Maize Out?

Submitted by T.W.S.W.B.Champions on

Maybe this is common knowledge, but is Saturdays night game a Maize-Out?  I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.  Are night games in general always Maize-Outs, is that an un-written rule?  Can my MGoBlog brothers enlighten me?

And there are now authentic Michigan maize game jerseys available for all those people that want to wear jerseys to the game.

Those suckers were harsh to look at in the Florida game, but they're great for this purpose.

Probably the reason they introduced them in the first place . . . new incremental Maize-Out game-jersey sales.

There is still a little Dave Brandon in all of us.

I remember that, too. I recall seeing a fair amount of blue, but it didn't look like a sea of blue at all. I think dark colors just don't pop the way lighter/brighter colors do. Also, I vaguely recall that it was pretty cold and a lot of the blue was hidden under coats, but I may be thinking of a different game.

When they used to announce it...it never looked good. People complained about jackets. Non-students complained about wearing maize. It was a joke. I don't think they officially do it for football anymore. As mentioned, now when they want a maize out they hand out pom poms. That looks a lot better than calling it a maize out and it looking half assed and everyone pointing and laughing.

Yeah, this is also what I’ve seen 15,000 for students only but they’re asking fans to have cell phone flashlights ready for when “Don’t stop believing” plays... and to “follow the cue from the student section”.

Sounds way too gimmicky and cheap. Shirts or towels by section would make for a much cooler visual effect but what do I know...

The pom-poms at the  ND game under the lights were very annoying.  People keep shaking them in your face.  That being said they looked awesome, especially on replay.

Side note.  The 4th quarter of that football game is the reason why sports.

Thanks for making this thread OP, I was planning on doing it myself but I feared it was a dumb question.

Communication has been lacking and disorganized in regards to this. The MDen has made a couple shirts for the game (Beat State, and Paul UTL), and all of which are blue. But then suddenly out of nowhere they said Maize Out. I would just wear maize to be safe.

The bigger concern is pom poms, I REALLY hope they do it as it has become a night game tradition. Also, it completely makes what people wear irrelevant to the maize out. However, the students are getting rally towels and we haven't seen much pom poms since Warde Manuel became AD, so I have doubts.

It would really suck if they don't have pom poms. Crossing my fingers really hard that they will! Anybody have inside info on this?

Pom poms and maize outs. This is an awful topic. How about you just wear a Michigan shirt and watch a football game instead of trying to import other team’s lame traditions.
