Michigan favored by 28.5 over WMU
There's no surprise in this line.
It's expected Michigan should win by that much. And I have mixed thoughts on Michigan winning by that much. If they look like a machine, with cadence on offense, and domination on defense, I will be happy. I will feel like the team is heading somewhere.
If there is dysfunction that makes everyone scratch their heads, wondering what's happened to the team, yet they still win by 2 to 4 TDs, well, I suppose we will see fans begin to call for the heads of coaches, not wanting to endure what happened last year again.

Does western suck again?
I hope so.

WMU’s defense is awful. This isn’t AFA or Cincy. SMU’s defense is similarly bad.
September 2nd, 2018 at 6:41 PM ^
SMU got murkd by North Texas yesterday by 20some points.
September 2nd, 2018 at 11:40 PM ^
If we don't score at least 50 against SMU its a loss
September 2nd, 2018 at 6:34 PM ^
Great. Another season of beating up and okay and poor teams and losing when it counts. Football makes me so miserable I don’t know why I invest so much time. For the first time since the 0-2 start in 2007 I’m thinking about doing something else during the game.

Fishing, golfing, hiking, collecting Funko pops. Floating some ideas

Hiking is cool, and I do have a nice collection of Funko vinyl figures.
I am a notably bad fisherman and golfer, but the ideas are noted.

I hope we goose egg them
September 2nd, 2018 at 6:45 PM ^
When is the last time a Michigan WR caught a td pass?
i wonder if the first half spread will be 14
September 2nd, 2018 at 6:53 PM ^
It's been a long time since a WR caught a TD. It must've been Black's TD catch vs Air Force (?). Although, DPJ had that TD catch vs. Wisconsin that the refs screwed us out of. It's bad, though.
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:54 PM ^
Looked at the box score. No black td
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
Black's TD was Florida IIRC...
September 3rd, 2018 at 11:59 AM ^
Could've sworn Black caught one in one of those early home games before he got injured but I was wrong. To be fair, I was a victim of a fall wedding during the Cincinnati game last year but have no excuse for AF which I attended. The last WR TDs were against Cincinnati. Perry and Crawford each had one.
September 2nd, 2018 at 9:06 PM ^
I would've rather Ben Mason scored a td on 2nd and goal from the 3...or 3rd and goal, or 4th and goal.. Harbaugh should've run Ben Mason 3 times from the 3, but he decided to pass. Might've been the difference in the game.
September 2nd, 2018 at 6:52 PM ^
I think we need to just roll up the sleeves and take on a more (maize and) blue collar attitude. Enough with the hype bs. Enough with all the Harbaughisms. Just freaking play football. This ISN'T Michigan football. Need to earn back the respect. Not claim it as a right. Braylon Edwards is an ass for his tweet ripping the team, but I understand the frustration. Losing how we lose is not acceptable. Notre Dame is a good team but with all the freakin HYPE and TALK about this team....Either shut up or play up to the hype.
September 2nd, 2018 at 6:59 PM ^
These are the games we excel at. Unranked teams in the big house.......and it ends there
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:03 PM ^
Take the under
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:29 PM ^
Yuuuup.
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:05 PM ^
I'll take Western and the points
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:06 PM ^
Michigan beats Western by 60.
Arizona State (who held their opponent to 2 yards rushing and had 9 sacks in 49-3 win yesterday Upsets MSU 35-21. as Herm Edwards proves he's for real.
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
MSU plays at ASU. I can see them getting beat there.
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:36 PM ^
No way msu loses to asu. Close game but msu wins late
September 3rd, 2018 at 2:11 AM ^
On some kind of weird fluke play that saves the day, which makes everyone in green forget everything else that happened which nearly got them beat.
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:10 PM ^
Taking the under ?
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:17 PM ^
I’m taking the points
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:19 PM ^
Seems about right, but I would take the points.
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:31 PM ^
hey umbig, any feedback from last night's game? tough questions getting asked? line-up changes contemplated? anybody get injured?
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:01 PM ^
I sincerely doubt they'll even score 28 points
September 2nd, 2018 at 9:07 PM ^
Who is they? Michigan will definitely score 28 points.
Western won't.
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:10 PM ^
Ill take the points if they have a mobile QB
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:21 PM ^
Western Michigan was down 34-7 at the half to Syracuse and lost 55-42.
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:35 PM ^
I actually thought this morning that we needed to beat WMU by 28 for me to not start panicking considering that Syracuse just beat them by 13 in Kalamazoo.
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:52 PM ^
I'm somewhat worried about the Western game. They found something on offense in the second half of the Syracuse game. Plus, games like this for the in-state schools are so easy for their players to get fired up for.
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:56 PM ^
Syracuse is awful, they stopped playing, WMU was at home, and then Syracuse buried them again.
September 3rd, 2018 at 10:23 AM ^
Syracuse took Dungey out when they were up by about 30. His backup did nothing. The only thing encouraging about that game for my Broncos is that they fought back. While their backup was in Wassink did work. O-Line, strength of the team, held up the entire game and allowed Wassink to find receivers in the 2nd half. Eskridge and Bellamy are serious weapons with 4.32 & 4.4 speed. Unfortunately they put Dungey back in and we had no answer for his athleticism.
Michigan will fare better but not necessarily put up 55. I look for more of a ball control offense. Establish the run. Let the O line get some positive drives together. A healthy dose of Higdon and Evans. Western will not be able to keep Gentry, McKeon, Eubanks in check. The losses of Sam Beal to NFL supplemental draft and D Phillips to the League leaves huge holes at CB.
Michigan receivers will find space while Shea is able to sit in the pocket. I’d hope for better play from the special teams, specifically the field goal unit and punt returns. I thought last year that DPJ did a poor job and he put us in a bad spot at the 2 against ND.
I’ll stick with my preseason prediction of:
Michigan 42 WMU 10
I hope both of my teams make it thru this healthy with some improvements over last week.
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:55 PM ^
I will eat my hat if Michigan doesn’t struggle early and piss everyone on the blog off. When’s the last time they completely dominated a weaker team start to finish? 2016 Maryland?
September 2nd, 2018 at 9:45 PM ^
If Syracuse can score 55 so should Michigan and out defense plays like they should we hold them to less than 20 points. Not sure why we don't cover
September 2nd, 2018 at 9:59 PM ^
Here’s how to take advantage of this information.
Wait til the “sharps” bet this up to Michigan -34.
Then go all in on WMU.
September 2nd, 2018 at 11:00 PM ^
Michigan smoked Appy State before laying an egg to Notre Dame, but then came back and waylaid Miam (NTM) before crapping out the rest of the season. Smoking WMU will be far less indicative of Michigan's season going forward than the hot steaming pile of 1 SEP 2018.
September 3rd, 2018 at 8:31 AM ^
I'll take the points all day long. We didn't beat anyone by 28 last year despite playing a bunch of cream puffs.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:29 AM ^
I'm not excited.
September 3rd, 2018 at 9:41 AM ^
Where are we going to get 28.5 points?
Not sure we could get that if the field was empty.
September 3rd, 2018 at 3:18 PM ^
WMU’s defense was awful vs. Syracuse. The Orange hung 55 on them. Our defense should shut them down easily and the offense should put up points.
