Terrible CFB Scheduling this Saturday
http://espn.go.com/college-football/schedule/_/week/10
So the best game in the Noon timeslot is Michigan 15 v. Iowa, which wins by default because it is the only game involving a ranked team on the road.
The 3:30 timeslot may even be worse, with Stanford 4 v. Oregon State as the ranked team on the road edging out Texas A&M v. Oklahoma 6 in a game with likely no BCS implications.
I believe the main reason this happened is ESPN is mad at CBS for moving the LSU v. Bama game to the 8:00 timeslot, so they decided to stick South Carolina 9 v. Arkansas 7 at 7:15 and KSU 14 v. OKST 3 at 8:00 to in a probably fruitless attempt to siphon off viewers from the most touted college football game this season.
Just another reason to hate ESPN in case you need to add to the list.

So the best game in the Noon timeslot is Michigan 15 v. Iowa
That's good emough for me
November 1st, 2011 at 3:18 AM ^
thats the only game I actually care about then its time to watch the wings and ducks
November 1st, 2011 at 8:33 AM ^
If all I have to complain about is the fact that UM IS playing on tv....Dude, as long as I can get to watch my favorite team play on TV I have absolutely nothing to complain about. I could not care less about who the hell else ESPN (or anyone else) decides to televise at other times. In this instance at least, I have to say I love ESPN!
November 1st, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
Agreed. If Michigan played Iowa at 8pm that is the best game in my world. I'm clearly watching Michigan at whatever time they play.
November 1st, 2011 at 12:55 AM ^
I would have to say the Michigan 15 v. Iowa wins by default because, well, it's Michigan. What other game would any of us at this site watch?
November 1st, 2011 at 12:55 AM ^
I wasn't exactly going to watch another game at noon anyway...
November 1st, 2011 at 12:56 AM ^
even think the ARK or OKST game are even a game.....LSU v ALA game is gonna set records so good luck to whomever wants to compete. I can't see the bama offense doing too much even with trent richardson but the bama defense is flawed. I'm guessing the game ends LSU 17 ALA 10
November 1st, 2011 at 2:29 AM ^
Can you claim that the Alabama's defense is flawed? They are giving up less than seven points per game. I'm not saying they aren't, but on what basis can you give a reason that Alabama's defense looks flawed? Also, the last I checked, West Virginia put up over 500 yards of offense against LSU, so I wouldn't be so sure it can't be argued that they have shown more flaws out of the two. I personally think that both defenses look really good, but I feel like your statement might be a little baseless.

It's actually something ESPN and CBS worked out together. CBS wanted to improve their ratings so they had to give up some future negotiating rights to ESPN or something.
November 1st, 2011 at 12:59 AM ^
Anytime there is a #1 vs #2 this late in the season, it makes it a good schedule. This is a mini national championship.

SEC night game is inaccurate. ESPN carries a night SEC game just about every weekend. It's CBS who is stepping on ESPN's territory here.
CBS's timeslots for SEC games are usually noon and 3pm. CBS opted to claim Air Force/Army away from VS for their usual 3:30 slot.
The ABC/ESPN night game depends on your market, and ABC has a night game every week. This week you either get Wake Forest/Notre Dame or you get Oklahoma State/Kansas State. Whichever is on ABC, the other is on ESPN, its like this every week.
November 1st, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
If we get ND Wake on ABC I'm going to be very upset.
November 1st, 2011 at 1:41 AM ^
penn state at nebraska will be a good game
November 1st, 2011 at 2:22 AM ^
That game is next week
November 1st, 2011 at 3:04 PM ^
right? I mean, PSU is terrible.
November 1st, 2011 at 2:07 AM ^
A&M-OU>Stanford-Oregon St. OSU is god awful. A&M has at least been competitive in every game this season.
November 1st, 2011 at 5:46 AM ^
That's the only game I wrote down on the "Games To Watch" list, so I think we are in agreement here. Apart from that, Oregon vs.Stanford might get a peek only because I wonder what's in this fall at Phil Knight's House Of Discounted Uniforms.
November 1st, 2011 at 6:22 AM ^
Oregon State playing Stanford, not Oregon. A Stanford/Oregon matchup would be getting some pub too, even with the LSU/Bama game. I'm pretty sure if Stanford was playing Oregon, any kind of college football fan would say it deserves more than just a peek. Small fail there.
November 1st, 2011 at 7:01 AM ^
Still, Oregon and the uniforms.....I wish I had Phil Knight's money. South campus would be an autonomous city within Ann Arbor.
Now that I think about it, it could be interesting - Phil's an Oregon grad but I believe he went to the Stanford School Of Business for is graduate work. Obviously, like me (UM undergrad / EMU graduate school), he isn't torn.

?? OK is 7-1 and ranked #6 in the BCS standings. If the Sooners run the table from here on out—not an impossible thing—at worst they'll end up in a BCS bowl game, and there's still an outside chance they could end up in the BCS championship game, if enough teams in front of them lose a game or two.
November 1st, 2011 at 8:59 AM ^
I am expecting A&M to come out firing on all cylinders only to fail hard in the second half as they have done so well throughout this season.
November 1st, 2011 at 8:48 AM ^
Is everyone forgetting that the Minnesota/MSU upset special is playing at noon as well? That should be a game to remember for the ages.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:17 AM ^
When did 7-8 pm become the major timeslot for big college games? Didn't it used to be 3:30? There really does seem to be a lack of good day games this year.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:23 AM ^
I prefer to leave the ESPN/CBS politics out of it. I don't have all day to watch all the games. I'm not sure about you, but I only flip to other games when the main game I want to watch is on commercial, so I could really care less about having two high caliber games on at once.
I'm perfectly satisfied with Kansas St vs Oklahoma St as the alternate for the 8pm game. I think the LSU vs Alabama game is going to be awesome.
I could care less about the mid-day games since I normally have stuff to do between a noon game and the night game. I could really care less about what other games are on in the same time slot as the Michigan game.
Do you really sit down and watch all the games from Saturday to where this is really bothering you?
November 1st, 2011 at 9:49 AM ^
My god dude. You couldn't care less.
November 1st, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
"I could care less", which would mean he's at least somewhat interested.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:31 AM ^
My schedule says only two games are being played this weekend anyway: UM-Iowa and LSU-Bama.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:52 AM ^
Dude, Michigan v Iowa at noon. Air Force v Army at 3:30 and then LSU-Bama at night. I doubt this day could line up any more perfectly.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:01 AM ^
Anytime Michigan is on TV in my market is good in my book.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:18 AM ^
Count yourself lucky, buddy. Up here in remote Alaska I can't get the BTN and therefore missed 4 Michigan games so far this year. So, I am THRILLED to see Michigan play this Saturday at 8AM, Alaska time. In fact, I'd be thrilled to watch them at 1AM! Be thankful for what you have.

I really like the primetime schedule this weekend
A lot of great games for all my TVs
Whats the problem again?
November 1st, 2011 at 11:08 AM ^
Again ESPN trying to show it's muscle....
Great article over on USA Today questioning if ESPN is behind the whole conference realignment mess going on. I cant link but a very good read....
November 1st, 2011 at 11:24 AM ^
Breeders' Cup is on Saturday... that takes up ABC coverage (and ESPN2 I believe).
That's probably more why all those good games are on later.
November 1st, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
I think it sets up perfectly. I can watch the M game, go do some stuff with the fam and be back the the house in front of the TV for the Bama v LSU contest and get drunj.
November 1st, 2011 at 3:10 PM ^
let's ALL get drunj!
November 1st, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
I don't know if any y'all are like me, but it really depends on how M does. If they lose, I can't stand football. I freaking hate it and never want to see it again. I was such a pissy baby, I'm not even sure I'd have watched LSU v. Bama after the loss. In fact, it was a good thing for me that the bye came when it did, cuz I didn't even miss football that week. But when they win, I will watch any craptastic disgusting game of football I can lay my eyes on, no matter what the matchup. Its weird.
