Is Santa giving the gift of Harbaugh?

Santa Ono made some comments about Harbaugh before the basketball game. It sounds like he’s ready to help Warde do what’s necessary to keep Jim in Ann Arbor and clearly understands the importance of football and athletics overall at Michigan.

I've always loved Mike Tomlin. You know he'd be unbelievable behind a microphone and I think he'd be a great recruiter as well. I just don't think the Steelers would get rid of him. The guy has had some locker room issues, but he wins. Sure they've had some down years, but I think they're on the right track. Pickett looks like a winner and they really just have to find a way to fix their god awful offensive line. They have no problem finding good players at every other position, so I'm not sure why they've been so inept at building a line.

Warde can’t give him a Super Bowl win, outspend an NFL team, or get him out of the current NIL/transfer portal mess created by the absence of leadership the NCAA has displayed,.

My take is of any of the potentailly open NFL head coach positions, none of them are ready to win the Super Bowl in the next 3-5 years. Heck the Lions probably have better chances. I believe the best chance of Jimmy getting a ship is staying at Michigan. I may be dumb but I'd rather take my grandkids to see my statue outside Schembechler Hall when I am 72 then explaining why I got fired from the Colts after 3.5 years.

Sure - but most NFL teams aren’t within 3-5 years of a Title when they need a coach.  It’s why they have an opening.

If Harbaugh truly HAS TO have another shot at the NFL to feel fulfilled (and maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t) - he can’t wait forever.  Time is becoming a factor.  59 isn’t ancient but it is a math equation: his own age plus the 3-5 years necessary to get to the top.

That could change on Monday when Kingsbury gets fired, or when Stephen Ross decides it's not fair that he has to sit on his hands while every other NFL team takes a crack at JH. The Dolphins plan to start Skylar Thompson against the Jets on Sunday, and who really thinks Mike McDaniel is capable of leading a team to the Super Bowl?

The difference in money shouldn't be enough to sway his decision one way or another (assuming he's getting a new offer from UM). Unless someone is really going to give him $20MM/year, which I highly doubt. Maybe Sean Payton gets that, but I can't see Harbaugh getting more than Belichick, McVay, and everyone else in the NFL.

Nope. I understand why he’s doing what he’s doing but personally feel like the Super Bowl isn’t gonna happen. He could not uproot his family and kids and be a god here versus probably being shit canned in 3 yrs. The nfl isn’t what it was last time he coached there. Although nothing else is either.

"I hope we can keep him"

Sounds real promising folks. Lol.

Y'all are going to be extremely disappointed when Harbaugh starts interviewing for other jobs.

No. I'm  not gloating at all and I definitely wouldn't be happy with Harbaugh leaving...but......

There are way too many people who are going to be extremely disappointed to learn that Harbaugh truly does want to be back in the NFL.

Santa's "I hope we can keep him" is just funny at this point.

It was just weeks ago where he said he would enthusiastically be back coaching this team next season.

But. Yeah. I guess I HOPE he returns. Lol.

I'm guessing the down-voters didn't click the link. This quote is the only thing that Warde said recently in relation to Harbaugh.

“He’s a great coach. I hope we can keep him.”

All the rest is from his presser in July.

I don't blame Zuniga for writing an entire article about these 10 words, but man, not looking forward to one of THOSE kinds of news months.
