Is Santa giving the gift of Harbaugh?
Santa Ono made some comments about Harbaugh before the basketball game. It sounds like he’s ready to help Warde do what’s necessary to keep Jim in Ann Arbor and clearly understands the importance of football and athletics overall at Michigan.

🧑🏽🎄 continues to deliver
Love that man
January 4th, 2023 at 8:37 PM ^
Harbaugh wants another shot at the Super Bowl.
What I want to hear is that UM is prepared to move quickly once he does.
January 4th, 2023 at 8:49 PM ^
Ditto that! I would hope there is a plan in place with 1 or 2 candidates and it's done very quick. I wouls also hope this plan was in place after last years soap opera.

Monken
Vrabel (lol, pipedream but OSU would implode)
Sean Payton (pipedream)
Whittingham
January 4th, 2023 at 10:04 PM ^
Monken 100000% yes!!!!!
January 4th, 2023 at 10:06 PM ^
The dude who is almost as old as Harbaugh and hates recruiting? No thanks.
January 4th, 2023 at 10:09 PM ^
He also is hated by UGA fans for his lack of creativity. He possesses overwhelming talent.
Plus, he hasn’t coached in the region for 30 years.
It’s bizarre that people are suggesting him.
January 4th, 2023 at 10:07 PM ^
Monken would be absolutely horrific hire. Like Brady Hoke level bad.
January 4th, 2023 at 10:23 PM ^
I hope we are able to retain Harbaugh but I'd be all for Kyle Whittingham, what he's done at Utah has been very impressive. Strong program he's built there,
January 4th, 2023 at 11:32 PM ^
Whittingham is 63 years old. That's not happening.
January 4th, 2023 at 10:39 PM ^
If we're doing way out of the blue people it's Tomlin, who has said he likes the program.
January 4th, 2023 at 11:28 PM ^
January 5th, 2023 at 1:47 AM ^
I still can't get over the time he intentionally tripped a player on the opposing team returning a punt. No thanks.
January 5th, 2023 at 10:23 AM ^
I've always loved Mike Tomlin. You know he'd be unbelievable behind a microphone and I think he'd be a great recruiter as well. I just don't think the Steelers would get rid of him. The guy has had some locker room issues, but he wins. Sure they've had some down years, but I think they're on the right track. Pickett looks like a winner and they really just have to find a way to fix their god awful offensive line. They have no problem finding good players at every other position, so I'm not sure why they've been so inept at building a line.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:20 AM ^
Kliff Kingsbury. Things are getting rocky in AZ.
January 5th, 2023 at 8:41 AM ^
Kliff Kingsbury has failed as HC at every level he's been at. His only value to me is as a college OC.
January 5th, 2023 at 12:32 PM ^
For reference, Kingsbury had Mahomes as his starting qb at Texas Tech for 2 years and went 12-13, IIRC.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:34 PM ^
Well that would be a pretty idiotic thing for Ono to say at this stage. We’ll see!
January 4th, 2023 at 8:37 PM ^
Ho ho ho. Santa is here to bring you into the 21st century.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:38 PM ^
🎅 with a sack full of cash!
January 5th, 2023 at 7:47 AM ^
Our Santa doesn't smell like beef and cheese.
January 5th, 2023 at 8:38 AM ^
I'm fake?...How'd you like to be dead?
January 4th, 2023 at 8:50 PM ^
Help Warde or force him to do what's needed? One wonders.
January 4th, 2023 at 8:56 PM ^
I definitely like the direction things appear to be trending with Santa in charge -- with or without Harbaugh.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:06 PM ^
Well, you can always count on Santa to deliver.
January 4th, 2023 at 10:14 PM ^
AND to punch the occasional heretic.
January 5th, 2023 at 8:01 AM ^
This comment deserves sizable upvotes for its historical literacy.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:02 PM ^
Warde can’t give him a Super Bowl win, outspend an NFL team, or get him out of the current NIL/transfer portal mess created by the absence of leadership the NCAA has displayed,.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:19 PM ^
Exactly
January 4th, 2023 at 9:26 PM ^
My take is of any of the potentailly open NFL head coach positions, none of them are ready to win the Super Bowl in the next 3-5 years. Heck the Lions probably have better chances. I believe the best chance of Jimmy getting a ship is staying at Michigan. I may be dumb but I'd rather take my grandkids to see my statue outside Schembechler Hall when I am 72 then explaining why I got fired from the Colts after 3.5 years.
January 4th, 2023 at 10:06 PM ^
Sure - but most NFL teams aren’t within 3-5 years of a Title when they need a coach. It’s why they have an opening.
If Harbaugh truly HAS TO have another shot at the NFL to feel fulfilled (and maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t) - he can’t wait forever. Time is becoming a factor. 59 isn’t ancient but it is a math equation: his own age plus the 3-5 years necessary to get to the top.
January 4th, 2023 at 10:11 PM ^
That could change on Monday when Kingsbury gets fired, or when Stephen Ross decides it's not fair that he has to sit on his hands while every other NFL team takes a crack at JH. The Dolphins plan to start Skylar Thompson against the Jets on Sunday, and who really thinks Mike McDaniel is capable of leading a team to the Super Bowl?
January 4th, 2023 at 11:08 PM ^
Regarding the Dolphins, I wonder how many years Tua has left in his (unfortunately) beat up body. They may be scrambling for a QB sooner rather than later.
January 4th, 2023 at 11:13 PM ^
Do coaches actually want statues of themselves?
January 5th, 2023 at 7:44 AM ^
The 49ers were terrible when Harbs took over, and he got them Super Bowl ready in a few years. Not sayin, just sayin!
PS if they want to replace the statue of Bo with one of Harbaugh, I’m here for it
January 4th, 2023 at 9:36 PM ^
The difference in money shouldn't be enough to sway his decision one way or another (assuming he's getting a new offer from UM). Unless someone is really going to give him $20MM/year, which I highly doubt. Maybe Sean Payton gets that, but I can't see Harbaugh getting more than Belichick, McVay, and everyone else in the NFL.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:40 PM ^
Even if he got that, is he really the kind of guy who would say it had been a good decision if none of the goals actually materialize other than a bunch of cash? Is money really enough?
January 5th, 2023 at 7:36 AM ^
Nope. I understand why he’s doing what he’s doing but personally feel like the Super Bowl isn’t gonna happen. He could not uproot his family and kids and be a god here versus probably being shit canned in 3 yrs. The nfl isn’t what it was last time he coached there. Although nothing else is either.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:12 PM ^
Loving this president. Such a 180 from the last guy.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:27 PM ^
Finally, we have a prez who gets it
January 4th, 2023 at 9:39 PM ^
The difference a pro-sports president can make. Thank god the last guy was forced out.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:41 PM ^
"I hope we can keep him"
Sounds real promising folks. Lol.
Y'all are going to be extremely disappointed when Harbaugh starts interviewing for other jobs.
January 4th, 2023 at 10:08 PM ^
Are you going to be happy? Sounds like you are gloating?
January 4th, 2023 at 11:28 PM ^
No. I'm not gloating at all and I definitely wouldn't be happy with Harbaugh leaving...but......
There are way too many people who are going to be extremely disappointed to learn that Harbaugh truly does want to be back in the NFL.
Santa's "I hope we can keep him" is just funny at this point.
It was just weeks ago where he said he would enthusiastically be back coaching this team next season.
But. Yeah. I guess I HOPE he returns. Lol.
January 5th, 2023 at 9:33 AM ^
I'm guessing the down-voters didn't click the link. This quote is the only thing that Warde said recently in relation to Harbaugh.
“He’s a great coach. I hope we can keep him.”
All the rest is from his presser in July.
I don't blame Zuniga for writing an entire article about these 10 words, but man, not looking forward to one of THOSE kinds of news months.
January 5th, 2023 at 12:05 PM ^
My guess is the down votes are because of the way he comes off.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:57 PM ^
Fucking leadership that gets it.
Jim is not leaving all that.
