META: Airing of Grievances - Bye Week Edition
Just as our beloved Wolverines need to sort some things out over the bye week, so too do we on MGoBoard. Whether it’s the narrow wins against Akron and UConn or the discussion of recruits, I think we can all admit that things have been more than a little tense around here. In that light, I am creating an Airing of Grievances: Bye Week Edition thread.
Mods, if you feel this isn’t the right time, or if it spirals out of control, feel free to take this down. However, I believe this is necessary.
TheGhostofChappuis and BlueDragon – I’ve been thinking about making this for a few days. Thanks for finally convincing me to do it.
Blah blah blah self-moderating blah blah blah. I wasn’t around back then.
Time to let it all out, folks. Go.

the Simba-pineapple or the one of the regular pineapple?

The board will be a lot less interesting if we get rid of all of the opinionated (if sometimes cranky) people...I also do not long for a regime in which we cannot raise concerns while, for example, our Mr. Brown says, "What could go wrong with contacting a fifteen year-old directly and posting an interview online with him in which he talks about, say, his dead father?"

Careful Erik, this comment close to ban-able.

If Magnus says that, say, an OL recruit looks raw, that is information as far as I am concerned, yet it might (and in one case did) offend a recruit. Will Magnus be banned in the future if the same happens?

Saying "how dare you criticize Fitz/Borges/whoever, you unathletic nerd who's never played football" is just as annoying, and adds just as much to the discussion, as saying "Devin is a F***ing idiot".

I'm just trying to avoid getting banned until I hit 30,000 points, at which time I'll be rewarded with a Vespa.
September 25th, 2013 at 2:06 PM ^
If I had a Vespa, I'd be all like, "Hey ladies, which one of you wants to take a ride on my Vespa to get some tater tots at Sonic?" And then I would totally score.

Probably 0.

surely he means Princess Vespa, which unlike yours, I would ride.

Dissent is perfectly acceptable in my eyes. Being an unwarrented dickbag to people over completely benign comments is just toxic to the community. Why would we want to encourage people who blow up at a whim on players and other members to keep posting here?
And raising concerns about recruiting and social media is fine, but comparing the work that Brandon does to Sandusky is beyond the boundary line. His job is to talk to recruits that have mutual interest in Michigan and the easiest way (and sometimes only way) by far is through a public forum like Twitter. It's unfortunate that that forum has been abused by other people, but that doesn't erase it's usefulness for legitimate practice or even come close to bleeding into what Brandon and MGoBlog are doing here. The concerns seem completely unwarrented in this business.

Did chitownblue get banned (again)? Who is going to fix the fucking board code and when?
September 25th, 2013 at 11:54 AM ^
Everytime I fucking comment all of the comments get screwed up and look like replies to my comment.
September 25th, 2013 at 11:57 AM ^
Wow. Yes they do. Even the text box for comment entry shows up as if it's inside your comment. I wonder if I can break the board by constantly replying to your comments until everyone is forced to write in thin little strips on the side.
September 25th, 2013 at 12:35 PM ^
It's because the link in your sig isn't formatted correctly.
September 25th, 2013 at 1:01 PM ^
I just resaved it, didn't change any tags or anything but that did the trick. Have your comments back you sorry fuckers!!!
September 25th, 2013 at 12:02 PM ^
Now whenever I comment I need to consider not only if I'm adding anything to the conversation (pretty sure I'm the only one here with that filter) but also if it is worth mucking up the comment layout.

What on earth is happening here?
September 25th, 2013 at 12:58 PM ^
A mod needs to go in and fix that guy's HTML in his sig line.
September 25th, 2013 at 1:09 PM ^
Or he could just fix it himself by deleting his signature until he learns how to HTML.

I have just been MIND FUCKED between the we're here thread and now this... I have just been reading all of this and laughing the entire time

It does seem like posters on this board are taking an increasingly narrow view of things

OK, I guess I'll be serious for a minute? During a liveblog back in the spring (spring game perhaps?), Brian promised a site overhaul would occur during the summer (that has since passed). His vision sounded awesome (better layout, sections, moderation tools). A lot of us were waiting for it, and it never came. Now we have to wait at least until next summer.
"You get what you pay for" and yadda yadda -- but don't announce the thing unless you will follow through.

Pisses me off that it ever got made and tainted the memory of I and II. Coppola admitted he did it just for the money. How dare he. How dare he.
Also, Star Wars prequels.
Also, [BREAKING BAD SPOILER ALERT] when Walt shot Mike.

I forgot the name of this method of watching the movies but try watching them in this order: IV, V, II, III, VI. Basically skip the Phantom Menace. Obviously we all know who Luke's father is but if you do it in this order it makes the prequels act like even more of a flashback and sets up an epic conclusion (for now) to the series. Personally I didn't mind the prequels but thought they could have been better. I'm really excited to see what J.J. Abrams can do though it doesn't sound like they're using the expanded universe material that much in the series.
September 25th, 2013 at 1:58 PM ^
Though in practice, I'm more likely to go "IV, V, V again because it's so good, and... I'm done." But I'll try.

This morning, on my way into work, the guy in front of me at a red light (left lane) did not have his turn signal on. Then, when the light turned green, he did not move. Instead, he waited a second and then put his turn signal on to turn left. I was stuck behind him and was not happy. My grievance has been aired.

1- clay soil. Can't transplant shrubs. 2- I can't press enter on the Body of my MGOBLOG post. 3- I am out of ideas for dinner. Why do they want dinner every single night?? 4- That half court shot by Wisconsin and Armando's perfect game. Still annoyed!!
September 25th, 2013 at 12:18 PM ^
on dinner! I have started making each person choose one dinner per week so I don't have to think of as many things. We do eat a lot of hamburgers and meatballs, though...
