a football coach, and whatever steps are taken I'll support. If that means taking his statue down and name off the building, sure. People aren't going to forget he existed or the things he did on the field, it's just a consequence and a stain on the legacy of a university icon.

I like that OSU didn't drop after that game. To me, that cemented them at #4, I feel like it's rare that good close losses to a better aren't penalized by dropping a team.

Ha, at UF this is the dude I used to call Matt Patricia during practice because of the resemblance. I liked him, intense guy, fiery during practice and always involved with the D coaching against the offensive scout team. Can't hurt to add, he's worked with some good coaches

As I posted in the thread…

As I posted in the thread below:

Christian Robinson is a good dude.

I worked for the UF team in 2018, he was already there as the LB coach. Typical young guy, very active at practice, LBs were a mix of old vets (including former M commit David Reese) and young talent but definitely a strong up and coming group that season.

He seemed to be pretty key for recruiting as the young coach that could connect with the players, heard a lot of good things about him. Also seems like he's close with the team, I saw him hopping out of a car with a bunch of players in the parking lot before practice a few times.

Would definitely be a good hire to defensively but especially for recruiting.

The Strangers.

I made the mistake of watching that while home alone one night in high school...yeah never doing that again. The fact that it's based on a true story and something that is so random it can happen to anyone....yeah no thanks.

Totally in agreement here.

Totally in agreement here.

I don't post much and I don't remember ever getting into anything substantial with him but he's always come across as a dude a liiiiitle too obsessed with the school. Like I'm sure this man would get maize and blue contact lenses if he could.

We're all here because we like Michigan and reading about their teams and supporting the school, but his obsession was downright unhealthy. I also think the attention he got from the blog went to his head a bit and he got too self-important. He also hasn't matured a whole lot from when he first started posting to now. Time away from here might allow him to put some energy into other things in his life that might round him out a bit as a person.

I work in social media so my usage is a bit different but I stick to Twitter generally for news or people I actually want to hear from/about and Instagram for actual friend stuff.

I can understand using Facebook for organizing and messaging since it does have the largest base, but that platform is garbage and you shouldn't use it

How long are we expecting Martelli to be with the program? I imagine this guy is itching to be in charge again somewhere soon and that he's not planning on being an assistant until retirement. I'm thinking he's gone next summer.

My office in NYC has been closed since March 9th. Very weird working from home all this time. but getting my company to pay for a home office setup (desk, extra monitor, etc.) has been very nice. I have mixed feelings about ever returning to the office.

I get he's critical of a Michigan player and that might get you a little mad, but he isn't totally wrong. All he's saying is he isn't sure if Gary will be an impact player, but he has that potential.

He's right that Gary has a huge disparity between physical ability and production. He also backs up his points with clips, which, yes, you can find negatives and positives about everyone. But, at the end of the day, the production wasn't there for whatever reason and all these draft analysts are going to try and figure out why.

Alright, so I was on the sideline for this game and talked to one of the refs during the game shortly after this attempt.

Being a Florida staffer, I was displeased with the call but he explained it to me pretty well. It's not reviewable which is dumb but unless it's clear that the whole of the ball would have been inside the pole, they have to say it's no good. He conceded that it was close and probably would have been in had the poles been extended but since it passed over the top without clearly being inside, they had to call it a miss. Chalk it up to a weird trajectory on the kick. But yeah, that miss definitely hurt and killed the team's energy (if they had any to begin with). Kentucky...yeah.

USA Today is a garbage …

USA Today is a garbage "newspaper" and this list is just dumb.

I don't understand how you can put Miami and Miami Beach on a list like this ranking as worse than Gainesville, FL. Gainesville is a shitty trashy Ann Arbor and there is no way in hell Miami is a worse place to live. Hell, rent in downtown is relatively cheap compared to other big cities around the country

PSG fan here - he'll hopefully do a lot better for you lot. He couldn't handle the personalities of our team. Arsenal will be a bit easier for him to manage I'd imagine. He's a good manager, just didn't fit at PSG at all

It shouldn't really matter

It shouldn't really matter because by nature the MLB doesn't actually use its antitrust exemption. Currently, the independent leagues aren't really rivals so the antitrust policies don't make a difference.

The MLB being a monopsony and the abolishment of the reservce clause makes antitrust regulations obsolete.

But this case isn't really about that so who knows what will happen

General lack of football talk

General lack of football talk because there's nothing to talk about.

Discussion is kind of in a holding pattern until the coaching staff is finalized and everything about recruiting this class ended in December. Early signing day was our entire class. Do you want to talk about losing Otis Reese? I don't.

There are other sports happening. Diversify.

All Jets jokes aside, their

All Jets jokes aside, their offense was surprisingly ok last season with Josh McCown's corpse at QB. This wouldn't be bad. Hell, I'd probably prefer this over McElwain

I pretty much agree. I'm not

I pretty much agree with the blog being a little sad lately. I'm not a big poster at all, I'll just usually chime in here and there on a post but this board has been filled with toxic negativity this year (2017 as a whole, not just football season).

I don't think it's a mod problem, those guys are unpaid volunteers that do a pretty good job of getting rid of the trolls and such, but there isn't much to be done about off-topic discussion. This isn't reddit where you can upvote and downvote comments and the good rises to the top. Now, maybe that's part of the redesign? If so, that sort of thing would be nice, or at least a way to follow threads more easily.

I think the point minimum needs to be raised for sure, it's awfully easy to get 100 points nowadays compared to the "+1 Informative" days. Other than that, I don't really know what can be done. It seems like it's mostly a fanbase problem. Harbaugh probably brought in more casual fans into the mix that aren't rational and will complain about everything, some warranted, some not.

Brian, Ace, Seth and the rest, y'all are doing fine

I'm very ok with everything

I'm very ok with everything going on with recruiting. Take the Ole Miss guys, and build depth.

I don't disagree that it

I don't disagree that it wasn't bad. We got unlucky the 2nd half. Missed a ton of open shots. Wagner played his worst game, Robinson is slumping a bit. Yeah, Beilein got a little too cute with his rotation but it's still early season struggles.
