We are also, according to espn, 127th in tempo. Only Army takes longer to get off a play than us.
|1 day 12 hours ago||the big shift||
10 years ago, this would have been a noon game, and the big games that week would have been at 3:30, right? Now, we get bumped up because all the marquee matchups are in prime time.
At least Minnesota is a conference game. Playing Miami at 3:30 was beyond ridiculous.

IIRC, Mgoquestions are pretty rare in Hoke's pressers. It was in the coordinator conferences (which I'm guessing are less crowded) where Heiko made his mark.

Sometimes when you're on, Brian...

Brian googled trypophobia.

A score-casting app and a few analysis site are all you need. Ironically, one of my current favorites is Grantland; I haven't been to espn.com since it launched.

You can't just put that old man pic of Hill there like that. I'm trying to be cool reading this on my couch and now I'm snorting and trying not to laugh out loud.

Thinks that you are right. Stonum had the TD against Notre Dame, but that was a kickoff.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||I was in the stadium that||
I was in the stadium that day, and a lot of us assumed that call was BS as it was happening. Just massive, massive luck on the last drive.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||oh man||
Thought experiment: Imagine the last 2 minutes of the 2002 game happening against Penn State or Michigan State. The fan bases might literally explode from rage, Scanners-style.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||me too||
I'm going to miss the App St. game this year because...it's terrible and is an abomination. I think ESPN will be off limits for the week before the game, too.

2011 OSU, because obviously.
2010 Illinois- a little embarrasing in hindsight, but I was watching at home with my newborn baby girl and was emotional to begin with.
2004/2005 OSU- not immediately, but I was pretty shaken up in the aftermath both times. I've said it before, but that '05 Game was worse than the horror for me, by a long shot.
2005 Hockey Regionals- Michigan let a late lead slip away, I was there, a senior, and a member of the Michigan Band for the last time. That, more than the loss, caused me to lose it so badly I had to pull my jersey over my face.

But...that's peak highlighter yellow there.

It would make me really happy if Glanda had a long and glorious pro career.
Oh, and everyone in Philly is excited about Molk...no small feat in PSU country.

It was great fun watching it all go down, but in a few years what he did won't even be against the rules.

This did me in...I'm going to get an early lunch.

|5 weeks 1 day ago||how's your internet?||
If you have a good connection where you will be (hotel?), some TV packages now let you stream your dvr to a tablet or phone.

Don't get too excited...my money is on 2 hours of punting coverage "scrimmaging".
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Train stuff||
First, that's depressing. Even in the NE (where at least some rail infrastructure remains un-destroyed), many routes are the same speed or slower than 100 years ago. Also, I replied to that tweet, and the same journey is impossible today, at least on commericial trains.
Second, do special chartered trains like that have a chance at making a comeback? I'd rather ride in a train, sober up and maybe nap, than try to get out of a football stadium parking lot and head up a clogged highway.

If another team had done this, I'd roll my eyes and say, "yeah, nice publicity stunt." Since this is the Spurs, I fully expect Coach Hammon to contribute to a successful season, and then go on to do great things.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||2 football things||
1. What was the line...last time? I remember -28 (or 'no line'), but 35 doesn't seem that far off.
2. Re: weights, Is it time to talk about weight limits in football? The OL is big because the DL is big because the OL is big...If they all were 295 it'd be the same, and the players would be a lot healthier for it.
|6 weeks 6 days ago||can't do it||
I don't think I can physically face watching that team again. My plan is to Billy Beane it- just drive around, checking the score on my phone until it's safe to come home.

You couldn't play a World Cup game at the Big House without going a few rows into the stands (or building a platform). For this, they are probably going to draw the field out as wide as they can while still being safe, and call it a day.

I would've bet on an article praising recent Bo Pelini awesomeness.

"It's our job to teach them how to make a living at the university and not to give them their living at the university."
Says the guy who makes $2 mil a year from said University? I went to Michigan on a (partial) academic scholarship, and majored in biology. Did that scholarship money prevent me from working in one of the labs there? No, that would be nuts, but it's what is happening to some athlethes.

Bus 6 is still the "rowdy" bus (or was 10 years ago), and it's co-ed, but you are correct: No one is there that doesn't want to be there, and when that thing stopped moving, everyone knew they were about to represent the "M" in public and acted accordingly.

As I after Illionois 2012, Funchess, is, in fact, Tacopants.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||I don't like it||
Even for January enrollees. Senior year of HS is just an amazing period of messing around and spending time with friends, sometimes for the last time.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||highly biased opinion||
But you could root for, like, Dempsey's current team. Or Michael Bradley's, or Thierry Henry's, or Mo Edu's (hey!), or the batshit lumberjack's.
Still, the Saturday morning English games are great to look at, no more so than before kickoff at Anfield. (just google YNWA)

My good friend from HS was DE #60 on Dartmouth for a few years back in the day. He would constantly go back and forth between 1) being happy to be playing himself in a video game, and 2) being annoyed because his ratings were in the 50s and 60s (again, DARTMOUTH).
