this is exactly why we should have a 100 point minimum to start threads..

08/02/2017 - 6:48pm Biased HS coach

"Faustin's high school coach, who's admittedly not the most unbiased source,"...

Fair point. The high school coach, Kramer, may be biased but he's won multiple state championships and has seen what it takes.  I take his word a bit more seriously due to that compared to someone who hasn't won in Florida when he says that this guy has the potential for the NFL.  Is that a guarantee of success? Not so much.

07/26/2017 - 5:33pm Logged in to agree with Conor Oneils

There is a strong Arsenal watch club at Conor's during the Premier League season and they show the US games for sure in a great group watching atmosphere

04/14/2017 - 7:31am The Ryan Miller game

Oh god, around the 6 minute mark, I knew exactly what Brian was going to say when he started reminiscing about the MSU hockey rivalry.. I was a wee lad of maybe seven years of age at that 1-0 loss and came away knowing for sure Ryan Miller was a robot. It felt a little better to see him become the best American goaltender in years for the Olympic teams.

12/07/2016 - 12:29am Nah you're totally right no

Nah you're totally right no one cares about Thad Matta and Aaron Craft around here

12/06/2016 - 11:40pm Does it make you feel good

Does it make you feel good that you only hate one section of their sports teams?

Whereas this guy just hates Ohio State in general? Does that make you feel bad and bitter?

10/26/2016 - 6:52pm WRT Delano Hill guarding slot WRs while Dymonte run defends

It looks like it comes down to instincts.  While all the scouting in the world would tell us that one is more built to play run defense and one is better in coverage...  Dymonte Thomas must have better run stopping instincts whereas Delano Hill is more natural playing in the defensive backfield. Who would have guessed that haha?

It reminds me of the Kovacsian ability to be in the right place at the right time despite physical limitations. Both of these guys have been performing exceptionally well in ways they couldn't have possibly been projected to be in this D.

09/19/2016 - 1:19pm Edit for rewatch:

Lol nope I'm wrong sorry. Forget this

09/19/2016 - 12:55pm Could have been Hill's

Could have been Hill's assignment - but on the Speight blindside hit Deveon Smith went and 'blocked' one of our own lineman when there were no defenders around. I'd look at him first for making a poor read on the d

Hmm that's a bummer.. For reference I sat section 4 on the south end and didn't have any issues today. There could be some weird acoustics working against your seats though

09/08/2016 - 6:37pm Really interested in this

Will the large number of freshmen getting PT encourage more high level players to come to Ann Arbor?  A coach that plays freshmen early is enticing to the next group of top freshmen.

Through another set of lenses, it appears our depth chart is getting filled up with guys that have multiple years of eligibility left.

I hope Harbaugh continues to draw kids who like the former case.....  Good question

04/13/2016 - 11:59pm I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers this

01/13/2016 - 2:07am In fact

In fact Just for the mgoblog community I've got a couple pictures that I took as the game expired that I could post. But I hope most people don't buy this guy's crap

01/13/2016 - 2:03am Were you at the game?

i was there and no one tried to storm the court especially those from the maize rage. Why would you insinuate that?

10/16/2015 - 1:32pm I just love how he's got that

I just love how he's got that picture of him and Bo framed front and center in his office. Also the plaque: "just coach the team" hahaha

08/12/2014 - 9:52pm I like your optimistic

I like your thinking.. But it's just a bit optimistic regarding our new players, even with the quotations highlighting how "big"-like they are.

Doyle and Bielfeldt will definitely be getting playing time at the 5. Physical bodies are necessary - thus getting Teske a scholarship may be the most important thing of the next couple years. Beilein has no one to replace Morgan's D so we're kind of looking everywhere for solutions now.

We will be lucky if Wilson or Chatman can play the 4 on the defensive end (thus the need for both Doyle and Bielfeldt). Don't count on it. Irvin (not Irving) is so far from being a 4 defensively we'd be worse off than last year on D (and the offense can't get much better) if he was ticketed for that spot, so not a good outlook there. Donnal is our only hope..

Hopefully our backcourt can carry the front court until next year when we have some depth - the lineup until then though is:

Walton/Spike
Caris/Irvin/Dawkins
Irvin/Chatman/Wilson(backups can slide to the 4 when we go small)
Donnal/bielfeldt
Bielfeldt/Doyle

With Walton and Caris averaging 35 a game at a minimum

06/23/2014 - 1:47pm Did a lot have to go right

Did a lot have to go right for Portugal after? Yes. Their passing was on point. But that's the same thing as American football. Good teams are opportunistic.

06/23/2014 - 1:24pm That screenshot was well

That screenshot was well after the turnover obviously - based off where the turnover occurred, enough time for the ball to travel about 45 yards.

Brian even mentioned how out of place a certain member of our defense was, " When Bradley loses the ball he is literally at the halfway stripe!" So his defenders weren't in the right spot and they shoulder some blame. Poor awareness on everyone's part.

06/23/2014 - 1:06pm I understand there are hundreds.

But how many of those occur with your team compressed up the field and result in a huge run where a guy goes ten strides without coming close to a defender? That is rare.

We were so far upfield I made an audible oh noes at the bar where we were watching. This was not a typical turnover like you are implying

06/23/2014 - 12:51pm Hate to disagree regarding Bradley but

We absolutely track points off turnovers in American football. No matter the number of plays that had to go poorly on defense after - it is still a stat every announcer and analyst touts as important.

So yes. Bradley messed up. And the ensuing result was a point off the turnover.

02/08/2014 - 3:01pm Thanks bud

Now if only our defense could keep us in the game while the offense sputters, I'd be really really happy.

02/01/2014 - 12:05pm Joey Burzynski

Football's very own is going to graduate from biomedical engineering in fact.

01/25/2014 - 11:54am Especially if Purdue beats Wisconsin right before our game..

We will know things are going our way!

Michigan can pull it off if this is Glenn Robinson's day against a weak interior d and we minimize the damagez on our defensive glass.

01/18/2014 - 6:47pm For some halftime reading

01/16/2014 - 11:13pm Oh yeah - Minnesota making me feel really smart

A quarter of the way through the Big Ten season and I'm 23/27 on my predictions! Michigan winning @ Minnesota, Minnesota winning @ Penn State, Iowa winning @ OSU, and Purdue winning @ Illinois are the only incorrect guesses I made so far.

My predicted final standings can be found here:

http://annarborsports.wordpress.com/2014/01/05/complete-big-ten-confere…

01/13/2014 - 11:26am With John Beilein's patented luck

Honestly, I was optimistic. In reality, I suppose I have UM on a similar plane as Iowa - just an imaginary half-tier below MSU/OSU/Wisconsin. But chaos happens in a deep conference.  My first go through the schedule I had MSU and OSU with 17 and 16 wins...then I adjusted for entropy in a way I rationalized.

I used the same idea as Kilgore here (love the Kurt Vonnegut reference, by the way) in my article - talking about the importance of holding home-court in conference play: http://annarborsports.wordpress.com/2014/01/02/michigan-mens-basketball…

As you can see I adjusted Michigan's best-case scenario up from the initial expectation and predicted they would hit that expectation after they beat Minnesota on the road(just because it worked for me last year? haha crossing my fingers).

I also wrote about the McGary loss earlier if you do some poking around on the site.

01/13/2014 - 11:21am YES

That's what I was thinking... John Beilein will pave the way somehow.  Hopefully just like how Bo Ryan's teams always finish top 4.

01/13/2014 - 11:15am You're right, I was very pessimistic about this Wisconsin team

Maybe unjustifiably, because I felt I needed to give Michigan and Indiana a few more wins.. Wisconsin has been able to get out and beat teams with high scores this year while still being able to go back to "old-school Wisconsin-ing" successfully against good teams like Virginia and Florida.

My first glance over the schedule I had a huge divide between the teams at the top and the teams at the bottom, but as past Big Ten standings verify, chaos always happens - and I pegged Wisconsin as the victim of it this year, to provide extra wins for teams like Minnesota or Illinois.

01/13/2014 - 8:26am Haha we're on the same schedule bud..

http://annarborsports.wordpress.com/2014/01/12/more-to-come-11214/

I'm sticking with my guesses though

01/06/2014 - 10:30pm Hey if you guys like this thread

Hey if you guys like this thread, this is pretty much my write-up from the day before:

http://annarborsports.wordpress.com/2014/01/05/complete-big-ten-confere…

We have different ideas how the teams are tiered but similar ideas on the importance of home-court and the one-off games.  Maybe I'll post a few articles to here later in the year so no one beats me to the punch.

11/08/2013 - 11:03am right, although

right, although he did go out of his way in a footnote to mention he played for them

09/25/2013 - 12:02pm Previous/Next post function

To help the issue of clutter on the front page, having a link to the previous and next articles chronologically would help the readability of the website. My strategy coping with this right now is opening up multiple tabs to read over the course of the day. Naturally this slows up my computer and Internet connection but I KNOW I didn't miss anything this way.

04/30/2013 - 8:55am From a UNICEF pdf

The consequences for the dismissed children and their parents were not anticipated. The children may have been freed, but at the same time they were trapped in a harsh environment with no skills, little or no education, and precious few alternatives. Schools were either inaccessible, useless or costly. A series of follow-up visits by UNICEF, local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) discovered that children went looking for new sources of income, and found them in work such as stone-crushing, street hustling and prostitution — all of them more hazardous and exploitative than garment production. In several cases, the mothers of dismissed children had to leave their jobs in order to look after their children.

Makes me think that picture of Gary Harris wearing a UM shirt the other day was a sign!

03/29/2013 - 10:01am Metal inspection

When North Quad was being built, the company contracted to do the metal inspection messed up big time and had a shitty, just awful, shitty, (one more time? shittyyyyy) inspector sent to the North quad job site.. My girlfriend, who works in the construction industry, was told to not be surprised if there were any problems with the piping..... Now this.

TLDR; I'm not surprised a metal pipe broke. The guy doing the inspecting should have been fired five times over already.

02/06/2013 - 1:45pm E.J. Levenberry

E.J. Levenberry hasn't signed his LOI to FSU yet.. Rumors are he is considering Tennessee heavily, though.

Is there any way we can snake-oil him away?

02/04/2013 - 2:54pm Thanks

Sounds good to me. I found what I wanted in the depth chart by class.

02/04/2013 - 2:28pm 2013 recruiting board

Hey can we get an update to the 2013 Recruiting Board with the next biweekly recruitin'?

I want to see Derrick Green's name on there.  Hopefully Wangler turns out to be the next Wes Welker!

09/19/2012 - 2:28pm Does anyone know more Michigan football history than Brady Hoke?

"I think we’re excited, obviously, to play in a great venue and play great rivalry game. It started in 1887 and [we’ll] continue it and go from there.”

Because I want to see some sort of game show, stump the schwab style, where Hoke goes to town on everyone.

06/11/2012 - 6:56pm chewing tobacco

I hope it was just him hiding his chewing tobacco from the umpires (they're not allowed to chew in sight of fans, right?)

04/16/2012 - 5:36pm He did this last year too

I can't seem to find it online though; every link to it leads to his new one.  I want to know how he did
