I thought the same thing and was amazed they weren't reviewing it. I thought for sure that ref was running to the table to review it to see if Morgan touched the rim / ball. After seeing a replay, he wasn't even close.

John Beilein's reaction during and right after the shot is so great and true to his personality. The least excited excitement I have ever seen.

Way to fix the formatting.
Now let me go read your post

Aaron Andrews you say? I guess a bro-hug may have made him feel better but I think a hug from Erin Andrews would be much better.

Levert almost blew it late. Kept pressing too much late. Thank God Stauskas could bail him out! Still love Levert.

I thought he said "I want this!" I want this!" but "I run this shit" is much better.

Its my birthday today and Michigan Basketball has not lost a game in the last three years the day before, the day of or the day after my birthday! GO BLUE!
AND I'M DRUNK ON WHISKEY AND ITS ONLY 8:30PM!
|14 weeks 7 hours ago||I think his point||
I think his point is going from an "unsuccessful season" to playing in the national championship game, or, at least making it to the College Football Playoff.

Not cool man!
|17 weeks 6 days ago||Its not just about number of wins||
Its not just about number of wins. I think Hoke and co. needs to post another winning record next season, say 8-4, 9-3, showing some progress to keep the haters at arms length.
There is a year for me that will be my "final evaluation" and that is 2016. This will give Hoke his first "real" recruiting class in their RS JR and SR years. This will give us the best insight into what the future of Michigan football will be under Hoke. Hoke's DNA will be throughout the entire roster and the experience will be there to boot. This would be Shane Morris RS JR or SR season. Michigan must be playing in the B1G Championship game that year.
Hoke needs to have Michigan playing in the B1G Championship game in 2015 or 2016.

|20 weeks 1 day ago||Your statement||
Your statement is implying that people believe he isn't working his ass off or that the team isn't playing their hearts out every week.
Everyone on this board agrees that this team and Hoke is working extremely hard this year but for whatever reason, it isn't working. Making a statement like that is pointing out the obvious, which Hoke gets nailed for week in and week out.
He can't win. I don't know why every coach doesn't take the pissed off Dantonio approach and just "one word answer" every question.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||Amen.||
Amen. Well said, Magnus. Agree 100%.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||Really?||
Really? 3 years as head coach, 2 years of elite level recruiting and improving defense every year and you're ready to fire him?
The offense has been the problem. We all know Hoke is a defensive coach. The defensive line is improving this year, an area Hoke wanders often.
We need changes on offense. Hoke is the man for the job.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||Well said||
Well said. I agree with you. Brady Hoke is a good coach. The growing/transition pains suck but the prices aren't his fault.
Brian turned into a real blogger on this one and its too bad. Normally I agree with him.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||Couldn't agree more||
Couldn't agree more. I made similar statements in my comment. The fans on this site are extremely fickle.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||Agreed.||
Agreed. If I'm performing poorly at my job, my boss has to make a decision to terminate me or reduce my salary. Right? That isn't on Hoke.
Hoke is responsible for the product on the field and he has said that ad nasuem in press conferences.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||Do you think||
Do you think it's smart of a head coach to say to his group of young men that have been working extremely hard all year long "Yeah, this team sucks. And I am to blame for some of that. So I understand why fans won't be showing up".
That's not a leader and not something a head will ever say. You have to be realistic here. I understand thats what we want to hear, but come on man. Be realistic about the politics of being a head coach and the players who have worked extremely hard.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||Hoke is 100% right||
Hoke is 100% right. Fans are fickle. People are fickle. If by some miracle Michigan wins this Saturday, the boards would explode with a lot of very happy fans. A lot of the fans who were so pissed last Saturday, claiming they're done and will not watch another game but yet they will be elated and talking about how great this is. The exact definition of fickle.
You're attacking Hoke like he has something to do with the ticket prices. It's like getting mad at the director of a movie because of the ticket price at your local theater. You're mad at the product that you're paying for (rightfully so) and Brady Hoke has something to do with that. However, if you aren't fickle, then go to the game and show your loyalty, show your affection for your team.
You're bitching like the prices are Hoke's problem. Hoke's problem is the product on the field but its quite obvious this team is working extremely hard and the results just aren't there. Be mad about that but don't put the prices on him.
And fans are fickle. See the board on this site.
|21 weeks 3 hours ago||Every time||
Every time you put that awful shadow on pictures, a litter of kittens die. What is this, 1999? Amirite?
I am frustrated with Gardner but I don't want anyone else at QB right now. Unfortunately, I don't think the OL is helping evaluate his ability as a QB. To me, the biggest problem is the lack of ability to go through his progressions, which is probably caused by his lack of time in the pocket.
I don't think this is on Borges. His plays are getting guys open but Gardner can't find them in time.
|22 weeks 10 hours ago||A Couple Questions||
A Couple Questions for SC:
1.) If you were Hoke, what would you do with Funk after the season?
2.) Do you think Al Borges has widdled his playbook down to nothing, due to the fact the OL can't block the simplest schemes at this point in the season? I'm afraid this is how we're becoming so predictable. Not because its Borges tendencies but because that is all he can do at this point.
I have been behind Borges this entire season because I have seen plays (like this one) where the play calling is right but one or two things have broken down and killed the play. It always seems that its the OL breaking down.
It seems that OL issues are killing everything Borges wants to do. They can't pass protect, they can't do basic run schemes, I don't know what else Al Borges could do. How much of this is on Al Borges from a coaching perspective? Do you think he spends much time with the OL?
The only time I have been down on Borges was in the Nebraska game, right after we get the muffed punt recovery and he calls two run plays for losses. That was so asinine. It appeared that he didn't want to run pass plays for fear of taking sacks and getting out of field goal range.
Great write up. I always enjoy reading what you have to say. Its really helpful to get another prospective, one that isn't so (ahem) negative.
|22 weeks 6 days ago||He is just trying to get hits||
He is just trying to get hits. Does anyone else find it a coincidence that some of the highest rated recruits are considering transferring in their first or second year? Seriously? This is a joke.
I'm surprised he didn't say that Jabril Peppers is considering "transferring" too. Don't spread his crap. This thread should get deleted so that site doesn't get another hit.
|23 weeks 6 hours ago||To answer your question||
To answer your question, the more pain would be we're younger than the others and include a walk-on. We have a true freshman, a RS Freshman and a RS SO Walk-on.
Let's use Auburn for example, since they're technically less-experienced than us, according to the average.
LT - Greg Robinson - RS SO - 4 star to Rivals
With Auburn, there are 0 walk-ons, all highly rated recruits and the one three star is a RS JR. Also, the interior is where most experience is, which is opposite of Michigan.
There are so many factors that go into it... The coaches are probably trying to save as many redshirts as possible while still trying to get the best oline out there but the experience just isn't there.
|23 weeks 11 hours ago||Good stuff||
Good stuff, Gameboy. Happy to see you include all of the top teams. I think that helps put it in perspective where Michigan is at compared to the top teams.
I went and grabbed the 1997 OL and it looks like this:
OG - Chris Ziemann - JR
OG - Steve Hutchinson - SO
OT - Jon Jansen - SR
OT - Jeff Backus - SO
C - Zach Adami - SR
Also - since it seems that UCLA is the most similar to us, they're working with three 3-star OL and two 4-star OL. They're making it work but their not top-level. And they don't have any walk-on OL.
|23 weeks 11 hours ago||I disagree||
I disagree, yes we have a young OL - but we also have young WALK-ON OL playing. Do you agree that OL take time to develop? These guys aren't getting the benefit of watching tape their FR, SO years and getting all of those reps in practice. They're doing it in game and we're seeing the result.
You can't coach every possible in game scenario. This year is absolutely a "growing pains" year. Next year will definitely be the telling year if this coaching staff can develop these young OL.
|23 weeks 1 day ago||If you really want to||
If you really want to put it in perspective, you should actually use the top programs like you said you did. Include Alabama, Oregon, Florida St and (ugh) Ohio. You include Stanford and Stanford lost to Utah(!). That is a PSU level loss for them. They will also get smoked by Oregon.
I did the same analysis you did, I also looked at the 97 Oline and there is more experience there plus you're not looking at a walkon in those positions.
I don't have time now but I will update with more data.

|25 weeks 6 days ago||I agree||
I agree with you mGrowOld. I want to see Al finally say, "Okay, this isn't working. Let's go with what we know has worked" and install some new pass/run plays out of the gun, or simply install some run plays from the gun and stick with the pass plays that have worked.
I want so badly for them to abandon something that clearly hasn't worked. I appreciated reading SpaceCoyotes review on MaizeNBrew. The play calls were good, but the execution wasn't and that has been a recurring theme this year.
Abandon the stuff that isn't working because of execution, not because the play call is bad, but because we simply cannot execute. Go with the plays we are executing and install things that are more along that line.
