Matsuyama is due for a win. He has been close many times and he just is a name that hangs around the top of the leaderboards every tournament.

One of my favorite days of the year!
If anyone here ever gets the opportunity to attend, do it.
I’m not a huge golf fan, barely know anything about the sport, but I’d attend in a heartbeat if I ever had the opportunity. It’s like the Olympics or World Cup where it’s just supposed to be on any sport fan’s true bucket list.
Only issue is that you have almost zero control over your ability to get in, unless you want tickets for the practice rounds earlier in the week. Has to be harder than getting into the Super Bowl. At least for the Super Bowl you can always buy your way in if you’re willing to spend thousands of dollars.
All the money in the world still doesn’t get you into Augusta.
Only issue is that you have almost zero control over your ability to get in,
Absolutely not true.
A few years ago I bought tickets no problemo and for the weekend.
Interesting. My understanding was that if you wanted to get in for actual rounds (not practice days) you had to enter the ticket lottery and just hope your number was called. Either that or you had to know someone really important, or have corporate tickets. That’s the only way my father in law has been able to get in for previous years.
But hey, if you were able to legitimately buy tickets to get in then more power to you.
My friend’s father-in-law has worked the ninth green for 30 years. He (my friend) gets to get in any year he wants. Pretty cool gig!
Without a big crowd I wonder if we will still see a bunch of the newer names melt like they traditionally do? I hope someone outside the last 4 groups can make a run to put that Augusta pressure on the last few groups. I'm hoping Finau at -3 goes low like he did Friday. Of the guys at the top I think Conners has the best shot to catch Matsuyama, he played well on Sunday in November to finish top 10.
Maybe
Matsuyama was unreal after the break yesterday. Let's see if that momentum continues.
Side note: I'm noticing a LOT of strange putter grips (that sounded bad, I know) as of late. Anyone else notice that? I don't watch a lot of golf any more, so maybe it's something that's been around for a while, but some of the "top hands" on the club look very odd to me in terms of the grip.
The claw grip and the left-hand-low grip (aka the back handed grip for right handed players) has practically become the norm
Huh. Interesting. Thanks!
Granted I’m a 10 handicap, but the claw grip has always felt so odd to me when I’ve messed around with it.
I’d like to see Matsuyama win, he’s been a good golfer for a long time. I picked Cantley and Koepka in my pool. My research was flawed.
I'm a big fan of Brooks but rushing back from an injury didn't inspire a whole lot of confidence for me to pick him.
My flawed research failed to note he is playing on one leg. Pretty weak effort on my part.
A tradition unlike any other
Faldo drinking already, providing color commentary on golf wear …
I feel better about Matsuyama winning today after hearing Faldo on his color choices...
Lol. That was one of the stranger things Sir Faldo has spouted out of his mouth.
I want to see Zalatoris win it because he looks like Happy Gilmore's first caddy. And he seems like a good kid. But I'd be happy to see Hideki win too. He's due.
Just spit-take’d my Two-Hearted. Thanks for that.
Sorry, yo. Lol
No problem, Yak. I can’t unsee it now. Great start with the birdie on 1!
Birdie birdie. 1 back.
This is the stamp on his wedge
I...i think I love him.
You think Happy Gillmore is to golfers like Slapshot is to hockey players?!
I think Caddyshack moreso, but it may be generational
Right on for Caddy Shack. Forgot about that one.
One of the best days of the year. Hoping for some excitement and great play!
Woof. Not the opening drive Matsuyama was looking for.
Zalatoris trying to make a name for himself...
Does anyone else think Zaltaoris looks like Happy Gilmore's caddy at the Waterbury Open?
Look up like 5 comments
Whoops. Anyways, he's off to a good start.
Haha. No worries, mate.
Dude looks like he weighs about 140. Hideki's throat is getting tighter, give him some water! Lots of golf remaining though.
I think they said yesterday that Zalatoris had like a size 26 waist, I haven’t been that size for a looooooooooooooooong time
Yeah, like when I was 12
Guy can drop bombs off the tee tho for a little guy
Yes says my BetMGM wager
Fucking hell tony finau!! LOL
No interest in golf here. But if Bryson Dechambeau is losing, I'm watching.
Lol. He’s an interesting dude.
my wife cheered from the other room when his approach shot went in the drink
Girlfriend just popped in and is already rooting for Zalatoris.
She finds Zalatoris very stimulating.
I tried.
At least SHE can find it, amirite?
how many times do you think you'd have to play this course before the nerves stopped wracking your off the tee?
Hoping to get to the womens am next year, just want to walk the course
