Also interesting that Ealy was considering Michigan before committing to Ole Miss in 2018....So we have ties to all 4 RB's on this list.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:55 AM ^
What is our tie to Walker?
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:54 PM ^
I assume he is using the stately collective "we" in this instance.
September 22nd, 2021 at 5:01 PM ^
To think statewide is a bit limiting. If we consider our connection to the nation as a whole or think "nationally," we can claim a connection to every back on the list.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:54 PM ^
He currently resides in Michigan?
September 22nd, 2021 at 1:06 PM ^
At the very least, he's a Big Ten foe that Corum is being compared to. More than that I'd say he plays for Michigan's in-state rival, not some random other Power 5 Team that doesn't have an association with Michigan.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:53 AM ^
I always said we should have gotten rid of that bum, Haskins.

September 22nd, 2021 at 11:23 AM ^
Blake Corum is a decent football player I guess
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:53 AM ^
And as good as the other UM backs are as well, that all points to the OL. It all starts up front, & I need to see it in Madsion.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:57 PM ^
That's the first true test on the schedule. Blow out Wisconsin in Madison? Strap me to the front of the hype train!
September 22nd, 2021 at 2:49 PM ^
Hopefully we are on the giving end of the blow out, not the receiving end.
/sounded awkward as fuck.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:59 PM ^
"We'll see how we're doing after Madison" is going to be my new catch phrase.
September 22nd, 2021 at 1:20 PM ^
Lest us not forget a dude named Mike Hart
September 22nd, 2021 at 1:44 PM ^
Wait. That undersized running back out of Syracuse? Dude didn't even get an offer from Penn State or Rutger. Pass.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:25 AM ^
Charbonnet has only 23 carries through 3 games so far. Corum has 48.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:30 AM ^
I'd take Corum in a heartbeat.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:58 PM ^
This is the funniest thing I've seen on this blog in a very very long time. So true!
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:59 PM ^
Maybe is wall the stupid platooning or what not, but I never saw anything from Charbonnet that made me say "Wow! This kid is gonna be special!". So may of his TD's his Freshman year were running the ball in from the 10 or closer. Or at least that is what I remember. LOL
September 22nd, 2021 at 3:38 PM ^
Scoring from inside the 10 isn't necessarily easy. In fact, it often takes more of an individual effort on the RB's part, given that all 11 defenders are close to the line of scrimmage.
September 22nd, 2021 at 6:20 PM ^
I feel like a rather high percentage of running back TDs in general are runs inside the 10
September 22nd, 2021 at 2:02 PM ^
Totally random, but I have such clear pictures in my head of what some of the regular posters physically look like. FauxMo, you are always a clown in my head in real life too. LOL
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:29 AM ^
Would be interesting to see where Haskins would be on this list as well (my guess would be he is somewhere within the top 10).
There was some him-hawing back in week one about Jay Harbaugh being an overrated recruiter. PFF apparently would believe he has a pretty good eye for running back talent (even if early returns suggest Hart is better at coaching it).
September 22nd, 2021 at 1:04 PM ^
And the thing is, while Hart seems to be the better coach, Jay wasn't a slouch in that regard. Higdon and Haskins both made great strides under his tutelage.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:32 AM ^
Surprised to see Charbonnet on there after 6 for 19 against Fresno State.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:59 AM ^
It didn't hurt because he only had 19 carries, and he had 2 TD's. He is averaging 10.5 per rush.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
It didn't hurt because he only had 19 carries,
19 was his total yardage—Charbonnet had 6 carries.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:19 PM ^
My bad Don, that's what I meant.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:33 AM ^
Zach's a good player, but the people mentioning him for Heisman consideration are going a little too far.
I would not trade him for any of our top three running backs.
I just wish we could recruit a couple more positions that well.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:07 PM ^
More to the point, trading him for one of our top 3 RBs seemed to be something that had to be considered.
Our RB room was really good last year, and was set to be really good this year. Charbonnet didn't need to slip much to get squeezed out of carries. His transfer was a win for everyone involved, and while I wanted him to succeed here, I bear him no ill will for making that decision. This is one of those situations where we really did have an overabundance of talent in a position where we couldn't give everyone the touches they needed.
And they tried, they really did. A 4-RB rotation is virtually unheard of, and they tried to pull it off, because every one of those guys is starting caliber.
It is our good fortune that we had so many players develop so well in that spot. How often have we been able to say that here recently?
September 22nd, 2021 at 1:09 PM ^
I’ll add to this that he’s most likely leaving fit the NFL after this season so we really only lost 1 season of him.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Isn't that what we did?
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:45 AM ^
Walker and Corum have to be the odds on favorites for First-team All-B1G. It'd be cool if Haskins can get into the Second or (more likely) Third-team.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:00 PM ^
Well Corum doesn't have any rushing yards in the B1G just yet.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:15 PM ^
As of right now they probably both are, for sure, but TraVeyon Henderson at OSU will probably have his say in that before its all over. Considering he single-handedly saved their ass against Tulsa, I'm guessing Day will be trying to get him the ball more often now.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:48 AM ^
Zach had 6 carries for 19 yards and two TDs on Saturday against Fresno State. Definitely a weird stat line for a star RB in a loss.
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:57 AM ^
Weirdest RB stat line of all time has to belong to Jerome Bettis who once had 5 carries for a total of 1 yard and 3 TDs.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
That was a great (and strange) Fantasy Football week!
September 22nd, 2021 at 5:54 PM ^
Sounds like Khalid Hill at Michigan
September 22nd, 2021 at 11:57 AM ^
Corum is The Chosen One.
I have spoken
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:28 PM ^
When we had to play against JK Dobbins I asked myself, 'Why can't we find a player like that?'
We found one ☺️
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:16 PM ^
An Ole Miss RB on this list? When was the last time something like that happened?
I feel like its been years since they didn't have a system where they weren't preferring to throw the ball 50-60 times a game.
September 22nd, 2021 at 1:02 PM ^
Running is the new passing.
September 22nd, 2021 at 1:42 PM ^
They still do. They are 14th in the NCAA for passing yds. Kiffin has them humming down their. He'll probably end up at USC.
September 22nd, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
Kiffin to USC sounds like a great idea! I wonder if they'll greet him on the tarmac?
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:22 PM ^
SAFETIES HATE HIM!
YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO'S NUMBER 4!
Am I doing this right?
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:24 PM ^
Please don't tell me Corum is eligible for next spring's NFL draft. What about Haskins?
