ND by a couple scores...double digits at least. Their OL will do enough to stand up to MSU's front 7 and Kizer will be able to throw fairly easily on their secondary. Texas put 50 on ND (OT aided) but MSU does not have the weapons that Texas does and probably also has weaker QB play. Also I am very much rooting for ND and Wiscy to hand MSU back to back L's.
ND 31 MSU 17

I would never say "TO HELL WITH NOTRE DAME" on such a thread, because ... well, you know sometimes you get in trouble for using Bo's quote "TO HELL WITH NOTRE DAME".
(FWIW, I did not even see the caption that led to my exile until I was suddenly logged out. Props to Brian for his "Everyone murders accounts" comment after I got nuked - couldn't upvote it at the time, because, well, ... exile.)

I have really lost a lot of my hate for ND since the series ended on that blowout, in a year of Michigan football I think many fans will readily forget. Since then, MSU and OSU fans have seemingly doubled down on their terribleness. I have no moral confusion whatsoever anymore when ND plays MSU or OSU, hell I'd even be rooting for ND if they were playing Penn State. Big time ND fan on Saturday.

Whereas we are already accustomed to ND being douchecanoes. Fortunately, we are more removed from their douchebaggery than from Sparty's.

Do you think Ed DAvis will play? What are your thoughts on him, as someone who follows football? While we are at it, can you tell me who their backup QB is? Thanks for all your deep insight into this sport!

I'm torn between wanting Sparty's fanbase to be miserable every week and them being undefeated when they get smacked in EL.

They are the reigning B1G champs. Fluky wins or not, Michigan & OSU had PLENTY of chances to beat them & didn't.
Anything else sounds like whining.
September 13th, 2016 at 12:28 PM ^
Sparty showed up to play against OSU when OSU didn't, and they got really really lucky against Michigan. Sometimes you win like that, and those wins count just as much. But teams that rely on such a string of luck often get exposed, and the Spartans certainly did in the playoff.
(Lest you accuse me of homerism, I'd say Hoke's 2011 team was "exposed" in the Sugar Bowl, though they still lucked into a win, and they certainly were in the 2012 opener. The weakness of Durkin's defense against the spread was exposed against OSU, though that was more of a failure to adjust to a certain offense, as opposed to their other wins being "lucky")

First, our opponents having better records helps our strength of schedule, which helps Michigan when Michigan beats them. (I'll check with Mad Hatter to see if there is a precondition to speculation on that topic ... .)
Second, it makes beating them that much sweeter, since it shatters the dreams of two generally-obnoxious fanbases. (Again, I'll check with Hatter.)
But I also enjoy them getting beaten. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pulling for Furman weekend before last.
September 13th, 2016 at 8:42 AM ^
Plus, when you look at ND's schedule, they only have one more challenging game (vs. Stanford). A MSU win keeps ND out of the playoff. A 11-1 ND with 11 straight wins has a good chance of getting in.
September 13th, 2016 at 8:50 AM ^
how we used to speculate playing OSU in back to back weeks during the Legends & Leaders years.
September 13th, 2016 at 8:52 AM ^
And at our expense . . . CFP: "ND can represent the Midwest, so we're covered there."
September 13th, 2016 at 9:20 AM ^
Plus, I want the leading winning percentage brag back. Michigan needs to win two games more than ND does to take it back this season.
September 13th, 2016 at 11:28 AM ^
THIS^
When we talk about the most wins, people often say "Well you played more games." But you can't argue with win %. You beat your opponents more often than anybody else beat theirs.
September 13th, 2016 at 11:30 AM ^
This is a legitimate concern. I now would like to see MSU beat them, but still don't expect it.

I would prefer a defeated, despondent, dejected, and despairing Sparty when we go to Lansing. Wisconsin would be providing the cover to our strength of schedule that MSU was supposed to provide, and I would rather have the harder games at home.
I hope they both lose the game, are both found to have long-lasting, systemic doping programs dating back to the 50's, are forced to forefeit every game they ever played, and receive the death penalty. May their existences be blotted from the history books.
September 13th, 2016 at 8:21 AM ^
My heart wants ND to win, I'm tired of Dantonio and the Spartans and truth be told, I don't harbour the same hatred for Notre Dame that much of this board does.
My head feels that somehow, Dantonio will pull another win out of his ass with a less talented team.
September 13th, 2016 at 8:22 AM ^
i think MSU mauls ND in the trenches and pulls away in the second half. I guess i prefer ND to win just because of Michigan's lack of recent success against Sparty, but ND is still overrated after losing to an OK Texas team, and imo, MSU is underrated by most on this board.
