Every member got matching PJ's, with each shirt having a different quote from "Elf". I got "Don't be a cotton headed ninny muggins" on my shirt.
Everyone loved them.

I've been having some digestive issues for the past 6 months, and scheduled for a colonoscopy in a few weeks. At 30 years old, I wasn't expecting all of this.
So my wife gifted me a wooden Michigan toilet paper holder that is the shape of a toilet slash a gag gift a few moments ago. She laughed and laughed and laughed.
I have a feeling she's going to hate it when I gorilla glue it to the floor of her bathroom on April 1st.
Sending love to you all. Merry Christmas everyone!
December 25th, 2022 at 7:57 AM ^
Hopefully it's just Celiac and not something way worse. Best part of the colonoscopy is that first meal afterward. If it does turn out to be Celiac, hit me up for some recipes.
December 25th, 2022 at 8:11 AM ^
I never realized how prevalent that was until my wife was diagnosed with it.
December 25th, 2022 at 9:21 AM ^
Thanks, yeah, I hope it's not anything too bad. I've had blood work and urine labs done twice with normal results. And I've had a few fingers where I wished there wouldn't have been and told I have hemmoroids.
I've had a CT scan in the ER, that showed me healthy just backed up with hemmoroids. I live with bi-polar 2, and anxiety. The latter has been crippling lately.
But we keep on going. Being dads, employees and football junkies. One day at a time. And today is a special day! Go Blue.

You’ve just inspired me to get my shit checked out. (Pork often gets me, but I rarely eat it. Need some answers.)
Merry Christmas!
December 25th, 2022 at 10:22 AM ^
There are so many things it could be that aren't the worst thing it could be. Irritable Bowel Syndrome comes to mind. Also stress can cause a lot of digestive ills (you mentioned anxiety and that can add to it exponentially). Hang in there and I hope it ends up being something you can easily manage.
December 25th, 2022 at 10:05 AM ^
The colonoscopy itself is easy peasy, you're knocked out.
The prep the day before is not fun...good luck.
Hope it's something simple and easily treatable. I heard the C word after mine and while I'm in full remission now, it has been a long, hard journey.
December 25th, 2022 at 10:52 AM ^
Ahh man, I'm so happy to hear you're doing well now. I'm sure it was tough. Tip of the hat to you.
December 25th, 2022 at 11:28 AM ^
I started my colonoscopies af age 50, and they found 3 polyps, all benign. No family history. I think age 40, should be the new age to start colonoscopies.
December 25th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
That's when I started. Family history and all. I am 50 now and have had three colonoscopies so far. My fourth will be in 2024 (I think...I need to check on that).
I don't mind the prep. It's a bit tiring but I feel clean and fresh as a daisy when it's all over. Agree with others that the first meal after the procedure is the best meal ever.
December 25th, 2022 at 11:31 AM ^
It is a lot easier now. They give you a bunch of laxatives. A few years ago they would send you this big gallon jug with this powder you placed in it. You had to drink all of this awful tasting mix the night before your colonoscopy. But now it is a lot easier.
December 25th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
Well, then you need to send me your doctor since I had the gallon of bad lemonade for mine. In mycase it was just because of age bracket and I was fine. Here’s hoping the OP is similarly OK, and as others have said the procedure itself is painless.
Though, before I was about to go under, per my girlfriend, the nurse turned to her and said ‘right now if you ask him anything he’ll be completely honest’, probably trying to gotcha me. And then, as if on cue, I apparently babbled ‘you’re the best girlfriend ever and I wuv you’

What did it to me was the stupid turmeric I was taking for joint pain. Great for the joint pain, but all of a sudden I was taking antacids pretty much every night, Pepto some nights, and the heartburn / reflux was off the charts. After a terrible vacation that was basically ruined by these symptoms, I went off the turmeric and everything normalized in a week to ten days. Haven't had to take even an antacid since.

I’ve had diverticulitis on and off since I was 18 with a perforation and partial colectomy at 35, so I’ve had a bunch of scopes already. The first one you feel like a falcon heavy rocket; you can’t believe the thrust an a**hole can produce. After that you know what to expect and they get easier.
Now they have Sutab which is still a lot of liquid to consume but not as much as the old method with a bottle of Miralax. Just plan on staying close to the throne and blasting ass for a day straight and just enjoy the ride.
I woke up during one of my scopes so that was odd; I did not ask to be present for this. Other than that, there’s a whole lot worse things to have done to you.
December 26th, 2022 at 1:21 AM ^
I could've been the one who wrote this, including finding out I have generalized anxiety disorder. It turned out to be ulcerative colitis. It's not as bad as Crohn's disease, but it's an incurable (albeit very treatable) disease that increases my likelihood of colon cancer and requires bi-annual colonoscopies forever.
December 26th, 2022 at 7:17 PM ^
Anxiety is rough. It's weird, because in the hustle and bustle of everyday life I bode well. When things get heavy I, I'm usually calm.
However, when there's not much going on in life, I can be a wreck. My mind drifts into weird places that are dark. It's mind boggling that I can literally laugh with someone about how wild and irrational my thoughts are, but at that same moment they feel so real and apparent.
I'm lucky to have people in my life who understand that about anxiety. On Christmas Eve I explained to my dad, a firefighter and former ego-centric middleweight boxer turned teddy bear grandfather, that I was having a panic attack and felt guilty that even though I was there at his house with my family I felt so detached and scared because I felt something was wrong with me.
He said well, with "Huh, well, it's just a panic attack, and before you pass out, go lay down, focus on your breathing, and listen to the Beatles. (My favorite band)
And 20 minutes later it passed, and was able to be present, which ironically, is an amazing gift.
Thanks to everybody sharing their experience. It helps alot.

The best gift for me is Michigan, not only being B1G Champs two years in a row, but playing for a spot in the National Championship game. We've waited so long for this.
Merry Christmas

We haven’t opened our gifts yet - everyone is still sleeping. Though in our extended family exchange after dinner last night, my nephews scored some fine Michigan shirts.
I’m extremely superstitious, and wore my Maize Nike Jumpman lightweight pullover to every game this season - and most games last year. I’ll be wearing it again on Saturday.
If I score anything sensational - I’ll post it here.
Go Blue!
P.S. - an update after opening presents.. it would appear that my two children, who are twins - and sophomores at Michigan, stopped by the M Den and gifted me (Dad) with a sweet Nike Dry Fit polo shirt in Blue with a gorgeous block “M”. This is a great complement to my collection of Michigan gear. But, I’ll wait to break it out on a Game Day. (Superstition in more than a Stevie Wonder song to me.)

Waiting to open my gift until just before midnight on Monday, January 9th. Either a 41-35 all time classic against Georgia or a 52-20 beatdown of OSU will do just fine.
December 25th, 2022 at 1:34 PM ^
Let’s slow our roll re: OSU, we are currently on pace to only beat them 48-19 next time

Best gift is my son had a very good semester at UM, good grades and positive outlook. He’s struggled with mental health issues the last few years, but is on track to graduate in the Spring.

87 - great news.. wishing your son another great semester.
December 25th, 2022 at 11:45 AM ^
Thanks for the comments. My son switched majors a couple times and will graduate with a BSE Aero, wants to get his MSE as well. A brilliant kid (example, he scored 36 on his ACT) but he’s had to work through depression and manages it now with therapy and medication. As a parent not much is more challenging than to see your kid struggle, or rewarding than to see him succeed.

87,
Tiime, support, love, and encouragement are some of the greatest things a parent can give to a child.

I got about 72 Kirkland golf balls.
What does this have to do with Michigan? I am going to hit all of them into the woods and ponds of the state where the University of Michigan is located.

I like that brand. Play them regularly 🏌️. If you get a chance, come play The Links at Bowen Lake. I'm the friendly pro shop guy there.😊
