We are #6 in coaches poll. OU jumps in front of Cinci.

I like it!

My one gripe about this poll is Clemson. Did anyone else watch that Syracuse - Clemson game on Friday? Clemson's offense is horrendous. The fact that the coaches have that team ranked just shows how biased the polls are towards programs like Alabama, OSU, Oklahoma, and Clemson.

Iowa dropped 9 spots, which feels about right, but Clemson getting into the top-25 with a (checks notes) two-week run of beating BC by 6 and Syracuse by 3 (the latter a game they desperately tried to give away to the Orangemen) is why the coaches poll is always hot garbage.

So the poll is setting up the winner of Okla-Okla St. to be in the playoff, Alabama gets in if they beat Georgia in the SEC Championship. Georgia, Alabama (maybe), OU/OSU - leaves potentially only one spot. Will the B1G champ jump Cinci?

OSU would get in, and I don’t think it’s a tough decision. They would have wins over, presumably, four highly-ranked teams, including consecutive wins over MSU, @Michigan, and the B1G championship game, and an early season loss to a top ten team. Oregon might only have one win over a ranked team (no one else in the PAC 12 is currently ranked), and their loss is to a mediocre-at-best Stanford. Imagine that Cincinnati loses to SMU and otherwise wins out, and then compare their resume to Oregon’s (high level road win, a fringe top 25 win in a conference championship, a loss to an unranked team, and an otherwise crap schedule).  I think they’d be pretty similar, and Cincinnati would be near the bottom of the top 10.

Have you seen the teams in the top 20? Sure, any team can beat any team this year. Alabama lost. Oregon lost. PSU lost. It is not like MSU has beaten good teams. Iowa was beaten badly at home by Purdue. ND lost to Cincinnati. Who are the 19 teams better than UM. Either you are a MSU fan or you just hate Michigan being a Michigan fan. I get it that Michigan has not won some big games in the past. Nobody knows if they will win those this year. But, they are 7-0. If they lose, I am sure you will be happy to point that out. Until then, enjoy the ride.

The Iowa that just lost by three scores at home to Purdue? They are definitely better than Iowa on a neutral field. There's a realistic chance they are better than MSU on a neutral field, and it's probably a pick'em game with PSU on a neutral field.

I think you're just being a troll or a BPONE glutton. There is no way to rationalize that Michigan is a worse team than the likes of Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, Iowa, Kentucky, NC State or Baylor. That alone suggests they are a top 15 team at least.

Jumped up two spots after beating the shit out of Bye.  Seems right...

I get that Iowa dropped 9 spots, but why did UK only drop three after getting its poop pushed in by UGA?  I don't think they're objectively any better than WF, at this point.

Weird year for college football. I certainly don't feel like Michigan is the number 6 team in the country, but you start looking for what teams are unambiguously solid, and it's a bit of a head-scratcher.

I wouldn't feel confident betting Michigan to win against any of the top 13, though.

If we are projecting the 3 best teams, I’d say Georgia, Bama, and OSU are 1-3. I think Oklahoma at 4 is closer in talent to the #15 team than the #3.

All 4 of those teams have to face currently undefeated teams, or in Georgia’s case, probably Bama. Going to be a great second half to an already great season
