If they are on the bubble at…

If they are on the bubble at the end of the season it will be a success.  Even a play in game would be worth celebrating. A near miss and a decent NIT run would not be bad.

Good.  He should have it…

Good.  He should have it restored. Took too long.

In what world would this guy…

In what world would this guy think that is appropriate?  "Start doing it to me and we'll get along just fine."???  WTF? I hope the paper has apologized to Clark. Big creepy old man vibes in this exchange.

Great role for him. He is also great in True Romance.  Only in that movie for maybe 10 min and just blows it away.

Damn!  Really needed to steal a point there. Thankfully the ‘canes got a late one to beat the caps in regulation.

Gibby hit two of the most memorable HR in World Series History!  Wonder if Goose still thinks he should pitch to him?

Just gross.  Assault.

What does this last year…

What does this last year team look like with Love and Shannon?  What does the season prior look like with Shannon?

The roster was a mess, but that was not all on Juwan. Dug and Love pretty damn good PG rotation.

Not that it matters now, but a coach has to think about those things when he is expected to win at a high level, but does not have a level playing field (court)

lollygaggers!

I know it’s been a rough season but they should at least let them wear maize.

In all seriousness I do feel for the players. This is their dream and for whatever reason it has been in the gutter this season. Hope they can learn and grow from the adversity where ever they play next season. Oh and that they are taught how to play defense. That would help.

Silence of the Lambs and Red…

Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon were both really good, although I have not read them in a very long time.  Also, WiseGuys the book that GoodFellas was based off is also an interesting book.

Side question.  Do you read mulitple books at once?  Or read one until you are finsihed and start another?  I only ask because I just assumed everyone read one book at a time, but recently spoke to someone that had 3 going at the same time.  Just curious.

Capote's In Cold Blood maybe…

Capote's In Cold Blood maybe my favorite book of all time.  Have read it mulitple times. Same for to Kill a Mockingbird (when you graduate law school every older person in your family gets you a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird)

But If I were on a island Cold Blood would be a decent book to have. Also a plug for Stephen King's short story book "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption"  Obviously has Shawsank Redemption in it, but also "The Body" which was the basis for the movie Stand by Me. Easy and quick reads that are great stories.

I am about half way through …

I am about half way through "Demon Copperhead"  I picked it mostly because it is set around the area I went to high school but it has been a decent read.  About a boy in far southwest virginia that ends up in the foster system.

Just finished "American Demon" About Eliot Ness' time in Cleveland searching for a serial killer (nonfiction)

Also recently finsihed Brusce Springsteen's book, which I enjoyed because I am a big fan of the Boss!

Thanks for this thread I will check out some of the recommendations.

God Bless you and your daughter!  My dad has been in ICU for the last 5 weeks and I am certain that there is a special place for nurses.  They have been so overwhelmingly kind to my father and compasionate. While it is a horrible situation they are truly amazing.  Nurses have all of my admoration and respect.

I am not a Ron English…

I am not a Ron English defender by any means but that Appy St offense was loaded with D-1 talent at the skill positions.  No way they should have beaten a top 5 Michigan team, but they were the two time defending champs and won the championship gaime again that year. Teams that grow accustomed to winning expect to win and that team really showed that belief. English did not have his guys ready to play.

If you are going to schedule a cupcake schedule a cupcake.  Don't schedule a bag of glass with frosting on it.

We got incredibly lucky. A…

We got incredibly lucky. A great coach, great players who stayed together through thick and thin, many of whom played way above their recruiting rankings and were part of a group that came on-board before NIL at a University bucking the trend of spending money to get the best talent.

This a thousand times.  It was a perfect storm of a roster that came in right before NIL and really bought in and stayed together. I think it will be next to impossible to replicate.

This was my thought also. …

This was my thought also.  If they go 7-5 and keep recruiting in the high teens for the 2025 class and can't clean up the NIL issues and can't figure out a way to deal with transfer credits they are in danger of sliding out of the top quarter of the Big Ten.

Ohio State, Oregon, USC, Washington, Penn St.  Those teams are not going anywhere and seem to be further ahead on NIL and underclassmen portal players.  Grad transfers are great, but getting some 5 star guys that did not track for one reason or another at their original school would be nice.

Also, good luck but my guess you will be right back in it.  We all will, it's what we do and we can not stop.

I would love to have JH tax…

I would love to have JH tax burdern.  Honestly no one likes paying taxes, but people do like and need government services.  It cost more to live in desirable areas, that cannot be a shock to anyone.

The more you benefit from the economy the more you should pay.  It is not a difficult concept to understand.  If you want to live in a place that has good public education, accesible heatlh care, etc. It is going to cost you more.

Sure there are lower tax obligation state, but look at where those states rank in education, health care, obesity, mortality rates, etc.  Everything has a trade off is the only point I am trying to make.

Plus JH and his family will be just fine I am certain of it.

Stock and Barrell is not bad…

Stock and Barrell is not bad?  Litton's in Fountain City is pretty good?  Smash Burgers on central is decent.

But overall I would not say Knoxville is a great food town.

Being in Knoxville there…

Being in Knoxville there seems to be little concern from the rank and file.  The general feeling is if they slam UT they have to slam everyone and the NCAA won't do that.  We will see. But a big retort around here is everyone is pay to play now and to pretend otherwise is a joke.

He never had to come back to…

He never had to come back to Michigan.  He could have bounced around the NFL like ever other coach. He came back because this place means a lot to him. I will never doubt that.

No doubt!  Great point!

Thanks for starting this thread.  I just bought the rose bowl and championship game from the Daily directly.  Going to be a nice addition to my office.  Dude next to me is a big buckeye fan so it is nice to have something to put up to combat his national championship poster.

Coaching search after Carr…

Coaching search after Carr and the Pryor recruitment.  I was just a lurker for years until someone asked about moving to Knoxville, which is where I live.  That is when I started my account.

It is a great blog and resource.  I have learned more about football from this site then any "main" football program.  Lot's of really smart football people on here.  Also good for a laugh most of the time. I do stay off the game threads for the most part.  Too stressful.

I do a modified damp Jan.  Essentially I call it college week where I don't drink Sunday through Thursday afternoon.  So far so good.  I have lost more weight then I should which is probably an indication I am drinking too much?  No sure.

edit*  Obviously Michigan beer during the championship.  Bell's and Founders

Second is the right play.  I…

Second is the right play.  I get the pressure argument if the first team scores a TD but that is not enough to give up the decision advantage. Especially if the first team fails to score at all.  Then the second team just needs to set up proper FG placement.

Just an aside I wish they would start with the ball at the 35.  Most college kickers can hit a 42 yard kick pretty consistently, but a 52 yard kick totally different story.  I think having to get at least one first down to get a  scoring opportunity is not unreasonable.

30-24 Michigan.  I think Michigan controls TOP with the run game and Washington gets a few big plays on deep balls, but not enough.

Kelly and Zeke together was fun, zero defense but 120+ a night was not uncommon. That is when I really started watching the Pistons.

The 88 finals was such good basketball.  Still remember Dantley missing one in the lane in game 7 to seal the title for the lakers.  Not to be that "guy" MGO but the Pistons swept the Lakers in 89.  Magic was out and the Pistons were playing lights out.

Favorite memory for me has to be Vinny "Microwave" Johnson stealing game 5 almost on his own against the Trailblazers to claim the second title in 90. Link at top if you don't rember or want to re-live.

Worst memory, Zeke, with the turnover in 87 at the Garden to Bird. Close second Sheed dropping off Big Shot Bob Horry to trap the corner and Horry doing what he does and steal a game in a series that the Pistons woiuld lose in 7.

This.  I live in Tennessee…

This.  I live in Tennessee the people here think SEC football is head and shoulders better than everyone else.  They ride the accomplishments of Alabama and Georgia like they are UTs accomplishments. The clan'ish vibe of the SEC is real and creepy.

They honestly believe the BIG TEN is like a minor league even when their lower tier teams lose in bowl games.

I said this in the Big Ten …

I said this in the Big Ten "anonymous" thread.  SEC will not eat their own.  Ask SEC teams if their champion is better than your champion and they all say "Hell yeah they are, we are the best so our champion is the best"  Ask Big Ten teams and they say "our champion sucks, can't believe they beat all of us"

Maybe the Big Ten buys into the SEC media bias also?

Either way, fuck those guys.

Go Blue!

I read the article and call…

I read the article and call BS.  It's just one more opportunity for the coaches to take a shot at the sign stealing stuff.  The one thing I will give the SEC is if you did this same interview with them they would not shit on their champion like the Big Ten does.
